I took my dress and a bridesmaid dress to Jamie. I’ve gone back. She did a wonderful
job and I will go back with everything I have. Thanks, Jamie!
I visited this store with some of the bridesmaids to get fitted for a dress. The girl who took out measurements was rude, we waited 30 minutes (even bough we had an appointment), they acted offended that one of the girls brought her child (who was well behaved the entire time), and I have been fitted for enough bridesmaid dresses to know where my hips are and she was measuring each of us in the wrong place. When she told us the dress sizes we should order, we all agreed things were off. Thankfully we didn't end up ordering from there. My husband went to get fitted for his tux and another worker insisted he was 3 inches shorter than he is (yes they actually argued with me!)- shocker that his pants were too short when they came in. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. The staff was rude and the service was poor.
Let me first state that I worked for Jamie for 1 1/2 years at her new location at 186 S Main St. I hope this review serves as a warning to both present and future customers that are thinking of having their items done here.
Jamie prioritizes people she likes. Some people have to wait not 1 month, not 3 months, but sometimes a whole YEAR or longer before she begins working on even small requests! If this wasn't bad enough, be aware that she also loses customers' clothes! So if you don't get a call, likely she has lost your items or their stuffed in the back.
Secondly she will try to sway you into buying items that she insists you need, such as adhesive bras. The one's in the shop are extremely expensive and are usually unnecessary.
Also, if you like to be talked about behind your back, then Jamie has you covered! I was shocked when I first began working for Jamie, a sweet customer who seemed to be on good terms with Jamie had just left the shop. As soon as the shop door closed, Jamie quipped "I can't stand that bitch."
She makes fun of customers' body shapes when working on dresses, saying she doesn't know how to get it to fit because of how "weird" their figure is. She also makes fun of the fabric type, or color, or whatever else she can talk down.
If your order had a quick overturn time, then consider yourself extremely lucky. Most people are lied to by Jamie when she leads them on with, "Oh, it will be done by next week."
Over the course of time I worked here, I had to comfort customers who had broken down in TEARS because of Jamie. I was always instructed that I had to deliver unfavorable news to customers "Because it sounds better when you do it." This means when she screwed up, which was everyday, I had to be the one to handle (understandably) enraged customers.
This is the most unprofessional, disorganized, snottiest business I have ever seen in my life, and am relieved I am not associated with it any longer.
I absolutely recommend an alternative seamstress shop in Toledo called "Alterations & More". I recently had custom-made pillows done here and they were extremely nice, affordable, the shop was clean, and the turnaround time was less than a week.
Good luck.
As the mother of the bride, trying to find three mismatched yet matching dresses in a certain color palate and style----I found Jamie to be incredibly helpful. She altered two dresses purchased elsewhere and then used her keen eye to help us find one in her shop to fit our third daughter. She also helped me alter my jacket to feel and look less matronly. I am very thankful for her help! I highly recommend Jamie as she is professional, talented, and honest.
I went to a local seamstress that does my alterations. She was able to create a beautiful gown for about $250. I would reccommend this idea for women who are petite and have a hard time fitting into 'regular' dresses at bridal stores.;My designer took a long time to get started on the dress adding a lot of extra stress.
