If you are a groom or trying to outfit groomsmen, I would be very cautious about using J. Alan Formalwear in Clarksville.
I used them to purchase a wedding suit package for my bro...
ther, trusting that a formalwear store would provide more than just a catalog and a rough size estimate. I expected real fit guidance, accurate measuring, and a final suit that actually looked good on him for the wedding. That is not what happened.
At the original appointment, my brother was measured and tried on sample garments in the store. Based on that process, we ordered the suit in good faith. But when the actual suit arrived, it fit nothing like what we expected. The original jacket was too short, too tight, too short in the sleeves, and did not properly cover the backside. The pants were even worse through the seat and rise and rode up visibly in back instead of hanging cleanly the way suit pants should.
This is the part future grooms should pay attention to: once the suit came in and did not fit properly, the store did not step up and take ownership of the problem in a professional way. We went back multiple times over roughly two weeks, raised the same concerns both in person and in writing, and tried repeatedly to get a real solution before the wedding. The larger jacket was only tried after I pushed for a different size, and it immediately fit better, which confirmed that the original jacket had been wrong from the start.
The pants issue, however, was never meaningfully resolved. Instead of treating it like a real fit problem, the store kept characterizing it as “preference.” But if fit preference is so important, that should have been clearly discussed and guided from the very beginning, not used later as an excuse after the suit arrived and obviously did not fit.
What made the experience even worse was the customer service. The communication became defensive and dismissive instead of solution-oriented. Rather than making us feel like they were committed to getting a member of the wedding party into a properly fitting suit, it felt like the focus was on explaining why they were not responsible. In the end, no reliable no-cost remedy was offered. We were told that any further alteration would cost extra, and we were even told we might be better off taking the suit to an outside tailor ourselves.
For a groom, this is exactly the kind of stress you do not want late in the process. Wedding attire should be one of those areas where you can trust the vendor to guide you well, especially if you are paying hundreds of dollars for a jacket and pants. Instead, this became one of the most frustrating vendor experiences of my entire wedding planning process.
My advice to any groom, best man, or groomsman is this: if you use this store, be extremely careful, document everything, take photos at every fitting, and do not assume that being measured there means the final suit will actually fit correctly. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend them for an important wedding purchase

ks questionable, they will double-check and verify the measurements. During the rehearsal, a van arrives and was tailoring tools on hand to ensure the tuxedos fit perfectly. After the wedding, instead of the out-of-town groomsmen trying to find the shop so they can return the tuxedos, J. Alan offers to pick all of the tuxes up at the hotel desk the following day. Lots of styles and varieties to choose from. They also ensure that the color is an exact match instead of just assuming that their red is the same as your apple color. I would highly recommend.
