This space makes for the perfect wedding day! We had our ceremony and reception here. The bridal and groomsmen suites make it so convenient, you can stay in one spot all day! The venue itself is so unique and beautiful, it’s everything we could have ever dreamed of. The photo booth was so fun and such a big hit with our guests. Everything was absolutely beautiful and perfect!!!
Perfect beautiful venue
We had our wedding here on 10/26/2019, and we could not have found a better venue than J. Verno studios! Great location (quieter part of Southside) and the studio is absolutely gorgeous, and makes for great photos. The decor is a blend of both glam and industrial look, and honestly, this place doesn't need any extra decorations. We did most of our first look photos in the third floor loft, and we did family portraits in the photo studio (behind the ballroom). Along with the studio rental, we opted for their photographer package, dishware rental, and also stayed in the third floor loft. We did not opt for the in-house photo booth, but J allowed us to bring our own vendor for a photo booth.
The space rental is slightly expensive compared to other venues, but the pricing is worth it, as we did not spend much on decorations and saved some money by bringing a caterer of our choice. J and Paul were wonderful to work with! They stayed throughout the event to make sure everything ran smoothly. We found it easiest to connect with them via phone or in person, if we had questions, and kept email exchanges for contracts and formal requests. The only downside I would say is that the studio has a small parking lot and we did not opt for valet. But we instructed our guests to park on the street or in one of the south-side works garages, and we did not run into any issues.
We're so glad we chose this venue. We are still getting compliments on how unique and different the space is. It's nice to be in the city, but not downtown. It's artistic and fun--- not your typical "ballroom" but also not a "warehouse". Jay and Paul make it easy to customize what you want out of the space.
This venue was everything my wedding dreams could have ever imagined. Jay, the owner, was very helpful during the planning process and answered all of my questions. It is a lot of work to bring in all of your own vendors, but it is so worth it! This venue is so different and cool, if you book it you will not be disappointed.
Amazing venue. Owner is wonderful and I recommend him as a photographer as well. No problems at all. Every one of our guests complimented us on our choice of venue.
J. Verno was the most beautiful setting we could have asked for to have our wedding! Totally unique. Disclaimer, it is a LOT of work to plan everything on your own in a space like this (basic chairs/tables and lighting are included, but not too much else) but it is well worth it if you're an organizer (or have a planner). Jay was very helpful and responded to my emails quickly and let me stop in a few times, offering advice each time that made our day perfect. Logistics were great with not having to have our guests travel. I would highly recommend this beautiful venue! Thank you to all of the staff for making our day so special!
Very helpful and accommodating, everything was perfect for our day
J. Vernos Studios is by far the best wedding reception studio in Pittsburgh. My husband and I knew that we HAD to have our wedding there from the second we stepped foot into the building. J Vernos is contemporary and chic......it gave us a totally different wedding experience. Compliments about our venue are still coming......family and friends stating "this is the coolest wedding venue we've ever seen." We seated 200 people comfortably within the studio. Paul, building manager, is WONDERFUL to work with. He knows how J Vernos runs inside and out. He helped us with planning, floor lay out, setup, and tear down......there was never a time that Paul didn't promptly get back to us about questions we had. We opted to get the photo booth and it was a HIT!! Jay has a whole entire room dedicated to props (the most props I've ever seen at a photo booth). The photo booth was so fun and so popular there was a line to get pictures taken (which the guests didn't mind because they played with all the props while waiting). The only word of advice I have related to J. Vernos is you MUST book far in advance ( at least 13 months). We went and viewed the venue, went home and discussed budget, and by the time we called back (24 hours later) our date was already booked. However, luckily we were still able to book another date......I couldn't see myself celebrating our marriage anywhere else.
My husband and I are SO happy we had our wedding here! This venue is modern and unique and that is what made us fall in love with it. We did our ceremony and reception here and it went so smoothly (also thanks to our caterer, Yes We Cater). J. Verno add personal touches for you, like your name on the wall, and you can choose the accent color for the walls, which makes it your own. This venue may be slightly more costly than others, but it is worth every penny. We continue to get compliments about amazing our wedding was. My only negative...It is not very easy to get in touch with the owner. Some phone calls and emails went un-answered, but in the end, you have to trust these guys! They know exactly what they are doing and everything came out perfectly. The building manager Paul is beyond helpful. He will be your go-to guy for your event, and he knows the place inside and out. I would HIGHLY recommend this place for your event, and I would suggest that you book Yes We Cater along with it. They are the perfect pair and make our day so special!
I fell in love with J. Verno Studios the minute my mom showed it to my online after a work event she had there. The day I got engaged my fiancé and I called the studios to go in and look at it. Luckily we were able to go in because the day we called they had already booked 2 weekends for the month of September (13 months away). We went down and immediately fell in love with the space. I had already been set on booking, but I needed to make sure my fiancé loved it as well and within seconds he told me to write a check.
