From the beginning he was very professional and knowledgeable. He knows the right questions ask, helps pull together a musical vision for the big day, and overall really orchestrates the full experience. He is organized and making the planning process so easy. We had him DJ the full event: ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception! He is the perfect “emcee” helping move the guests into each portion of the evening - announce speeches, dances, etc.- adding a perfect amount of fun and good energy without being the center of attention.
For the reception portion of the ceremony, he reads the room incredibly well! James knows when it’s time to switch up the vibe, how to get people on the dance floor, and most importantly how to ensure the couple getting married are having the time of their lives.

l, organized, and thoughtful. He helped us plan every musical detail, from guest arrival and the ceremony to cocktail hour, dinner, and the dance floor, and ensured the timing, transitions, and tone were seamless.
He made the planning process so easy and collaborative. He encouraged us to create a playlist of songs that represented our style and favorites, then curated a custom set that felt uniquely us. It never felt like a typical wedding playlist; it felt like our wedding.
James also went above and beyond during the reception, helping set up and test microphones and speakers for our speeches to make sure everything sounded perfect. What really stood out was how much he thought about every detail. He even helped us strategize how to get people on the dance floor by assigning a few “kick-off” guests to start the party, and sure enough, it was packed all night. The dance floor energy was incredible, and we’re still getting messages from friends and family asking for his info and saying it was some of the best wedding music they’ve ever heard.
From start to finish, James delivered a flawless experience and went above and beyond to make our day perfect. If you’re getting married at Audrey’s Farmhouse, or anywhere, honestly, hire him. You won’t regret it. 12/10 across the board.

from the beginning of our planning process that we wanted to have a reception that included both a dance floor and karaoke, but we didn’t know the best way to execute it. In our first meeting with James, he presented a plan for how to make the combination of the two activities work together and we felt immediately at ease, knowing that he had both the experience and the creativity to bring our idea to life. Beyond the ideas for the dance floor, he also shared more general advice on how we might structure our day, sharing his experience and expertise in a way that was genuinely helpful and affirming.
We were also grateful for his extensive experience at our venue - Brooklyn Grange Navy Yard - which we had been told could be tricky to navigate in terms of technical needs. The first-hand knowledge that he possessed of the venue gave us confidence to focus on the big picture instead of worrying about minute details. We felt thrilled knowing the technical aspects in addition to the artistic/party vibes were in excellent hands!
In the lead up to the event, James shared a very comprehensive worksheet for us to fill out, which not only helped us envision the party we wanted to throw, but the overall experience of the day. As we finalized details with James, he was very thoughtful in ensuring that our vision was well executed, and also taking into consideration the needs of our guests. He asked questions that revealed his clear experience and desire to make sure EVERYONE had a great time at our wedding.
On the day of the wedding, James had clear mastery of the AV domain, setting up equipment for both the ceremony and party. During our ceremony, he had even worked with our officiant to play some fun sound effects during a light-hearted moment.
For the reception, James delivered a party!! He immediately locked in on the vibe of our guests, playing songs that kept everyone on the dance floor, singing along at the tops of their lungs, and dancing full out. And the karaoke we mentioned? It was flawlessly executed! James suggested we have sets of dancing broken up by karaoke, and that structure worked incredibly well. It gave everyone a chance to take a break from the dance floor if they wanted, but as the night went on, no one left the dance floor, screaming along to karaoke, and treating the karaoke sets as if they were a standard set! He also did an incredible job balancing the karaoke songs played - mixing pop punk with musical theatre and 80s hits in a way that kept everyone fully engaged (even if the particular song wasn’t their style). We had no idea how everything would work on the day of, but James delivered and helped us create one of the most memorable nights of our friends, family’s, and our lives. We were SO blown away at how clear it was that James understood both us and our guests.
Finally, James was a true joy to work with! He is genuine, personable, and cares about his clients. He brought so much energy to our wedding, and entered every conversation with kindness and thoughtfulness that gave us confidence in his ability. Multiple friends told us that it was the most fun wedding they had attended and there is no doubt in our minds that James is a HUGE reason why. We could not recommend working with James more!!

