s understand what floral arrangements would work best for different sites in our venue, optimizing for flower availability, our planned aesthetic and theme for the wedding, and how the weather conditions during our wedding day might impact the look and longevity of our flowers.
During our in person visit, he was also meticulous in helping us better understand what our options were for vases and table scapes - certainly not an easy feat given how picky I am. The day of the wedding, Ricardo sent me previews of my wedding bouquet, making sure it was exactly how I hoped it would look before the flowers were delivered to the venue. Throughout the entire process, Ricardo assured me that he and his team would take care of everything, and that I wouldn’t have anything to worry about during the wedding day. This was 100% true and our florals turned out exactly how I envisioned they would and more! Would highly recommend reaching out to him and the Irises Design team for any floral needs.

cal business. Worst mistake I made in my wedding planning journey.
Our experience with Ricardo as our wedding florist was nothing short of a nightmare. From the beginning, he was pushy and dismissive of my vision, often making arrogant comments like, "I'm the professional, I should know what I'm talking about." When I couldn't name a specific flower or didn't know it was difficult to work with, he'd act condescending instead of working with me to understand my style and preferences.
We scheduled a sample appointment about a month before the wedding, expecting to see an actual arrangement. Instead, there was nothing prepared. When we asked about the sample, he gaslighted us, saying that was a separate appointment and that he would need to order flowers first. Trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, we set up another appointment. The day arrives and he calls to say he's running late because he's picking up the flowers, something that should have been done well before our meeting!
When he finally sent us a photo, it wasn't a sample arrangement but simply the flowers thrown into a vase (photo of "sample" attached vs inspo pic). When I asked if this was supposed to be the sample, he suddenly backtracked and said it was just to "show me the flowers." Mind you, this was weeks before my wedding!! At that point, I decided I wanted nothing to do with him on my big day, regardless of the thousands of dollars we were about to lose.
We politely told him our expectations were not being met and requested a partial refund, which he agreed to. It has now been several months, and despite multiple attempts to follow up, he has completely ignored us.
Thankfully, our wedding planner stepped in and recommended a wonderful florist who, from the first appointment, came prepared with vision boards and a true sample arrangements only a week after we booked with her. She even said our experience with Ricardo was definitely not normal and very concerning.
I would never recommend Irises Designs to any bride or anyone looking for a professional, reliable, and respectful vendor. Ricardo made an already stressful process significantly worse. STAY AWAY.

We were very clear as to what we wanted (something more minimalistic and elegant) and he did a great job listening to what we wanted and helping us make our vision come true. Irises did our bridal bouquets, bridesmaids bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, floral center pieces for our reception and bridal tables, and did all of the table decor and rentals. Our reception space and tables were a serious dream come true. Our bridal bouquets and bridesmaid bouquets were just stunning and so super fresh. Irises pricing is average for high quality flowers, decor, and design. They were worth every penny! Our meetings to decide on our flowers and table decor were briefer than most since we only were able to come in town once (we live in a different state), but even with a one time meeting and multiple phone calls, everything came out perfectly. The delivery, set up, and pick up at the end of the night on the day of the wedding was super easy-Ricardo and his team know the Mission Inn like the back of their hand, so we (brides) had nothing to worry about or stress about. Overall, working with Irises Designs was just perfect. Ricardo and his team deliver quality, artistic, and beautiful flowers and decor that truly made our wedding magical.

He was very welcoming and was willing to work with our budget. We had a fall wedding and were looking to have arrangements and bouquets that reflected a fall color scheme and were on the simpler side. I was a little worried about what the final product would be as the samples that Ricardo crafted were not entirely what I was looking for, but he assured me that the final products would be. I have to say that having a Pinterest board with ideas of what I wanted really helped Ricardo and his team deliver what I was looking for. I was awed to say the least with the finished product-everything from the crowns for the flower girls, bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnieres, and flowers for the cake were so beautiful. In our meeting we basically told Ricardo what type of flowers we liked, what our theme colors were and our budget. He then began to make our dream wedding come true.
I’m sure you know that a bride will change her mind 100 times before she knows exactly what she wants so Ricardo and I went back and forth through email/text about any changes that I wanted. He was so accommodating and was always very prompt to respond.
Our wedding arch was absolutely stunning with the chandelier, it was probably my favorite thing at the wedding. The centerpieces were beautiful and my bouquet was gorgeous. The flowers were the talk of the wedding.
There was only one problem we encountered on our wedding day. The flowers that were on our wedding cake were supposed to be on the middle tier of the cake, not the top. But it still turned out beautiful so we can’t complain!

