Booking JD for our wedding was hands down one of the best decisions my husband and I made. We knew immediately by looking at the photos on his website that his style would perfectly capture our wedding day. Working with him was an absolute joy. My husband and I hired Salt and Sonder for our wedding in September 2023. JD and Nellie were a dream to work with! JD is so easy to work with, so professional, and knows what he is doing. From the first meeting, we knew we needed them to do our photos. We didn't want typical posed photos- mostly because they can be cheesy, but also I was worried about us looking stiff because neither my husband nor I are photogenic/comfortable in front of the camera. It was the best decision for us to go with photojournalist photographer. We barely even knew JD was around taking photos and that helped us relax and we have some amazing candids. JD was so great to work with! I love his style of photography and he offered me great guidance. I only listed a few photos I wanted and he made sure to double check with me that the family would be okay with this. He also helped to keep us on schedule very well, suggesting times for us to all get dressed and such. My husband loved his assistant, Tom, as well. He said the groomsmen had a great time with him. JD was amazing from the second I emailed to inquire about my wedding. He has a clear price list and description of his photography style (along with numerous references) so I knew exactly what I was getting. He responded extremely quickly the entire time we worked together, and even after the wedding, answering any questions I had. He also got my photos back to me in record time and they are amazing! His style is more candid, but he took gorgeous posed photos as well. My wedding day was really warm and he and his second shooter David were drenched in sweat, but they were so kind and professional despite the conditions. JD is amazing! Truly the best photographer I have ever seen/worked with. JD did our engagement photos in Yosemite, to our microceremony during Covid, to our final Wedding day at the Please Touch Museum. Our experience with JD was absolutely amazing. I am so so so glad I found him - he was EXACTLY what I was looking for! I knew I wanted a photographer who would capture the story of the day and get pictures of my friends and family's experiences of the day as well. I didn't want a photographer who just pointed their camera at me all night. I will cherish JD's photos forever. He was so attentive to what we wanted and truly did an amazing job. Our portraits came out stunning and despite being a photojournalist, JD was still a pro at posing us and helping us take beautiful staged photos. But it's truly the photos from the rest of the day and the party that highlight the joy everybody felt at our wedding. He was very quick in getting us a sneak peak of our pictures and ultimately getting us the complete set! You will not regret working with him!!

JD is a seasoned professional! We are In love with our engagement and wedding photography! He is able to capture emotion and the moment very well. JD and Salt & Sonder were far and away the best vendor decision we made for our wedding. From the beginning, JD was professional, clear, helpful and positive. He is laser focused on giving you the photos that you and your partner care about the most. He takes several hours pre-wedding to talk through what is most important for the flow of the day, what matters most to you, and how to make the day less stressful. On the day of, he was so calm and clear, and he and his 2nd Tom were fantastic at being true flies on the wall. The photos are GORGEOUS, and the amount of beautifully framed candids is really impressive. He totally captured the spirit, joy and love of the day. I would recommend him to anyone looking for organic and meaningful photos that tell a story.

I am not sure where to begin as I can hardly come up with the words to describe how happy we are that we found and booked JD Land as our wedding photographer! From the moment we met him we knew his hands off/ REAL candid/photojournalism was exactly our style. Fast forward to 2020 pandemic chaos, JD was by far our BEST and most accommodating vendor when it came to rescheduling our wedding, we couldn't be more grateful for his character and integrity during this time. When we finally got to have our 2021 NYE wedding, he and Tom couldn't have done a better job capturing everything from the most intimate and special side moments to the important formalities and the party. JD is the man! I found jd on instagram and had a zoom meeting with him. He answered all my questions and was very down to earth. If you search his instagram you will see all candid shots that he captured without telling people what to do. He is all about telling your day how it happened. No acting. Jd also does family portraits and a good amount of couple portraits. He tells you exactly how to stand without feeling awkward. Jd has a great personality and is a very calming photographer. He really knows how to handle the day with the perfect timeline. Book jd now. You won’t regret it. He is the real deal. No cheesy sit on the bed photos with him.

JD was above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined in a photographer. He was so professional and courteous to what my husband and I wanted for our wedding day. My husband is not the best at smiling on command but he has a great natural smile that you have to catch in the moment. JD did just that with so many amazing photos! JD’s attention to detail and being able to capture the big and little moments of our day has meant so much to us and we will be able to keep those memories forever with these photos.