If you’re looking for a DJ who doesn’t just hit play or make hard cuts between songs, James is the DJ for you. James blends the songs togther in a seamless, thoughtful and tasteful way. His playlist was a perfect mix of the songs nearest and dearest to us and kept true to our vibe with the songs he filled in. Friends even asked for the playlist!
James also played a big part in helping our wedding ceremony shine. He provided top-notch audio support - both for our officiant and our processional, recessional music. We were well taken care of during one of the most intimate moments of the wedding day.
Your DJ is also your reception MC and James did a terrific job with that part of the evening as well. The night always felt on track thanks to James’ steering and coordination with our venue staff. He checked in with us throughout the wedding night, making our speakers comfortable, ensuring our conga line stayed on track, and so much more.
Working with James in the lead-up to the wedding was also seamless and a fun process. He provided ample guidance and structure, but also enough breathing room to support us as our vision for the wedding evolved. We had a blast working with James! lot of large scale events for my day job, and it’s incredibly rare to find someone who excels in both the creative and the technical, but James is the complete package.
He went above and beyond to accommodate last-minute changes; my parents were going back and forth on whether they’d participate in the toast / parent dances, and he handled it with so much flexibility and grace. He also thought of the smallest details, like how to position the mic for each person and which sorts of transitions would work in between each toast.
James also paid close attention to our vows and surprised us with one awesome song in particular that referenced back to them. It was incredibly thoughtful!
He also collaborated incredibly well with our live sax player — they worked beautifully together in no small part to James’ leadership and initiative with the sound set up.
On top of all that, James was a fantastic MC, keeping the flow smooth and the vibes absolutely perfect. Our guests had the best time, and we’re so grateful to him for making the night unforgettable. Highly, highly recommend!

On the wedding day itself, James absolutely blew our expectations out of the water. One of the most special and thoughtful moments came during the Best Man speech. Our Best Man mentioned a song we used to always listen to back in college. Without us even requesting it, as soon as the speech ended and we hugged our Best Man, James played that song — just from catching it in the speech. It was such a small but incredibly meaningful detail, and so many of our friends noticed and commented on how sweet and personal that moment was.

Firstly, I had an amazing introductory chat with him for nearly an hour where he joyfully and patiently answered all my questions and gave a detailed idea of how the night would go. He was so kind and present, I really felt like I was dealing with a peer and not just someone who wanted to book their next gig.
James dealt with my EXCESSIVE Do Not Play list (I mistakenly made it way, WAY too long) and he handled it with creativity and joy; he was happy to take on the challenge and of course included all of my "must plays". He mixed a lot of fun latin music for me + my family, classic rock for my fiancé and I'd dads, plenty of modern pop dance music for us and our friends, and SOMEHOW managed to get everyone dancing to my fiancé's favorite band the Grateful Dead at the end. It was truly unreal, the diversity of genres he packed seamlessly into one night. Best playlist ever. (I still listen to it!) I didn't leave the dance floor all night, and it was largely packed for most of the night, ending on the highest note. Dream dance floor come true.
Also, he has a really great tone/delivery as he emcees. He's not too performative or trying to get everyone overly "hype" in any contrived way- he's warm, professional, and happy- but lets his talent and music do the work for him. It was spectacular.

