We absolutely loved our cake from Ithaca Bakery! It looked stunning and more importantly, tasted amazing!! We went with a golden layer cake with lemon buttercream frosting and raspberry jam filling and it was definitely a crowd pleaser! They made our unique vision come to life and it was so easy coordinating with Carley, the bakery manager. The pricing was reasonable and we had the cake delivered, which is recommended for a 3-tier cake, but made the process so easy for us. They even coordinated directly with the venue to make sure it arrived on time.
The food was amazing - that is a 5. The organization of this all and being tricked into paying more than I believe I should is a 1. The main person was definitely smooth talking her way out of most things - making excuses for not responding, claiming she had it in her inbox and forgot to respond. I also kept asking for an itemized breakdown which they wouldn't provide. Towards the end I also tried to reduce the order, where I was somewhat upsold to keeping it the same. I could have saved over $500. They also forgot some basic things (creamers, mixed feedback on whether we'd have coffee cups, etc) It was honestly the most stressful part of my entire wedding was dealing with the vendor. If I lived closer, maybe it would have been better and the food was great so ultimately that is what matters.
We wanted to get mini whoopie pies as a wedding dessert and had a really difficult time finding a place to take our non-traditional order. Not only did Ithaca Bakery happily agree to make these for us they offered a long list of specialty flavors/customizations and all of the flavor combos we sampled were delicious. These were a huge hit with our guests and the price was very affordable. Highly recommend them for anyone looking to do a non-traditional wedding dessert!
Ithaca Bakery did a fantastic job on my wedding cake. I am from the Ithaca area, I had Ithaca Bakery make my high school graduation cake, and I always try to make a point to stop by when I’m in town, so once I knew I was getting married in the finger lakes area I was set on having them bake my wedding cake. We ended up going with a small cutting cake (which was very reasonably priced) and a bunch of cupcakes. Their dessert is so incredible. I was able to choose 4 different cupcake flavors (chocolate, vegan vanilla, apple cinnamon, and red velvet) and rent a cupcake stand to display them at the venue. They delivered to my venue without any problems and were able to add the floral topping to the cake once they got there. It was a little hard to get ahold of them sometimes through email, but they were always very responsive when I called. I will always recommend Ithaca Bakery and I’m so glad I chose them for my wedding cake.
The most delicious wedding cake I have tasted! Highly recommend: professional, flexible, on time, great to work with
Working with Ithaca Bakery as our caterer was a breeze. The food was absolutely delicious. I would even say the food on my wedding day was better than our tasting. We had a backyard wedding at our home, and the IB staff were courteous and respectful. Our day-of coordinator changed at the last minute (like, got the call the day before my wedding) which threw me off a little since I had been working with one specific person for months, but the new coordinator picked right up where the old one left off, and everything ran smoothly. I felt that the pricing was very fair for the quality of food and service we received. We also got our cake through IB and it was absolutely delicious, and beautiful to look at, too. I would work with IB again for any catering needs and would recommend them to other engaged couples in the area.
We ordered 11 different desserts for our wedding. The team went the extra mile with delivery coordinating all the different serveware pieces each dessert went on, along with adding little signs to each one. Guests loved all the options and it tasted wonderful!
Ithaca Bakery never disappoints! We did a dessert table for our wedding instead of a cake and everything was delicious. They were quite busy with other events that weekend but made sure that our wedding was a priority and got everything set up beautifully and on time. We did overestimate the number of goodies to get so we were left with too many leftovers.
Ithaca Bakery became the unofficial caterer of the entire wedding weekend that my friends, family and I spent in Ithaca. We ate it for breakfast on our set up and wedding day. They also ended up baking our cake at the last minute which turned out perfectly and was extremely delicious. And then finally they actually catered our morning after brunch at Treman. We did a buffet of bagels, muffins, pastries, fruit, coffee and juice and everything was wonderful. They came in and set up without me even knowing so when my husband and I woke up everything was ready to go. Our more-than-slightly hungover guests were very pleased.
The cake and cupcakes were gorgeous! They did a wonderful job. We also had them cater and we heard several people say how much they loved the food. Would definitely recommend them for a wedding!
The cake was amazingly decorated and the flavor was to die for! Can't beat it!
we catered our wedding from Ithaca Bakery in the fall and they did a fabulous job! they set up a beautiful buffet for dinner and delicious cheese cakes and chocolate regal for dessert. My groom is gluten free and they had great menu options for him too. Guests were full and happy.
The food provided by Ithaca Bakery was very good! They catered our cocktail hour and reception dinner. Guests were raving about how good all the food was - and not your typical bland wedding food. The entrees we chose were grilled sirloin with portobello's and roasted red pepper au jus, hawaiian bbq chicken, and eggplant rollatini. The food was grilled at our venue so everything was fresh & hot. They also rented the linens and china for us, and set up everything that went on the table. Getting in touch with our coordinator was not always easy, they are a busy business and seem to have a lot of turnover. We went through two coordinators before working with Niki. When we were able to meet with her she was very nice and professional and made sure everything went smoothly.
