Isabel Donnelly Bridal Alterations

My dress didn’t fit and I was considering buying another dress. My wedding was a month away My mom and I went to see Isabel Donnelly and she fixed it!!!! She added boning and extra hooks and did the bustle!!! She is amazing!!! Woth every penny! When I put my dress on I felt beautiful!!!! I highly recommend Isabel Donnelly!!!

I'll preface this with the following caveat: Isabel Donnelly is not cheap. If you're looking for an inexpensive tailor, look elsewhere. But Isabel will give you an honest quote upfront — I recommend doing a $35 consultation before starting the tailoring process if you're concerned about the price — and she won't increase the price halfway through the process unless you significantly change what you're looking for. The bottom line: You get what you pay for. Isabel's skills with a dress are absolutely magic. I came in with a dress that was more than two sizes too big in some places, and it had a delicate illusion back that made alterations difficult. I was so unhappy with the fit that I was ready to buy a new dress. By the end of the alteration process, my dress looked like it had been custom made for me and I was absolutely in love with it. Isabel was a pleasure to work with. She advised me on whether specific changes would be wise, but also listened to all of my concerns, always telling me that ultimately everything was my choice. When all was said and done, I was so glad she had talked me out of certain changes and into others. Above all, she was patient, even when I was indecisive about my shoe choice. My final fitting was a few weeks before my wedding, so Isabel told me that if I got nervous about the dress between then and the wedding, I could come try the dress on again. When I inevitably did, she was nothing but kind and understanding. If you can afford the money, you won't regret hiring Isabel.

Isabel is a true professional. Her attention to detail is impeccable. My dress was about 2 sizes too large and needed alterations in every area. A the final fitting, it was perfection! I felt like it was made for me. Thanks again Isabel!

Isabel did my alterations for my gown. The gown was a strapless fit and flare with beaded lace coving the entire upper part of the dress. She spent countless hours making sure that the dress fit perfectly, including almost an hour one-night working on resolving one issue of a bouncing of fabric at the waist. With the lines of the dress a visible seam in the middle would not have been ideal, but it was the only solution to remove the extra fabric causing the bunching. While I had accepted the idea of adding a belt to the dress, when I arrived for the final fitting she had been able to make the alteration with no visible seam at the waist. I was able to dance all night in the strapless dress and never once worried about it falling (something that does not happen with a larger chest normally). All night long everyone told me how it looked like the dress was made just for me.

Isabel is an amazing seamstress and miracle worker! Such a pleasure to work with and the results were amazing. She turned a complete disaster of a poorly made and altered mother of the bride gown into a masterpiece. I just can't say enough about Isabel. Delightful, responsive, calm, resourceful and incredibly talented. Thank you!

Reassured by the many reviews, I did not even search for a different seamstress. After a couple of visits struggling to fit into her schedule and a week prior to the wedding she told me that she would not do my dress. She was not flexible in coming up with different solutions or listening to what I was looking for. Very disappointed that she just dropped working on my dress without considering my situation. She may be getting enough business that the customer is no longer valued. I would not recommend her at all. I would not care what type of job she does if she cannot be a dependable person. If you go to her, have a plan B in mind with a different dependable seamstress.

Isabel is the best of the best! I had a very complicated and involved dress that needed serious alterations. It turned out absolutely perfect. Not only is Isabel an amazing seamstress, but she's also super sweet and accommodating. There is no one else I would trust with my wedding dress.

I was unable to hire Isabel as my seamstress because she was unavailable for my wedding (everyone deserves a vacation) and therefore I hired someone else who ended up ruining my dress. I immediately called Isabel to ask for her professional guidance. Though she wasn't available to fix my dress, she still took the time to give me advice... for free. She had me email her photos of my dress, then she called me back to provide me with her wisdom and guidance. Isabel was extremely knowledgeable, kind, helpful, and encouraging. I highly recommend her!

Isabel is truly amazing in her work! She was so friendly to work with and quickly understood what I was looking to adjust with my dress. I used her for my wedding dress and a few weeks later for a bridesmaid dress. Her work is beautiful and exceptional; you can trust Isabel to go above and beyond your expectations. I can’t imagine using anyone else!

Isabel is one of the sweetest vendors I worked with by far. I loved working with her, and the work she does? It is unlike anything I have ever seen. Finding a great seamstress if becoming less and less common today -- now it is basically an art form. Isabel is a gem of a find -- we had a very tall order and needed the very best to help me wear my mother's wedding dress for my wedding ceremony. My mother's wedding dress was a size 8/10, in the beginning, I was a size 12. So I needed to expand the dress, meaning finding the correct fabric to put on the arm pits and down the sides. Then I lost 40 pounds before wedding, and she had to take it in again. Then She had to repair a slight tear in the 8 foot cathedral train, she had to take down the 80's sleeves, she literally transformed the dress (she kept the original beauty of my mom's long sleeved lace dress, but she made some necessary changes to make it less 80's and more timeless). Most importantly, she made the dress mine, fitting it to my body, like it was made it for me, not like I was just "borrowing mom's dress". When I first went in, I honestly thought it was going to be impossible for me to wear my mother's dress. I had zero expectations, as did my mom. When it was all finished, I was floored. I sincerely believe NOBODY else could have fixed mom's dress. NOBODY but Isabel Donnelly. She is a miracle-worker.

Isabel is amazing. She altered my rehearsal dinner and wedding dresses. One involved detailed silk and lace work. She is so kind and really cared about me as a person. I was sad to say goodbye to her at my last fitting! You may pay a little more than some other places but it was 100% worth it (I first went to a cheaper place but the service was so bad that I came to Isabel).