JD made a very difficult (covid) wedding a complete dream, leaving us with the most beautiful memories we could ever ask for! We had to reschedule our wedding day 3 times due to covid, and every time he was our first call. He was beyond accommodating in offering openings, was always available to talk and honored his contract to a T! On top of that, he was incredible engaged with us, learning OUR love story, our family history, things we NEEDED, things we wanted, and things we didn't. On top of being the nicest guy there is, his photos are amazing! Every. Single. One. My husband Lucas and I came across JD’s portfolio online after doing a search for photographers in our area. The moment we saw his photos we knew that we had to have him capture our wedding day. We fell in love with his photojournalistic style, where the photos captured moments in time, locking in those memories forever. We decided to book our engagement photos with him as well, which was wonderful. The day of the engagement photos was so hot and humid, but he made the experience fun and we both felt very comfortable in front of the camera. JD’s direction on poses were so easy to follow, we had such a hard time selecting just one picture for our save the dates! Fast forward months later, we found ourselves making the tough decision to postpone our big wedding until 2022 due to COVID. But after being together for almost 10 years, we decided we still wanted to get married and celebrate with immediate family and close friends on our original date. JD was ready to pivot with us! He made the whole process so simple and easy and we were happy to have him there for our minimony. Just like our engagement photos, we flipped through our wedding photos over and over, remembering instantly that day even months later. There were so many photos where we asked each other, “did you even know he was there?” JD captured our wedding day like a fly on the wall, and we were amazed at his creativity and eye for capturing wonderfully sweet moments. Our experience with JD at Salt & Sonder was flawless. We booked JD initially for our September 2020 wedding; but, obviously COVID had other plans. Rescheduling to July 2021 with JD was super easy and seamless. You can tell from very early on that JD cares very much about his craft and making sure he's capturing the moments that mean the most to you. Me and my husband filled out many surveys and had detailed conversations with JD about our families, our vision, and what the overall day would and should look like. I felt extremely confident going into our wedding day that, despite never meeting him, JD understood and knew me & my husband, and he was going to produce a really solid story for us. Our wedding day was awesome. JD and the second photographer, Megan, were on top of their game. They were there—but never in the way. JD paid attention to all of the little things I mentioned (i.e. I prefer to stand on one side over the other, make sure my strapless dress was positioned correctly, etc.) and made sure all the little details were set. One of my favorite and most appreciated things about JD on our wedding day and during the planning process was his opinions. I know that may sound weird, but we worked with so many vendors that would reply with, "whatever *you* want" when I asked a question/their opinion. I always wanted to be like, "aren't you the professional!?" JD, on the other hand, always confidently and appropriately gave his professional opinion. This was SUPER helpful in general - and especially on a day as crazy and nonstop as your wedding day when you have to make tons of spur-of-the-moment decisions. I truly can't say enough awesome things about Salt & Sonder. We received a few photos back so far, and they are just as I expected: beautiful, emotional, and tell a story. His photo journalistic approach is timeless and will never go out of style. We whole-heartedly recommend hiring JD for your wedding.

JD and his team were absolutely incredible. They told the story of our day so vividly and captured the greatest moments. His ability to capture the raw moments and amazing candies were flawless. We were ecstatic that the pictures weren’t filtered and we looked like ourselves and our natural complexions. He was worth every penny, and we’re more than satisfied with his incredible work.

We had such a wonderful experience working with JD and Salt & Sonder Studios! We are completely obsessed with both our engagement & wedding photos! JD's attention to detail is incredible and he was able to capture angles and photographs that are different than the traditional wedding photos and that is what we loved about him. Our absolutely favorite part was our sunset photoshoot at our wedding venue. It took less than 15 minutes out of the night and it was SO worth it. We were also appreciative by how accommodating JD was to the amount of pictures we wanted to have. We had many groups that we wanted to be photographed with and JD ensured that we got the shots that we wanted. He is extremely organized and helped to make this possible by having a meeting with us a few weeks before the wedding detailing his timeline and the types of pictures we wanted to include. Another component that we loved about JD and his services was how transparent he was. He was very honest about the length of time it would take to do certain shots and that helped us to make a decision as a couple on what mattered most to us. When it came time to make a decision he was extremely accommodating and kept reminding us that he was there for us and we could take as many or as little "formal" portraits as we wanted. This is a quality that we truly admired for our wedding day. An additional trait that we loved about JD and working with him is his creativity. What sets him apart from any other photographer is his attention to detail. When we received our photos, we loved how he was able to capture candid, and "true moments" of the day such as people laughing, hugging, dancing, talking, getting "teary eyed" etc. Those raw emotions that you feel on your wedding day can easily slip away with time, and JD was able to capture these moments that we now can look back on forever! These types of photos say so much more about your special day than the traditional "get together and pose" pictures. We had an absolute blast looking back at these photos, especially the dance floor pictures at our wedding reception. JD and his team completely captured the electric atmosphere! All in all JD is extremely flexible as he was able to capture both the traditional/formal as well as the candid moments of our wedding. We really loved how much he valued us as a couple and appreciated that he "checked in" on us throughout the day to ask how we were feeling. Very few vendors do that! He worked with us to make the vision for our photographs came to life. He is extremely talented and takes great pride in his work. This is shown by how immaculate our photos have turned out from the "getting ready" part of the day down to the very last song on the dance floor. He captured it all so that we can relive our dream day forever. We are so grateful that we have these memories captured and accessible to us thanks to JD and his team!

