Liz Seligman, the founder of Island Life Events, has over 30 years of event planning experience. Comfortable in every setting and in her element under stressful situations, her passion is to help her clients with every step of the wedding planning process. Liz listened to all of our ideas and hopes for our vision, drew up a comprehensive plan, took all of our feedback into consideration, and, most importantly, was completely honest and transparent the whole way through. We knew that we could move forward with confidence in every detail of our wedding plan because Liz would let us know with full sincerity what would work, what wouldn't work, which vendors were worth their cost, and which weren't. She managed all of our communication between vendors with the highest level of professionalism and urgency. We worked with a venue that had extremely poor communication, but Liz stayed on them and pressed for replies and answers when they otherwise wouldn't.
Without Liz and Sarah, our wedding day would not have been the massive success that it turned out to be. It was such a pleasure to work with them, and I will miss talking to them regularly!

e, our wedding day was incredible. Unfortunately, after a year of working with Liz (the owner and our planner), her behavior on and after the wedding weekend was unacceptable.
We felt as though Liz did not give our events the level of service we expected. I emailed Liz in the hope that she would accept feedback and would use it to further improve her services. Instead, her response was incredibly disappointing. She took some accountability, but then moved on to blame external factors. She put my character into question based on her feelings of another wedding party member, and deflected blame on to me (her client).
Liz left our venue immediately after our rehearsal dinner, before guests even arrived for the welcome party. Our entire welcome party went on without a planner, so if any issues arose (which a few did), there was no planner there to handle it.
The most unacceptable situation occurred on our wedding day. Liz stopped us during our recessional to inform us that she was leaving, and her assistant would take over from there. That was our time to soak it all in before the festivities began and get once in a lifetime photo and video, but she interrupted that for us. In our opinion, there is no acceptable excuse for stopping a couple during their recessional or leaving before a wedding weekend event commences.
I would like to add that this review is not a reflection on her assistants Sarah and Sophia, who were incredibly respectful and helpful. And all of the vendors we were put in contact with were great.
We hope that this can help other couples in their planning process.

I am from out of state, so when I would make visits down to Florida we would have in-person meetings, which would last for hours - not just because of the wedding talk, but we would get side-tracked with convos about life. It’s important to have this bond/relationship with your vendors. When our wedding weekend came she was on top of EVERYTHING. I put my trust in her and her daughter, Sarah, and they both performed!

g to Liz almost on a daily basis and I am so thankful for her. We postponed the wedding by only a few months and scaled it down to a small and intimate wedding. NONE of this would have been possible without her. She helped keep my vendors in touch, found us new entertainment, she checked local ordinances and county requirements to always have the latest information. I credit Liz for all of my mental strength. She helped me remain calm - calm enough that we decided to go forward with our event! I am so so so so so happy Liz was there to show me how this event would be possible during these weird times. If you are worried about covid19 and still want to have a wedding - YOU NEED TO HIRE ISLAND LIFE EVENTS. When it came to the actual event, everything was executed perfectly. We were worried about some inclement weather and Liz had backup plans ready to go and then when the weather held up, she had everything back to how we originally planned. THEN - less than 30 days before our wedding - our original venue sent me an email informing me that the hotel would no longer be open in time due to delayed hurricane repairs. I was completely beside myself. Only with Liz's guidance and sense of calm were we able to find a new venue, coordinate with all our current vendors, find new vendors, and finalize our *new* wedding in less than FOUR DAYS. If this is not a testament to Liz's patience, expertise, resourcefulness, and professionalism, then I don't know what is!