It is a space unlike anything else you've seen and that is what makes it so special. It is not just another hotel or banquet hall, it is unique and special in every way. We booked on the spot, almost regardless of price. Unfortunately because I had fallen in love with the space so early I didn't care what it cost. While it WAS extremely expensive for what was provided (just tables, chairs, and lighting) you are getting so much more than that in the atmosphere and décor. It was worth every penny for me.
You MUST be extremely organized and into wedding planning in order to book this venue (or hire a wedding planner). Because nothing is included there is a lot of work associated with booking additional vendors that would normally be included in a hotel or banquet wedding. This was easy for me and I enjoyed the process, but it is not for everyone.
J is hard to get ahold of and he is not very fast at getting back to your emails, but the space manager Paul is always available by phone. Paul is always free to let you come visit the space and was kind enough to let us come down at least 3 times to see the space set up for other weddings so that we could really get a good idea of the layout and what we needed to plan for.
Our wedding was my dream wedding and everything went off without a hitch. Paul typically works the events but because he had a wedding of his own J (John) was present at ours. Everything looked amazing and our slideshow was projected on their new AV system and looked amazing. I have no complaints about my experience at the studios. The only negative side is the location and that fact that you must hire a valet service to park cars. This was a pricey addition to our wedding, but it was essential.
We were able to come in at 11:00 the day after the wedding and clean everything up which was great because no one had to stay late after the wedding to pack up cars.
J. Verno Studios is gorgeous. There is no place like it in Pittsburgh. I fell in love with it right away. However, I am not positive it was worth the stress I encountered with it. Every single question I asked J through email was always met with questions or demands from him, even though I was the one who always initiated contact. This went on all the way until 2 weeks before the wedding (when we had booked the place just under a year prior). I asked for 2 months straight about how/when to figure out the seating/lighting, and didn't get any information until 2 weeks before when I called. And the phone number I had was obviously a cell phone that J carries with him, because he answered while in Florida on a photo shoot. So he had no information in front of him to give me any kind of answers and acted shocked to hear that my wedding was 2 weekends away. He finally later that week gave me Paul, the building manager's number.
Paul, on the other hand, was great. He answered all of my questions and figured out the layout with me the next day. He is also the one who runs the day to day, so it was a lot less stressful that he was the one there the night of the wedding.
Like I said, I love the studio so so much. And all of my guests were in awe of how beautiful and unique it was. But if you want to have your wedding there, get Paul's number right away and deal with him.
J. Verno is a beautiful venue! My guests raved about the space! The space is so unique because you can make it how YOU want it, which is why I selected them. It is a bit difficult because you have to bring every separate vendor in, but it is totally worth it! They also have an awesome photo booth room that displays in the reception room during the wedding which makes for a good laugh. Jay is awesome to deal with, very laid back and to the point. I used him for my photography as well (which you get a package deal when using his space and photography). One thing that I didn't read while booking is that with using the space there, you do have to have a valet service (parking is very limited) and you have to pay a police officer for the night.
I would recommend Jay Verno Studio over and over again! Thank you for making my wedding day a wonderful experience.
Jay was one of the most wonderful people to work alongside! At first, we were not going to be able to decorate the hall until the morning of our wedding, but a few weeks before the wedding he told us that he would allow us to decorate all day (from 9-5) Friday and clean up on Sunday.
In addition, we were able to use his freezer for cookies and fridges for the booze and mixers ahead of time.
His worker, Paul, helped us set up every table and chair - exactly how we wanted.
If I had to do it all over again, I would choose J. Verno!!
In addition, the price seems much higher than over halls, but it includes clean up, set up, tables, chairs, etc. In the end, we did my entire wedding for around $15,000. We saved a lot of money by using our own caterer and bringing in our own booze.
J Verno Studios was a perfect setting for our relaxed, non-traditional wedding. We had both our ceremony and reception there. The space is modern, unique and urban. Paul was a great help in figuring out all of the details. Their bridal suite is amazing, and the studio layout is perfect for a wedding.
We loved getting married at J. Verno. The building manager Paul was amazing! He was extremely responsive and really made sure everything went perfectly at the wedding. The venue is a unique space and a perfect venue to get married. The venue fits 200 seated.
J. Verno Studios was the perfect place for our wedding. It is modern and easy to make your own.
What a great group of photographers. They work well together and get so many angles when shooting. Everyone makes you feel comfortable and welcome.
I cannot express how much I love this venue! It is so unique, fun, contemporary and unlike anything else in Pittsburgh. The best part is every wedding is totally unique, the lighting is personalized and you get to choose every single vendor/detail from linens to your cater to bartenders. I would also highly recommend adding the photo booth, they have TONS of props and was a big hit with our guests!
If you are looking to wow your guests, J. Verno studio is it!
We had our wedding at J. Verno Studios so it seemed nature to have J. as our photographer. I am very happy with my pictures, especially because we were able to have a "sneak peek" of about 14 pictures the Monday/Tuesday afterwards! AND we had all of the prints to look at 2 weeks after! They brought 3 photographers so they were able to capture moments from every angle.