As advertised, JD and his crew were SENSATIONAL at our wedding in Cape May, NJ. Professional, always in the background but never out of touch, their photographers were cordial, kind, and very attentive to what the bride desired (which, as the groom, I can tell you was absolutely the right perspective). I highly recommend anyone and everyone who needs a photographer to consider this team!

Please take the time to read my review, I know it is long but I promise it’s got body behind these curves. Choosing a photographer for your wedding is not something you want to take lightly. Honestly, in some ways it’s kinda like getting married!- you’ve made your decision and have those photos for life now! Pretty stressful stuff! Enter JD.. from the first contact my(now) wife (whoahhhh) and I had with JD we felt super comfortable, not only are all of his previous works amazing, and the exact photo journalist/non posed/not sweet 16 style we were after; but his attitude, attentiveness, and overall demeanor definitely helped us make our choice to “marry” JD! Every detail was spoken about and worked through, every option was presented and explained, and every small mention we made was thought through and presented back to us next time we spoke with a completed “how about this” concept. The forms and questionnaires he had us fill out were easy to understand, easy to complete and very thorough in their content. Fast forward to wedding day, there I am... pacing back and forth in the groom suite, nervous with anticipation for what is to be the biggest day of my life so far. In walks JD, cooler than the other side of the pillow, he introduced me to Nelly, (his second shooter for the day) and they got to work. Blending into the background, just as promised “you won’t even know I’m there”. JD went over to the bridal suite, and Nelly stayed with us guys, she also was able to answer every question, every concern and knew the days schedule like the back of her hand! You could tell they were totally prepared and had gone over every detail before arriving. Their preparedness relaxed me and made me less stressed. Our first look was amazing, both because of my stunning wife and because JD handled the situation in a very calm manor, explaining to us how the look works, and once we got to “normal” photos was very explanatory with how we should pose to make the shots the most appealing. Making funny faces along the way to ease our nerves. Photos with the bridal party were efficient and easy, he could read the vibes of each group, giving us direction he knew we’d be comfortable with. At no point with JD did I feel awkward or like he was asking us to do a pose that wasn’t “us” At the ceremony, JD once again lived up to his “you won’t even know I’m there” promise, the man moves around like Michael Jackson, Michele Kwan and Mohammed Ali combined. Amazing stuff! He knew exactly who we wanted those posed classic shots with after we said our “I do’s” and we ran through those like lightning allowing us to get to our cocktail hour and be able to enjoy it! Thus keeping another key promise JD made to us “you will make it to your cocktail hour” The rest of the night, honesty was a total blur, someone, somewhere sped up time and hours turned to minutes and I can’t say that I remember actually seeing JD besides for photos we had specifically asked for with family and friends. Which is EXACTLY what we were looking for, a photo journalist style wedding photographer to capture our day organically, not forced. To capture true emotion, reaction, love and interactions between our guests and us. I will recommend JD to anyone who is looking for a wedding photographer. An amazing photographer, and amazing person and truly a pleasure to work with, and have capture our day in photos that we’ll look at for the rest of our lives.

We feel so grateful and so lucky that we were able to work with JD and Salt & Sonder Studio for our wedding this winter. JD was an extremely professional, creative, attentive, supportive, and just plain ol' fun photographer to work with from start to finish, and our final results were truly magical. His photos are real and intimate, capturing all the emotions of the day (the nerves, the celebration, the joy, and the love) with his trained photojournalistic eye. And after the day, JD was communicative and speedy with our final photos, delivering a beautiful gallery of images as well as a moving slideshow of the day for us to enjoy again and again! Planning a wedding during a pandemic is hard but planning two is pure insanity. Salt and Sonder was our first vendor decision back in 2018 when we first began planning our 2020 wedding. They were first hired by our friends and we were absolutely in awe of the moments they captured and the memories they were able to frame. We knew they had the talent but we didn't expect the over-communication, detailed inquiries required for personalized shots, and most of all, professional care and patience. All of which is impossible to come by in such an unreliable year. JD took the time to understand us so well that come day-of, when you're pulled in every direction, they knew where to be, who to communicate with, and how to maneuver around a 20+ person wedding party. JD and his assistant, Tom's calmness was infectious, which put us at ease and I'm sure, captured a perfect cycle of emotions as the day went on. When 2020 gave us every excuse to lower our expectations, Salt and Sonder was sure to keep raising the bar.