I've got to say that the last 2 weeks before my wedding was pretty stressful since there were many things that went wrong last minute (alas, that's life -- but it all worked out day-of). From the moment we sat down to meet with Ricardo, we knew he would do an amazing job! From the time we hired him and up through our wedding day, he worked hard to make sure that the flowers and arrangements he was providing were exactly what we wanted. He set up several different meetings in which he actually ordered the flowers we had picked and set up real sample center pieces and a sample of my bouquet! Now, just want to emphasize how amazing this is, because every other florist I talked with would not do such a thing. They said they could show a sample arrangement so I could get a feel for the size... but not actually order the flowers we were picking and make one! This was amazing because flowers can be difficult, colors aren't what you thought they were or you might want more of one kind then another... but with all other florist, you don't know what your actually getting until the wedding day. Not with Ricardo though...

rospect they were a bit pricey. BUT I must say, I loved my wedding flowers... I had mason jars filled with sunflowers, delphinium and hydrangeas for centerpieces, a flower petal design down the aisle with shepherd hooks with mason jars filled with flowers. They did a really great job for the ceremony, I didn't want the traditional arch or gazebo, so they designed 2 short pillars with branches with flowers to match. I would recommend them, just haggle a bit and you kind need to be on them, and he can get a bit pushy about payment (mind you I never received invoices, just an expectation to pay on dates i never knew about and he cashed a check earlier than the agreed upon date, not cool).

Bride with no set ideas at all as to what flower types or color schemes that I wanted. I had sent him some pictures of bouquets that I liked, and during our first meeting, he had some samples for me, which NO other florist had done. This helped tremendously as I am a very visual person and this helped me decide on what flowers I wanted. Ricardo was full of ideas and truly loves what he does. He is also SUPER nice, and took notes on EVERYTHING, which I loved, being a very organized person. He was extremely responsive to phone calls and emails, and was totally flexible with some last minute things that the Venue had not previously told us about. s of pink wedding. We were getting married in October, we love Halloween and we especially love the movie The Nightmare before Christmas. So as you can imagine, we wanted something different done. We wanted people to feel like they were walking into a forest inspired by Tim Burton during autumn with a touch of The Haunted Mansion; creepy branches, pumpkins, dim candle lights, etc. With such specific detail, I was nervous that no one would be able to translate what I had in my mind into reality. I also found a picture of a bouquet that I just had to have (it was this whimsical Alice in Wonderland style) and I knew that he would do an amazing job, but I didn’t think that he would make it look exactly like the picture. Imagine my surprise when I saw it and it was identical! Ricardo went above and beyond what I asked for. He was available when I needed to talk to him; he’s so friendly and exceptionally creative, he and his wife can do anything you throw at them! Everyone couldn’t get over how beautiful our wedding was. From the iron candelabras with ivy and pumpkins lining the aisle, to the 2 large Manzanita branches covered in orange flowers with pumpkins and moss at the altar, to the branch centerpieces with hanging candles and more pumpkins…It was all perfect. Once I was able to sit down at our head table and look over the room, I actually started crying! I couldn’t believe that he was actually able to read my mind and see exactly what I saw for our wedding. And he also took what we used in the ceremony into our reception so that we could use the candelabras and the Manzanita branches as well! And he did our aisle runner for us which was gorgeous! There is no way for us to express our gratitude to Ricardo for what he did. The florist is the one who sets the theme for the wedding and he did just that. Irises Designs is the best there is!

good about returning your phonecalls unless they have a payment due from you. You also have to tell the owner several times what you want because he tends to forget. Just make sure you take pictures of your sample arrangements and keep reminding him. He is not very good at math and almost overcharged us a few times. Luckily we caught the mistakes. If you can deal with that stuff, then go with Irises Designs because I only have great things to say about the arrangements themselves!
