I knew James would be our wedding photographer three minutes into our conversation. He was warm and lovely and knew exactly what we were looking for. There was an instant connection. I also knew that we would be comfortable with him even if we were to meet him for the first time, on the big day. The photos he took were stunning and arrived on a beautiful hard drive quite quickly. He even sent us a few fun shots to get excited about during the short time that we waited for the rest to arrive. My only regret is that we didn’t hire him for longer. I wish he had been there since the moment we started getting ready, until the moment the last guest left. I look forward to future photoshoots with this incredible talent!

James Rubio was probably the best photographer I've ever worked with. I can't say enough positive things about how amazingly unique his photos were - and how easy he was to work with. We found out about James through my wife's sister - who used James almost a decade earlier on her wedding. We were so impressed by those photos we had to use him for ours. He did not disappoint I'm happy to say. The final product from our wedding were photos that we found simply incredible. They were unique, they captured the tenderness of the moment and in my view are masterpieces of art. We will cherish those photos forever. If you are considering a photographer for any occasion you should use James. He will create memories so amazing, and different than you thought was capable of capturing - its worth every cent you spend.

James and Bev were nothing short of AMAZING! We absolutely loved all of our wedding shots and couldn't have been happier with the results. I can honestly say that James and Bev are absolutely AMAZING! Living in San Diego I had done an incredible my research prior to booking my wedding photographer on the Big Island. I knew I could trust James Rubio's creative eye to give us the shots that we were looking for and WOW did he ever :) The photos they delivered were STUNNING and magazine worthy. Leading up to the weeding day communicating with James and Bev was easy and the day of they made us both feel very comfortable. Not even an active Volcano or hurricane could stop them from delivering our photographs, now that's dedication! We highly recommend James Rubio to anyone who is looking for a wedding photographer!! James and Bev are truly amazing! They worked very well with us, even though we were long-distance and had not met in person prior to our rehearsals (my husband and I grew up in Hilo, but have been living in Tucson, AZ). They made the process so simple for us. In addition to taking on a difficult project, being as our wedding was indoors, inside of a darkened planetarium so that we could have the stars and constellations above us. The quality of their work, and how well they were still able to capture all of our "major" moments is incredible! James is definitely able to take on any wedding, in any setting. We are very pleased with our experience.

We cannot say enough good things about James and Bev and their work! My fiance and I planned a pre-wedding honeymoon back in march in Hawaii and took the opportunity to have our engagement pictures taken over there. I was a little apprehensive with working with someone without even meeting them beforehand but both James and Bev are amazing. Initially we had no idea on where to take the pictures, it was our first time visiting Hawaii, and they not only helped us to pick a location but had the most patience with me about changing places and time and everything. Bev is such a sweetheart, she was the one I had the most contact with, either through emails or text/phone calls and James is the artist. Our pictures turned our amazing and everyone we show them to love them. We couldn't be happier and more in love with the photos!! If you are looking for an amazing high quality and professional photographer in Hawaii, James Rubio is the perfect choice.

Bottom line, James is fantastic. From our first conversation to our last, James has been absolutely amazing. Friends and family will always compliment your photographer and their work because that is their job. However, we've received hundreds of compliments from family, friends, strangers on social media and even from printing sources on the work that James (&Tracy) &Bev have done. It's truly a testament of genuineness when people go out of their way to pay you a compliment. We had nearly 800 photos from our 6 hour wedding session and from our day after underwater session, and EVERY.SINGLE.ONE of the photos are awesome. As the bride and groom it's easy to say that we are a little biased because it was our wedding, so each photo has a special meaning, but that being said, each-photo-has-a-special-meaning. James was able to capture the true emotions and energy of our wedding to create those special meanings. People will always want their standard shots, stare at the camera, smile on 3, and you should get those, but trust us when we say "just have fun and let James do the work." Our favorite photos are of us looking at each other laughing, having fun, living. On our first conversation with James, I asked him about underwater photos. He had done a few sessions but said that he would deliver and boy he was not wrong. I followed him on instagram and saw that since our convo he had been practicing and snapping some amazing pictures. Don't be shy to ask him for what you want and be upfront. He is absolutely willing to take on a challenge. Despite salt water, tides and treading water with my dress and train flowing, James was able to capture our adventurous side and deliver some extremely romantic pictures with some AMAZING light. We can't say enough about James and his crew. His down-to-earth, wholesome personality & his insanely talented abilities made such a positive impact on us, not to mention, we have 800 amazing photos that capture that special moment forever. We love you James & Bev!

James is hands down the best photographer we have ever worked with. He is friendly and down to earth and is willing to go the extra mile to get amazing photos, as he did for our wedding. Wow, such an AMAZING photographer - easily one of the easiest parts of the wedding. I emailed James, we talked about what kind of pictures I liked, he sent a VERY detailed questionnaire (what pictures do you want, any awkward family situations he should be aware of, etc.) James showed up early to the wedding, was very professional but also extremely easy to get along with. My husband and I are shy and introverted, but he was easy-going and helped get us out of our shell! We just got our pictures back (within the promised timeframe) and they look amazing! I can't recommend James Rubio Photography enough.

I cannot say enough good things about James! He was truly the best investment of my entire wedding!My best friend found him for me, and from the moment I actually clicked on his website I was enthralled in his work. Not any other photographer moved me, like James' work. His work provoked emotion and a feeling of connection with the subject in EVERY SINGLE one of his pictures. I couldn't find, not one, session that I didn't absolutely love! I knew that I had to have James as my photographer. He was the first person, after my planner, that I booked. It was the greatest choice I made and I'm so happy we did. Great quality work, VERY professional and his wife Bev was such a great help through everything. They worked with all of my needs and was very understanding about all the traveling that my wedding required. I'm forever grateful to James and his second shooter Leiko. They did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier to say he was my photographer. Everyone always compliments on how gorgeous our pics are and how they look like they should be in a magazine, and each time I hear that type of response it just solidifies the fact that I made an incredible choice by choosing James Rubio Photography!!!

James & Bev - what an amazing, talented team! When we first contacted them, they were quick to respond and answer any questions, and you could sense how warm and friendly they were just thru their emails :) After looking thru the portfolio online, there was no question about booking them - the photos are breathtaking. And after we did book them, they even sent a care package with some cookies and a handwritten thank you note!!! Working with them was so easy - they were punctual, friendly and fun. They weren't bossy, never got upset, and adapted to everything at the wedding. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, and we plan to book them again for a trash the dress session on our anniversary next year ;)

James and Bev were so pleasant to work with and they are SO talented. Everything about their photos are perfect, and they are really good at going with the flow of the wedding and using otherwise unfortunate occurrences (i.e. rain) to get amazing and adorable photos! Love their candid style, too!