JD is an amazing photographer and human! My husband and I fell in love with his work the moment we saw it and fell in love with him the moment we met him! JD is patient, kind, calm, professional, diligent and hard working. He cares about his work and the couples that he is working with and he goes above and beyond to meet your needs throughout the entire planning process. He is excellent at communication and never left us waiting. He answered all of our questions throughout the 2 year planning process and was always willing to give us honest advice on any questions that we had. I have a lot of anxiety and I wanted everything to be perfect. JD was such a calming presence throughout our entire planning process and on our wedding day. We trusted him 100%. We felt like we knew him for years so we were completely comfortable with him being there for every important moment of our wedding day. JD worked with us ahead of time to get an idea of the most important aspects of the day so he could be sure to capture all of our most important moments. He is a true photojournalist so he does an excellent job at capturing all of the amazing moments happening throughout your day to tell your story rather than wasting time staging pointless photos of inanimate objects. He worked well with our videographer and all of our other vendors. Once things were rolling, we barely noticed him throughout the ceremony and reception...which is his goal. He lives for candid shots but will do all of the portraits that you want. He did a great job keeping our portraits moving in the church so we could waste as little time as possible. Our couples portraits in the city are breathtaking. He put together a highlight video that brought me to tears the first 20 times I watched it. I've shared it with people that weren't at our wedding and they said they felt like they were there...which is another goal of his...to tell your story from beginning to end so those that missed it will feel like they were there and you can relive your day forever and ever. JD knew how important the famous City Hall shot was to my husband and I and he captured the most epic City Hall shot we've ever seen! It is the perfect representation of us and I will cherish it for the rest of my life. We will cherish all of the photos for the rest of our lives. I could go on for another 20 chapters about how much we appreciate JD. He is kind, genuine, professional and beyond talented. His work is high quality and he will always make you feel like you are his number one priority. You only get married once and your photographer is one of the most important vendors you will book because they will preserve all of your memories so you can relive your wedding day for the rest of your life. JD was an amazing wedding photographer and an overall cool guy. I would recommend him to anyone looking for beautiful photojournalistic wedding photos. At every stage of the process, JD was professional, organized and thoughtful, making sure to understand what we wanted for our wedding and helping us plan a schedule for all the photos for the big day.

 On the day of our wedding, JD was respectful of our time (especially since the day few by so quickly). Aside from the traditional shots of the ceremony and wedding parties, he captured so many candid moments of us and our guests without us even noticing. We had a lot of fun looking through photos of our guests and seeing moments of our guests enjoying themselves at the wedding.

 The photos themselves were beautiful and the album he created for us will surely be a family heirloom. I highly recommend that every couple get one. JD went through several iterations of the layout. He made sure that we were happy with every single page. He designed the album like a story book, telling the story of our wedding. Having just celebrated our first anniversary, we were so delighted to thumb through this memento and remember the day.

JD and Tom were fantastic. When JD arrived at my house the morning of the wedding he just blended into the room as if he knew us all for years, it was nice how comfortable he was in his role. He also chimed in at the perfect times with advice and help, like warning us that the flowers would be wet, so to be prepared with paper towels before taking out of the box, or helping us put the boutineers on the men. I didn't care much for portrait photos but our parents did. He did a great job accommodating us both. Our day was colder than planned, he was able to get photos of our bridal party outside, in city hall, as fast as possible, while also getting all the necessary photos. JD and Tom were so easy to talk to and have our photos taken by them. My husband and I can be a little awkward in front of the camera but the guys did a great job putting us at ease, even with the below 40 degree weather. JD stayed in communication with our Videographer, who was late to the photoshoot, but it was so nice that JD covered this communication so I didn't have to nor did I have to appoint anyone in my bridal party to handle. They captured over 1000 photos for us (after we requested they stay an extra hour, which was well worth the additional money). Tom was a great addition to the event. Many of our guests commented to us how much they loved Tom. JD had our photos to review in 2 months, which was much quicker than a lot of people I know had to wait. The pictures were gorgeous. He walked us through the entire process to pick out photos for our albums. Gave us pointers, advice, and direction to ensure we get the album to really tell our story. We are very grateful for all of our vendors, but photos were a top priority for me and we are so please that we went with Salt & Sonder. We cannot wait to get our albums back. Thank you JD and Tom.

