It was a bit stressful for me knowing this was such a big decision. With all that in mind, I am so THRILLED that we chose this couple!! Ivan and Monica went above and beyond! Not only are they the CUTEST COUPLE EVER, they did everything they could to make us feel relaxed and allowed us to enjoy all the moments of the day. They were also extremely professional the entire time. They showed up early the day of our wedding and went straight to work. It was such a relief knowing that I didn't need to give them any direction, and everyone commented on how much they loved being around our photographers! And if that isn't enough to go book an appointment with them now, they continued to be extremely professional after our wedding. Ivan sent over a few preview photos the next day, and had ALL of our wedding photos done by the time we got back from our honeymoon. I could always count on Ivan responding to my questions promptly and being extremely organized and reliable. I would recommend Ivan and Monica again and again. Not only are they amazing photographers, but they are genuinely nice people who I am so thankful to have had at our wedding.

while still being genuine and warm. They gave us clear instructions as to which poses they wanted us to do. They accommodated us when we wanted to do non-traditional poses. They played to our strengths because they got to know who we were as human beings during the engagement shoot at Disneyland (other photographers that we interviewed were reluctant to do). I jump pretty high so they made sure we got some jumping photos. My wife worked out really hard for 5 months before the wedding so Ivan and Monica made sure to snap some shots of my wife’s mad gains. We took our first look photos at a hotel 1 mile from our venue and they offered to drive us to the venue before the ceremony. While our coordinators were setting up for the reception at the same venue, Ivan and Monica helped set up. Throughout the reception, they asked us how we were doing and actually cared about us as people instead of solely being concerned with doing their job. Also, Monica helped carry my wife’s massive train multiple times even though that’s not part of her job description. During the first look, I had to wait a bit before the bride showed up. Instead of waiting in silence awkwardly, Ivan engaged in conversation easily with me and the videographer whom Ivan had never met before. After our wedding, we waited anxiously for our photos. Ivan got the edited photos to us 3 weeks after our wedding. Other photographers said their turn around time was a minimum of 6 weeks. We raved about the photos to anybody who wanted to listen. Inevitably, we struggled to choose our profile photographs for Facebook. I normally attain 12 “likes” when I change my profile picture but an Ivan and Monica photograph routinely attains 100+ “likes.” Hire them so that your photos from Ivan and Monica can transform you into the proper social media legend that you were always meant to be. There’s many reasons why we hired Ivan and Monica. Ivan met with us less than 24 hours after we initially contacted him. Throughout the communicating process, they would return calls, text messages and emails promptly (usually within minutes). At the engagement shoot, Ivan’s charm allowed us to feel comfortable enough to hold poses while hordes of people tried photobombing us. On the day of the wedding, we were excited and honored to be photographed by Ivan and Monica. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Ivan and Monica!

We used Ivan for our engagement session in San Diego, CA and for our wedding in Temecula, CA. They made us feel comfortable around them and they took notice of my Pinterest account I set up (for suggested photos and poses). They were even fantastic with our dog - who appeared in our engagement photos and was in our wedding. We were very impressed with them. I highly, highly recommend Ivan. You will not be disappointed.

, a tea ceremony and our wedding day. We were lucky enough that they agreed to travel all the way to Asia with us and was so incredibly accommodating the entire time. They provided ideas and offered to help with even the planning phase! How amazing is that! We were pretty overwhelmed the weeks leading up the wedding and Ivan and Monica basically set up the entire timeline for us and even found an amazing place to do first look photos. They definitely went above and beyond what I think a typical photographer should do. Every few days they would pull us aside to ask if there was anything with the wedding they could help with.. it just proves how much they care about their clients. Ivan did a wonderful engagement shoot in 30 minutes and kept all the wedding shooting on schedule. The pictures were edited very quickly and we are extremely pleased with them. The pictures came in time for my mom to see before she got too sick. He worked around our budget and was very professional in answering questions.