From our very first call, James' energy felt like an exact mirror of our own and we knew we had to work with him. Aside from being SO good at what he does, he's also thoughtful, prepared and just a great person to work with from start to finish. He's the very definition of a consummate pro!
James completely understood the vibe we were after and made our wedding the most fun party we have ever been to. We had some specific requests for our multi-generational, multi-cultural guests (like samba and more) and James masterfully transitioned from song to song. The result was music that felt like the perfect reflection of us as a couple and a dance floor that was packed the entire night. He couldn't have nailed our vision better if he tried!
After the wedding, James provided us with a live recording of our wedding set, which included speeches and toasts. We've listened to it a number of times since and are immediately transported right back to the best night of our lives. We had a bit of an eclectic wishlist for our songs, (including a custom mashup for our first dance) but also wanted to ensure all our guests had a good time and felt inspired to dance. James crafted a playlist wit the perfect balance and gave great recommendations for songs and order to avoid any jarring mood transitions. In the weeks leading up to the day, he was in constant contact and made sure he was clear on every detail—even checking in with us periodically throughout the night to make sure we were enjoying ourselves.
You can tell James took time to read through our song requests, study it, and figure out exactly what would keep the energy high throughout the night. The dancefloor was quite literally never empty. Even down to the lighter music played during dinner—I don’t know how he did it but it’s as if he accessed our most listened to songs on Spotify and managed to curate a playlist of all our favorite music.
Looking back, there’s not a single thing we would have asked James to do differently. He understood the vision, he read the room incredibly well, and we received dozens of comments from guests about how much they loved the music. We loved knowing that absolutely everything was covered. From our initial Zoom call with him we knew we could totally trust him to "do his thing" - we gave him some genres (90s hip hop & RnB, please) and a few examples of songs we liked, and boy did he deliver. EVERY. SINGLE. SONG he chose was a 10/10. And that included some not so common Australian hits that wouldn't be on his usual rotation. On top of that, he MC's so naturally and kept the reception moving so smoothly. James was first described to us as "A DJ that does weddings, not a wedding DJ." For us, a couple nervous about having "that wedding DJ" with an obnoxious vibe, this was great news....
It only got better from there. James guided us through the song/vibe selection of the whole day, encouraging us to take risks, but also letting us know when maybe we were taking it too far: he nixed the idea of having a pretty obscure Irish rebel song as the last song at our wedding, which was an extremely good choice. We went with Bohemian Rhapsody instead.
Day of, James was reliable and professional, but also a great time. He took care of all the sound of the outdoor ceremony and indoor cocktail hour without a hitch. Our dance floor did not stop moving and grooving, and while I have to give some credit to the guests, James read the room well all night and kept the party going. He also didn't make the mistake of many wedding DJ's, interjecting into the music too often, instead letting the tunes speak for themselves.
We couldn't recommend James more. While we ended up with decently traditional wedding music, he let us know that he's also successfully DJ'd weddings for metal heads and for fans of UK Garage, an impressive range of genres.

Our wedding was a clash of two cultures -- American Midwest and New York Dominican -- and James was exceptional at following our feedback about mixing country music, bachata, salsa, pop, reggaeton, dembow, oldies, rock, and so much more. And he did it with such ease, grace, and elegance that it felt so natural for everyone attending! Everyone felt included and had the best time. He also provided great suggestions on where to cut-off songs for first dances, as well as how to get the party started when it was time to dance. My only complaint is I wish we had a longer reception for more dancing because I never wanted the music to end! Seriously, must-have for your big day!

And the results were exactly what we’d hoped! All of our sound went off without a hitch, it sounded great. People in the back during the ceremony remarked that they felt that they were right up there with us. He even sent us a recording of the audio from the wedding, something which we didn’t realize he would have and came as such a lovely surprise.
When it came to the dance floor, everyone was blown away. He did such a great job of working in the songs we wanted to hear, filling in gaps, managing everyone’s energy. I was honestly stressed out because I knew I had to go chat with friends and family but I simply did not want to stop dancing. People across generations kept the dance floor completely full all night.

During the ceremony he MC’d with elegance, had a great sounding & great looking setup, and was able to coordinate 120+ people with poise. He never missed a cue, and was able to coordinate with our live musicians seamlessly.
When it was time to party, he executed perfectly and we kept a lively dance party going for 3 hours straight. He transitioned beautifully from music that worked for all our guests of all ages, to the final party group at the end (the rowdy youths).

From our initial meeting, James listened to us when we said we didn't want our wedding to feel or sound like any other wedding. We primarily wanted 90s and early 2000s music, but not the songs one traditionally hears on repeat at weddings (think Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Nelly Furtado etc.). James has an extensive knowledge of music, ranging across decades and genres, and because of that out did himself on the playlist, having everyone (young and old) dancing the entire night, regardless of the song's genre.
James was also very communicative with each of our vendors which was crucial in making the night go smoothly. There was never a lull in the events or any confusion on where to go and when. We owe a lot of that to James for ensuring that what was going on behind the scenes was communicated to our guests without coming across as pushy or too assertive. As a result, our guests, and ourselves, felt at ease throughout the night, and for that we are so grateful.
While we could go on, we hope the above sheds a bit of light into how much we adore James and would recommend him to anyone looking for an incredible DJ. We can't wait for the next opportunity to dance the night away with him in the city.