Our wedding a J. Verno Studios was absolutely amazing. We had out ceremony and reception there and we do not have one complaint. Also, J. Verno did our photography and our videography. All of our pictures were stunning and the video was awesome! J. and his assistant Katie were so accommodating, professional, and made our wedding a dream come true.
Awesome venue! J. and Katie were great to work with. When I first visited the studio, I knew this was the place. Not your usual hall, hotel banquet room, or barn. Something totally different. The actually ceremony was in Butler (about 45 minute drive from here) and the reception here, but we got NO complaints from guests. (You can choose to get married here as well). It was totally worth it for everyone. Love all the different rooms, the setup, the modern feel of the whole place. Wasn't the cheapest, but you definitely get what you pay for! All of the guests were so impressed! From the outside, it can be misleading, but once you walk through those red doors, there is no doubt this place is perfect! We also paid for the built in photo booth - definitely worth it for us, our guests loved it. Especially when the video shows up on all of the screens around the studio as people are taking pictures inside the booth. SO FUN! Warning - the pin spots that are listed on one of the forms - they are not included. There was a misunderstanding. We did not know they weren't included, but the problem was cleared up. Pin spot lighting on each table looked fabulous by the way. J. recommended two catering companies and I chose Yes We Cater, Inc. Best move! They do most of the events at the studio and you can certainly tell. They were excellent!! Guests told us it was the best food at a wedding they have ever had. The food stations worked great around the studio, it kept everyone up and mingling. We had approx. 190 people at the reception. I would definitely recommend the studio. Not sure how much longer he is going to rent out the space for weddings, I heard he may not in a few years..but if you can - book as soon as you can!
I had my ceremony and reception all in J. Verno Studios. First, the space itself is gorgeous and allows you to decorate as much or as little as you would like. J. Verno is very nice, and the people that work with him are very available and accommodating. They set up the main space for my ceremony, and then flipped it for my reception. During that time, my guests stayed out in the other rooms/bar area. Everyone loved the space, and couldn't believe how beautiful it was! I just plopped centerpieces down on the tables, but I understand that people go much more elaborate on their own decorations. In any case, I would highly recommend J. Verno Studios for your wedding if you are looking for a place that is gorgeous, unusual, affordable, and lets you choose your own caterer, florist, bar-tending, etc.
We had a fantastic wedding at J Verno Studios! We also bought the photo & video packages as well as the photobooth (which guests LOVED) and were able to do both a bridal and groom portrait before the wedding. They started taking pictures as soon as we arrived (we were able to get ready there since there's plenty of space) and throughout the entire event. We did both the ceremony & reception with a cocktail hour in between. Everyone was great and raved about how cool the place was. Everyone said it was hard to believe that such a modern venue was located in Pittsburgh. Highly recommend it... J was great to work with as was his entire team.
Modern and clean, can use any vendors you choose. Photobooth available on premise and was a big hit with our guests. Check it out if you are looking for something unique in Pittsburgh

When I walked into the Studio, I was floored. I knew I wanted something unconventional for our wedding and this space was perfect!!! It is a hidden gem on the Southside. It’s not cheap & you have to provide everything. They have tables, chairs and ambiance…that’s it. But it allowed us to be creative and gave us flexibility in tailoring the vendors to our own tastes. I did receive complaints from some of our vendors that Jay is a little hard to get a hold of. He is a typical artist, very laid back, very relaxed & not in a big rush to do anything. Emailing is pointless. He will answer the Studio phone during the day and encouraged us to visit as often as we liked. I personally like his style but I’m pretty laid back too. To say our guests loved the place is an understatement. Everyone was just amazed. He encourages you to “crash” a couple of weddings at the Studio so you can see how things run and it’s very helpful.
j. verno studios is one of the most unique venues in pittsburgh. there are different rooms to explore and a fun photobooth with props to add to your wedding. my guests had a wonderful time and had nothing but wonderful things to say about the place. they had different lighting that can be personalized to the bride and groom and there was a video feed of the antics from the photobooth projected on the wall in the main ballroom. the place is artistically unique and can so easily be personalized to each couple. we had free reign to do or bring anything into the venue including alcohol, which saved us lots of money. i can't say enough wonderful things about this place. it's a dream!
If you are looking for a unique an unforgettable reception location, this is it! I loved everything about J Vernos and I still have guests talking about how amazing it was. Guests were saying they felt like they were in a club in NYC. If you have a reception here I would choose to add the photo booth- it was a huge hit and guests LOVED it. My only complaint would be that J was hard to get a hold of at times, but he was very friendly and helpful. They also did our photography, and it is beautiful! I am very impressed with it.
I looked for 2 years for a reception site and as soon as i walked into J Verno I was in love!!! The place is so unique and modern! J is great to work with and also did our photography. There is a seperate area for the cocktail hour and the dinner. All of our guests are raving about the place! You feel like you are in another city and there is no place in Pittbsurgh like J Verno. Hands down the best place ever. The studio offers so many great features...high ceilings, hardwood floors, lighting for atmosphere lighting and they have a built in photobooth and flat screen TVs to show the photobooth pictures. I love this place! I hope one of my friends gets married here so I can go back soon!!!!!
