James has been teaching for the last 12 years in Charleston in all various styles of ballroom dance. Over the last 20 years he has been training and competing in international Latin style of ballroom dancing. He can incorporate his vast experience and styles into customizing first dances for wedding couples. Now a father of two and having a beautiful family for 6 years, James's love of choreographing tailored first dance has grown. Now as a team with his wife Kristen, who has also danced for over 20 years, together they feel lucky to be sharing this experience with you and your loved one!

Working with James to prepare for our first dance at our wedding was hands down the best part of the entire process of preparing for our wedding (even beating out the cake tasting!). He was so patient with us being totally new to any sort of dance instruction, worked with us to find a routine we were comfortable with and capable of doing, and most importantly was so, so much fun to work with every week. There is a high chance we'll be looking to further practice with him even though the wedding dance is over (and it was a blast by the way - we chose a very unconventional song and the routine James came up with with us was perfect in every single way). We also waited until about 5 weeks beforehand to panic and look for guidance for our dance, and he worked an absolute miracle to get us ready and comfortable and truly excited about this big moment in our lives.
Once again James we cannot thank you enough!!

Wow James is an incredible dance teacher. We took three lessons very last minute before our wedding and we nailed a super fun, cool dance. He helped teach us proper dance etiquette and choreographed our first dance for us. It took away all the nerves I had for that part of the wedding. Thank you so much James. Highly recommend James if you’re looking for help with your first dance. Not only is he a talented dance instructor, he is also super cool, easygoing, and kind. We didn't have any dance experience prior to meeting with James, but he was patient and made the experience a lot of fun.
James has a real talent for teaching and our first dance turned out great, all thanks to his guidance. Well worth the time and money.

We used James for our wedding dance choreography, and it was the best choice we could have made. We weren't sure how to find the right person to help us plan our first dance as we were two husbands to be, but James was so the right person. James worked with us on literally every step he planned and was so super patience in teaching us. We laughed and sweated but boy did we have a great time. Then on our wedding day we wowed ourselves and friends and family with our dancing display. If you don't book James, you have no idea at how much fun and expertise teachings you will be missing out on. James- thank you for being each other's first in the dance studio! You were bar none an amazing teacher and we love for it.

James was the best possible choice for helping my husband and my 1st dance for our wedding. My now husband would NEVER dance in front of anyone but it was important to me to have our 1st dance. We decided him having steps to focus on instead of all the staring eyes would be the best plan. James was incredibly patient and fun to learn from. He made us laugh as well as give us tricks on how to remember how to properly do a dance move. He quickly became a friend and our best cheerleader as well as being our teacher. We would recommend James to anyone and everyone!

James is an incredible instructor! We had zero dancing experience prior to working with him, and he helped us perform a beautiful dance that our entire wedding loved! It was one of our favorite moments of the entire wedding, and the memory will last a lifetime. He will truly bring out the best qualities from you and help create a magical dance that is personal to you as a couple. He was very emotionally attentive to us and helped us feel comfortable, even when things got hard. Preparing for your first dance can be intimidating, but with his help, it was actually the most fun part of our wedding process. We struggled throughout our sessions, but he was very patient with us and helped us get over our deepest ruts. He is so attentive, that he made small changes to our routine along the way when we were struggling, instead of forcing us to continue when we were uncomfortable. James actually helped us grow as a couple while teaching us the philosophy of dancing. The foundation that he taught us was so good that I was actually able to create my own dance routine with my mother on my own! We cannot recommend him enough. He is not only a great instructor, but a wonderful person.
James also had amazing communication and was professional every step of the way.

My husband and I took lessons with James for a few months leading up to our wedding. It was hands down our favorite part of planning. It gave us time to focus on each-other in the craziness of planning and have so much fun as well. James put together the most beautiful dance for us. He added dips and lifts and spins, all the things to make it stand out and gorgeous. When the day came we performed it perfectly and it was such a special part of our special day. We plan to take more classes with James in the future! I highly recommend using this company!

James is incredible! Asking him to help us with our wedding dance was one of the best wedding decisions we made. He worked with us in a short amount of time because of our schedules, he cared greatly and always went the extra mile to make our classes fun and to work with our skill sets! Everyone loved our dance at the wedding too. The moment was so fun and was such a hit! We truly can’t recommend James enough. He was professional, kind and caring. LOVE LOVE LOVE!! My husband and I got married 9yrs ago and every time we look at our dance video, we can’t believe we did that!! Ha. I love to dance but my husband, as he always says “has 2 left feet”. They were so much fun to work with, James kept us laughing the whole time, which was great, especially when he said there was going to be a lift in the dance! They took 2 people who couldn’t dance and made us feel like we could do whatever they threw at us. We loved every minute from learning, practicing, and then surprising everyone on our wedding day with this beautiful routine!! Thank you so much for making our special day even more amazing!!

James was simply AMAZING! He would have 10 stars if I could give them! He Tailored our dance to us as individuals! He took special time and attention to each one of us as an individual. My husband was very shy and reserved about the dance because he has no dancing experience whereas I have been dancing for years, but James made him feel comfortable. We continued our dance lessons even after the wedding due to my husbands new found confidence in dancing!It was an unforgettable moment that we will treasure forever!!!!!!