But these DJ’s can’t hold a candle to James. He has an amazing ability to read the crowd, to cater the music to your specific tastes, to take control of the room but also not be overbearing. I’ve attended one wedding in 5 years where I had just as much fun as my own wedding, and the common thread? Was JAMES as the DJ. The DJ is arguably the most important factor in your wedding. For the reception, he was an excellent emcee and helped the event flow perfectly. He was very flexible in incorporating the order of events that we wanted (an early dance set, table game, etc.) and adhered to the timeline. His systems for preparing for your wedding makes the entire planning process fun and stress-free. His vast experience and knowledge gave us full confidence in him, and he was able to offer tips that improved our planning and the experience of the day.
A few (of the many!) reasons why James shines: he’s able to execute the timeline without things ever feeling rushed. He’s attuned to and able to manage interpersonal dynamics that may arise. He has stellar equipment and expertise in handling tricky logistical setups. And, on top of it all, he’s able to craft set lists based on your tastes, but with surprises you didn’t even know you wanted (the seamless transition from the White Lotus theme into JLo’s “Waiting for Tonight” during the dance set was bananas).
Our wedding was at Eastwind Hotel in Windham, New York in June 2023, all events were outdoors, in three different locations. It was not the easiest setup, but James arrived early and handled all the load-in himself. He worked seamlessly with the other vendors: providing audio inputs for the videographer, coordinating with the planner to make sure there was amplification throughout the day. He brought all of his own equipment: great quality mics, speakers, extension cords, etc. He also handled curveballs that came his way: the reception was outside under a tent, and about 30 minutes in it started raining. James kept the party going while moving all of his gear out of the rain. We were completely unaware that he had to multitask, only realizing how brilliantly he had handled the inclement weather after the evening was over!
Icing on the cake: the day after the wedding, he sent us audio files of the ceremony, the toasts, and the music sets from the cocktail hour, reception, and the dance party. The audio quality is phenomenal, and listening to the recordings brings us right back to the day. It’s such a gift.
On top of it all, James is kind and thoughtful and a total joy to work with. We can’t wait to go to his next set in Brooklyn! Hire him! You’ll be grateful you did.

He is also an excellent steward for your event, knowing when to play the songs that will get guests out of their seats, transitioning from music for the "adults" to music for the "kids" in a way that everyone felt like the songs were for them, and ensuring that only those you want to have access to the microphones do. NYC in Coxsackie, NY. Not only did James provide the best curation and sound quality we (and our guests) have ever experienced at a wedding, but his thoughtful and calm demeanor provided us the experience we could’ve asked for. He Is truly special.
From a curation standpoint, he worked with us to develop the overall sound and feel that fit our tastes but also those of our diverse audience, without relying on the line dances and “wedding hits” that so many other DJs lazily rely on. What felt like a hopeless endeavor because tangible with James’ help, and ultimately very successful. Friends and family, old and young, couldn’t believe how great the music was! I mean this with all sincerity: I’ve never seen a dance floor so packed with so much energy. Shirts being ripped off, ties being connected for a limbo line, songs being sung like anthems. Everything we wanted and more.
There were a few potential pitfalls with the audio for our wedding. The ceremony was outside next to the Hudson River, which frequents many motorboats and jet skis that could make our service inaudible. Also, the reception hall was large and not necessary built with acoustics in mind. James went the extra mile to make sure ensure the sound quality would be audible for everyone. He arrived early to run 100+ feet of audio cable between the main space and atrium, set up satellite speakers for background level on the sides of the room, used bigger speakers for the ceremony, and even bought extra gear. These pitfalls never became a factor, even with a parade of boats driving by during the ceremony.
Most importantly, James personable and calm demeanor eliminated any worries we had. He MC’d the important moments, chatted with friends and family, and came over to see if we were having a good time. His personality is the reason we picked him in the first place, but he exceeded our lofty expectations.
I wish you a fantastic wedding, and if you’re looking for stellar music and an even better experience then James needs to be your DJ.