He shot our first engagement session at the always crowded Disneyland and he somehow managed to make it look like the park was shut down just for us. Our photos were INCREDIBLE and you would have thought it was staged. Beyond having a natural gift of knowing when to take the photos, from what angles and at what time, he had an even greater gift of making my now-husband and I feel comfortable in every shot. We were nervous about being photographed but Ivan made us feel so comfortable and was able to get us to relax and enjoy the entire session. He captured genuine love and smiles from us and that was priceless. Our second engagement location was in the City of Orange and he made us look good even against a brick wall! He has an amazing talent and I would recommend him to everyone. (He also shot my sister's wedding and they have never stopped raving about Ivan either!) So by the time our wedding rolled around, we knew we had nothing to worry about. Ivan showed up early, set up, and just went to work capturing moments we didn't even think to capture: getting ready photos, bouquet shots, ring shots, veil/dress/shoes shots, candid photos of pre-wedding rituals, flower girls playing, girls laughing, etc. The entire day continued that way. When we met Monica, his second shooter and wife, it was just icing on the cake. She is just the sweetest, most easy going person. And for all the ladies, it was awesome having a female there. Monica will make sure to fix your hair, your dress, and tell you all the ways to pose so you look skinnier and taller. Having a husband and wife team is also a huge benefit because they can show you all the intimate ways to pose. For part of our engagement photos we had our two dogs, and they totally made it work. At one point Monica took our two dogs so that my husband and I could do some photos of just us two, and poor Monica... my lab took off running with Monica holding onto the leash! She was so great about it though, she never once complained and she was smiling the whole time! We have already been recommending Ivan and Monica to everyone, because they are definitely the best.

I spoke for the first time, I asked him everything from what kind of packages he offered to what kind of equipment he shot with. He was extremely kind answering all my questions and was actually delighted to be speaking to a fellow photographer. His knowledge and openness about his photographic process put me completely at ease; I felt instantly comfortable with him shooting our wedding. He was very open to working with my strong ideas of what I wanted photographically and stylistically for our engagement shoot and ultimately our wedding. Though he'd never shot (that I know of) on a boat, we shot our entire engagement session on a sailboat while at sea, which goes to show how adaptable and proficient he and his second shooter, Monica, are. Pre-wedding day Ivan helped me create a photographic schedule that helped us stay on time and get in almost all of the must-get photos and many more. On the wedding day, they arrived promptly,looked sharp, worked well with our wedding coordinator, and toured the venue to locate the positions they would ultimately shoot from to capture the moments best. At our beach reception, the clouds rolled in and the lighting dramatically changed however both Ivan and Monica were prepared with all equipment (and knowledge) they needed to still shoot beautifully. It is truly a remarkable photographer that can make the images turn out even when the conditions changed. They even hiked through sand and jumped some waves with us to get the shots I really wanted. Additionally it was very easy to contact Ivan via phone call, text, and email. When my venue required me to submit proof of my vendor's insurance, Ivan was more than happy to help and send his to me. We received the engagement and wedding photos about three weeks after we shot them-very promptly. Overall we were extremely pleased with Ivan and Monica's work and extremely blessed to have had them as our photographers. I'd highly recommend Ivan Chen Photography!

We were extremely happy with our wedding pictures, and everyone we showed them to loved them as well. One of our friends (who got married a few years back) even expressed jealousy at our pictures because she and her husband did not pick a good photographer and she hates most of the pictures from her wedding day, whereas I feel the opposite about ours. My husband and I not only liked the portrait pictures, but also the candid shots of guests during cocktail hour and the reception. Seeing the pictures definitely gave us a peek into what everyone was up to while we were in different areas of the venue, and we were delighted to see what else was going on. The pictures of incidental objects (rings, bouquets, centerpieces, non-humans) were also beautiful and help encapsulate the wedding day. We will definitely treasure these photographs for years to come!

e left out. From the beginning he was very professional. He genuinely wanted to understand my style and what I was looking for in my photos. He spent a long time with me on the phone in an almost interview fashion to truly get to know me and my personality as well as my vision for my wedding. Once we decided to go with Ivan, we had our engagement photos which went splendidly. He captured my fiance and I perfectly between him and his assistant's camera. The two hours flew by. Those pictures are amazing, clear, fun, enjoyable. He had asked for pinterest ideas for poses if we had any and I had sent him some. He tried out every single one as well as using the environment. We met once more to discuss the time we had the day of the wedding as well as who we wanted photos with and what specific shots we wanted. I desperately wanted to use a tree and an archway at the reception site. The day of the wedding he was prompt. He tag teamed me and my girls and then scheduled time in for the boys. He even made time for a first look between me and my dad and a special time of prayer between my husband to be and my pastor and I. Any time I asked if we could do something last minute, his answer was always, "Of course, you're the bride." Ivan has a photographer's eye. He sees the perfect backdrops and sizes up pictures, beautifully balancing and framing them using nature and architecture. His demeanor is calm but efficient. He gives clear direction without sounding pushy to get that perfect pose. At the reception we visited those two places that I had mentioned and they did not turn out so well in the photos, nobody's fault, it just looked weird. However, some impromptu shots in our getaway car and in front of the chapel door turned out jaw droppingly beautiful. He uses the surrounding areas to truly enhance the photos he's taking. He took pictures of the reception, every bit, the dancing, eating, cutting of the cake. He even followed us around the room as we talked to people so that we could special pictures with family and friends we had missed, professionally done! He went above and beyond his assignment. He sent me 7 files of at least 300 EDITED pictures and we are in the works for a photo album. He was such a joy to work with and even at the end of an exhausting day, kept his cool even demeanor. One thing I really loved is that Ivan had set up a photo booth with props and fun decorations for me and my guests to be able to simply snap photos of themselves and be funny in front of. We got every photo we wanted from our wedding and also photos of individuals of everyone that came and went to the photo booth. Everything Ivan did was brilliant and I would highly recommend using him for any occasion.