Isabel is an amazing seamstress. She did everything I wanted and was reasonably priced. She made the bustle very easy for my maid of honor and it looked gorgeous. I would definitely recommend her!

Isabel’s reviews are accurate – her work is exceptional and you won’t be disappointed! Handing over your wedding dress (maybe the single most important piece of clothing for you wedding day!) could be a stressful experience but not with Isabel. From the moment she began working with my daughter’s dress, we had complete confidence that we’d made the right seamstress selection. The dress was beautiful from the start, but Isabel’s suggestions and alternations made it perfection. I literally witnessed a garment transform into a beautiful wedding gown that my daughter wore comfortably and confidently! Say yes to this seamstress!

Isabel agreed to alter my dress and bustle only a few weeks before my wedding. She had everything completed and ready to go in a week! She was so incredibly sweet, and I felt like I paid a great price for I had done. She even color coded my bustle to make things easier for my MOH!! Incredible!

I found and contacted Isabel after a bad experience with the alterations department at the bridal shop where I bought my wedding gown. Isabel was always available, responsive and eager to help right from the very beginning. She was able to quickly fit me in for an appointment the day after I called/emailed her and told her about my dilemma. Her prices are high, but you truly get what you pay for and I was happy to pay for a high-quality job from a seamstress I trusted with a quick-turn around time. Isabel offered suggestions to me and always listened to what I wanted. She's a truly sweet and talented woman who helped take me from a disappointed bride to a bride very much looking forward to her wedding day. And, I looked so beautiful on my wedding day and got many compliments on my gown from friends, family and most importantly, my husband! I loved wearing my dress and didn't want to take it off thanks to the amazing work of Isabel! Worth every penny!

I loved my wedding dress, but Isabel Donnelly made everyone else love my dress as well. I tend to be self conscious, especially in tight fitting dresses, but she put every doubt and concern of mine at ease, she made me look gorgeous in that dress! Isabel is incredibly kind and welcoming; and her love of dresses shines through in her work. She is a master at alterations and making each dress look like it was made uniquely for its wearer. The cost was slightly more than I expected, but I would have paid double for it in the end my dress looked so great.

All of the reviews for Isabel are true - while her prices are a little higher than I expected to pay, it was well worth the cost. She took the time to make sure it was exactly what I wanted and did a beautiful job with all of the changes that were made. My dress didn't require too many major changes but had a number of layers that I imagine caused annoyance for the seamstress, but it turned out perfectly. She really cares about you and wants you to be perfectly happy with how your dress looks on the big day, and I was so happy to pay a little extra for that personal interaction and to have someone that loves what they do work on my gown that I loved so much. I would recommend Isbel to any bride that can afford beautiful alterations!

All the wonderful raves and reviews are completely true - if you want the perfect wedding dress for your special day, make sure you go to Isabel. I did not think I wanted a wedding dress, in fact I had bought a more nontraditional one from a chain bridal store, however I was not happy and did not feel beautiful in it. Through a Google search I randomly found a bridal boutique that had my dream dress. The thing was it was 6 sizes too big (sample size) and the train was not what I thought I wanted - in fact initially coming to Isabel I told her I wanted the train removed. First of all the process with Isabel is so to speak "seamless" she is very upfront about the costs of everything - however they are WORTH IT. The detail and preciseness of her work is unparallelled to any other tailor I have ever seen. She also TAKES THE TIME TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE HAPPY. And makes you feel very special throughout the whole process. With my dress she had to take in the sides and make darts, which with intricate beading proved to be a challenge however the end results was immaculate. As mentioned I had also initially said I did not want a train, however Isabel advised me that I should keep the beautiful beading that was on it, and with her eye of expertise, found a way to only have a short train but keep the beading. She makes suggestions - does not force you to do them - but the suggestions she makes adds to the beauty of the dress and it's integrity. Isabel is a lovely person, it was a pleasure to just be in her company, and I wholeheartedly recommend her if you want your special day to be even more special. She did a beautiful job on my dress, I was more then happy and felt very beautiful and special.

Isabel was an absolute PLEASURE to work with! She is not cheap but was worth every penny! I am so happy that I found her!! I felt like she truly enjoyed working on my dress and she completely put me at ease. Isabel also added beads to the flowers and made it one of a kind! I panicked when I realized there was a funny smell on my dress from being shipped to the US, but Isabel took the time to make and hang bags of baking soda around the dress and made sure that the smell was gone before the wedding. I got so many compliments on my wedding dress and everyone loved the added touches on the flowers! I would recommend Isabel to EVERYONE!

Isabel is not super cheap, so if that's what yo are looking for, she may not be for you. I think she is worth every penny, though. I spent as much on repairs and alterations as on the dress ($900 for a sample dress in disrepair, another $850 or so in alterations and repairs but it was elaborate and needed a lot). This price included a lot of trying different ideas, multiple fittings, continued downsizing as I lost weight, and some last-minute detail work on the boning. Dress shop alterations services will cost less, but will never customize like this and will never be this obsessed with making yo look perfect. If you have a complicated body shape or elaborate dress, Isabel will make the dress look like it was made for you. BTW she is also very sweet about the whole process and was understanding about my crazy bride schedule making me late a couple of times.

I want to Ms. Donnelly with my wedding dress because I had read nothing but fantastic reviews about her. And she did not disappoint! When I came to her my wedding dress was 3 sizes too big, and I really did not like it at all. She transformed it into the most beautiful dress! i was speechless! She had great ideas on ways to improve the dress and really made it look like a one of a kind creation. She's very friendly and works at a good pace. From the time I gave her my dress to the time I picked it up complete was about a month and we had 3 fittings together. She is a bit pricey, but the quality service you get is worth the money!