My husband and I had a horrible experience with Ithaca Bakery (as have our friends), and we'd encourage future couples to reconsider doing business with them!
We met with the Director of Catering, for 5 months leading up to our wedding. He seemed pleasant and accommodating, and encouraged us to send any family recipes we would like served; he encouraged us to do so often. After our first meeting, he consistently took over 3-4 weeks to get back to us with any updates (e.g. quotes), and he repeatedly included inaccurate information that we had already clarified with him in person weeks before. We asked to sign a contract early on, and he kept putting it off and was underprepared for our meetings in person.
He set up our tasting one month before our wedding, even though he still had not created/signed a contract with us - despite several requests from us. (Side note: He would only host tastings between 10am-3pm on weekdays!! We had to take off of work in order to do our tasting.) He said it was "unusual" to do a tasting before signing a contract, but "since we were so far along in the process," "it was pretty much a done deal." He sat us right next to their garbage cans in the Triphammer Mall location, and brought out all the food at once. He then left us unattended for over 30 minutes. We had several flies CONSTANTLY swarming around us and landing on the food. We were relentlessly waving them away, and it became so ridiculous that we had to cover all the food with notebook paper I had in my bag. It was comical and seriously unpleasant. After we ate the lukewarm, paper-covered food, we sat alone for 10-15 minutes, until he finally came back out. We told them we liked a lot of what they made (e.g. cheesesteak apps, riesling chicken, etc.), but if possible, we had a few changes we would like to make (e.g. serve warm herbed broccoli with minced garlic, instead of cold bland broccoli mixed with whole cloves of garlic). We also asked if it was possible to use fewer tomatoes in one of our entrees, and to see if they could use white potatoes instead of sweet potatoes in our samosa appetizer. He voiced no concerns, and reassured us all of those changes were totally doable. We asked if we could possibly send him a recipe for the samosas, and he said sure, no problem. Right before we left, we asked when we could sign the contract, because our wedding was a month away. He said he would work on it right away, and we would be able to sign everything later that week. We thanked him and parted ways.
The very next day, we received an email at 4:58pm stating: "Unfortunately after meeting with you, reading your requests and understanding your needs better, we realize that we are not the appropriate caterers for you"..."Thank you for having considered the Ithaca Bakery for your catering." ::We were completely shocked:: We had met with him for over FIVE MONTHS, and HE NEVER RAISED ONE CONCERN. His email offered no room for compromise, just wished us luck and basically told us to F-off one month before our wedding!! IB was going to provide our food, alcohol, and rentals (tables, linens, chairs).
After calling several local caterers that night, we were told that "this is not the first time IB has done this to couples" and that "we've received many clients at the last minute because IB has dropped them without warning."
Joe's Catering ended up saving our wedding! They treated us with care and professionalism that FAR exceeded IB.
We went with the Ithaca Bakery because my husband and I are vegetarians and they had tons of options for us. The entire reception was meat-free and none of guests seemed to notice because everything was so tasty. Upon returning from our honeymoon, I had several emails from wedding guests inquiring about the food because they wanted recipes for various dishes. Aside from the great food, the catering manager, Alex, was professional and easy to communicate with. I would recommend the Ithaca Bakery 100% !
We ordered a variety of desserts from Ithaca Bakery for our wedding. The main "cake" was actually a small 2-tier rice krispy treat (the best I've ever had!). We also had an assortment of pies, cakes, and bars, and baklava and canolis... there was such a great assortment, I might be forgetting some, but everything was delicious, and looked great set up. My only issue with the bakery was a lack of communication from the organizer. They were supposed to contact us regarding payment, and we didn't hear from them until the morning of the wedding, despite multiple attempts to contact them. It was a bit stressful, because we did not have final confirmation or any idea of delivery time until the morning of the wedding, but despite that hiccup, everything did work out in the end and the desserts were perfect.
Shannon at Ithaca Bakery is amazing. She totally got on board with my fall/local wedding food plan and came up with some great food options. We have gotten so many compliments on the food. She also was so easy to work. She also did a great job day of making sure all the details were taken care of so I could just relax and have fun!
We had a vanilla cake with raspberry filling and vanilla butter cream icing. It was delicious, just like it was when I did a tasting. However, I sent in a pretty simple design photo and was told they could do it, and I was disappointed when I saw it. It just wasn't very detailed, and was even a tad bit sloppy. I'd told them that I would provide my own fresh flowers and didn't need iced flowers, but they put them on there anyway.
I used them for our catering. They offered the best price we could find on such short notice. The coordinator was fantastic, however, we agreed that all leftovers would be boxed and left at the sight. They ended up throwing everything out, including the wedding cake! We complained and got a refund for the mistake. The service at the reception was great. All the staff were professional and attentive.
The Ithaca Bakery catered our reception. Our priority was to have good food, but keep it low key and costs under control. They were fantastic to work with and helped us put together a Mediterranean-style menu. When we got the first quote, they were extremely helpful in working to bring it down a bit. But, the best part of all, was that the food was mouthwateringly delicious. We got compliments from many of our guests. I would recommend them 100%!
Beautiful wedding cakes that actually taste good. Reasonable prices.