BUT after talking with Ivan we were hooked on having him and his fiance Monica (2nd photographer) come with us to Costa Rica to shoot our wedding. The first time we had all met, they were super nice and really tried to get to know us. They did not pressure us at all into anything which is great! We actually happen to fly out on the same flight and gotten a chance to get to know both Ivan and Monica before our wedding day, which was great! They are such a cute and lovely couple! While in Costa Rica, we actually had a day where we spent on a catamaran and had invited Ivan and Monica out. They were so awesome and had took great pictures on that trip. During the day of the wedding, and with the high humidity in Costa Rica, both Ivan and Monica showed up dressed professionally and went straight to work. The pictures turned out excellent and we love them! We can't thank them enough for capturing memories that will last a lifetime!

They helped find out why certain things werent getting done, when I couldnt. They came and comforted me when I was getting frustrated. They coordinated the cake being brought out for the cutting ceremony (because our venue was short staffed), and they even helped move the cake and clear the table. It was an amazing and heartwarming task after task... Needless to say, the photos are absolutely breathtaking! We love them and couldnt have ask for more memorable pictures. We would give them the highest possible reccommendation to anyone. We look forward to using them again and again. On top of everything... they are even affordable!!! rapher, most people look online and go to wedding events. I was fortunate as I was referred by a classmate to Ivanchenphotography. It was truly a blessing to work with Ivan and Monica. Now I would like to pass that blessing onto others, contact Ivan if you want amazing & gorgeous photos. We loved every shot! One other thing, Ivan does not batch edit photos as most other photographers do, which was very important to me. Go check out his website and see for yourself, photography should be the number one thing on your wedding checklist.

t praise Ivan or Monica (his second shooter) enough; they did an amazing job. The pictures are some of the best I've ever seen (I don't think I'm biased!). I really liked how they were able to pick out details from the background scenery and use them to help frame the shoot. They were really easy to work with, and they were able to bring out the biggest smiles from us! We especially appreciated Ivan's hard work. He returned the pictures to us really fast (wedding pictures were sent to us while we were on our honeymoon!). There were a couple of times we asked for special favors, and he really came through in a big way (e.g. inviting him to the proposal was last minute, and he came a long way in traffic to be there!). Our wedding was by far the biggest event we've planned. We had to work with numerous vendors for the various aspects, and Ivan was by far the best.

states for a photographer that would make our engagement shoot exactly what we wanted, and were lucky to find Ivan and Monica. They took the time to capture the perfect moments in meaningful locations, even though it meant traveling to opposite sides of town in beautiful L.A. Needless to say our engagement shoot was a big success, but once we received our photos (in no time at all!) we were convinced...we HAD to have them at our Texas wedding! Ivan and Monica were not only wonderful during our big day, they made sure to help us with tips throughout the planning stages. From wardrobe tips to scheduling, they were available for all of our questions! I will forever be thankful for their professionalism and courtesy in one of the hottest summers our city has seen! In 106 degree weather, Ivan was able to keep his cool (and ours!) and produce the most wonderful memories of our special day. Now with a baby on the way, we will absolutely be flying them out for family photos and every other important event in our lives!

at doesn't consider themselves to be generally photogenic, I felt very comfortable shooting with Ivan with his direction and expertise. In fact, we liked our shots so much after the engagement shoot, we had him come with us all the way to Taiwan to shoot our wedding reception too!!!