JD is talented, professional, thorough and cool to be around. He took time to get to know us as a couple and he went through our day of timeline a few weeks before our wedding. I chose him after seeing awesome shots he did of a wedding at the venue we chose. After looking at those photos, I noticed he was my friend’s wedding photographer and I loved her photos. I would recommend JD to anyone that wants a relaxed and comfortable wedding day! He has a great eye for cool shots and he is not intrusive at all! JD is an outstanding photographer and worth every penny. Receiving our photos and then our album later in the mail allowed us to re-live our wedding day in such a special way, because JD captured all kinds of special, beautiful, funny, and touching moments that didn’t sink in at the time. JD promised us we wouldn’t notice he was there and it was absolutely true - aside from formal shots, we truly forgot we were being photographed. That led to stunning photos of private moments between myself and my husband (with permission given in advance to shoot anything and everything) that look like they belong in an art gallery, as well as amazing candid shots which truly captured people’s raw emotion. The photos are breathtaking. JD’s photos are more artistic and creative than most wedding photographers by a long shot. JD is also really easy to work with and attentive, making sure to cover all the important people and details you want. I would highly recommend JD for your wedding, we are so happy we used him!

When it was time for posed family photos, JD was able to effectively corral family members in a friendly and efficient manner so that we could get back to celebrating as soon as possible. One of the most important things to me for my wedding was the photographer and after doing so much searching I stumbled upon JD at Salt and Sonder, literally the best find ever!!! I cannot even begin to put together a review for how amazing our photographer, JD, was. We were looking for someone who truly was a documentary/photojournalistic style photographer. We wanted real moments captured, not posed photos that look unnatural later. And this is exactly what we got. Our photos are incredible. They provide a true look at the nervousness, the joy, the tears, the laughs and everything in between. I am able to relive every moment of our day looking at our photos. And amazingly, JD was totally unobtrusive the entire day. He caught some of the most amazing moments and I don't know where he was when he captured them. He is truly talented and has an eye for a shot that I've never seen in wedding photography. I can’t say enough amazing things about JD and his work. I didn’t even look at any other photographers because I knew the moment I saw JD’s work he was the person I wanted to capture my day. JD was, by far, our favorite vendor (and person) to work with before, during, and after the wedding. We researched all of our vendors extensively, and we were so impressed by the richness of JD's photos. After talking to him on the phone, we knew we wanted to book him immediately because of how easygoing, good-natured, and professional he was in talking us through our options and giving us a preview of what working with him throughout the wedding process would be like. JD was integral in helping to craft our pre-wedding timeline, and he did a fantastic job suggesting ideal spots for our first look and bridal party photos, as well. At the wedding itself, JD was so relaxed in the bridal suite, allowing my bridesmaids and me to have a fun morning while still capturing all of the important shots. During the ceremony and reception, it was like JD wasn't even there - in a good way. Unlike most weddings we've been to, where it is impossible to look in any direction without seeing a giant tripod and an intrusive photographer, JD documented the night as it happened. While we of course have our fair share of formal photos and group shots, we also have unbelievable candids that truly capture how much fun we and our guests were having. JD did not miss a trick, and we were so thrilled that all of the most vivid moments that were in our heads after the wedding were also captured by JD's camera. Maybe most importantly, several of our guests told us that they didn't feel the need to take out their phones to take selfies because JD always seemed to be in the perfect spot to get the shot. Post-wedding, JD sent us our photos very quickly and helped put together an amazing album that we are very proud to show off to family and friends. We would not hesitate to recommend JD. He is a phenomenal photographer and was a great presence to have on hand the day of the wedding.

We are very happy that we selected JD as our wedding photographer and would highly recommend working with him. Like many couples I've spoken with, my now husband and I decided to prioritize the photography in our wedding budget. By all accounts, the wedding day was expected to be "a blur", and we wanted to be able to look back over our wedding photos and relive the day and maybe discover some moments we missed ourselves! JD of Salt and Sonder Studio (previously Two15 Photography) specializes in photojournalism and is an expert in candid photography. Unlike other self-proclaimed photojournalists, JD actively frames and composes shots as they are happening without interrupting the action. I believe he's developed this exceptional skill from his time taking wildlife photography (where you can't exactly walk up to the grizzly bear and politely ask it to shift a foot or two to the right). Even though the photos are candid (and we’ve all seen some pretty unflattering candid photos of ourselves), I’m amazed with how handsome/beautiful everyone looks in our photos. And to be completely honest, I don't remember even seeing JD during the wedding - you will not be interrupted so that you can live your perfect day. But rest assured – you will look natural and beautiful! JD’s wedding photos are not only beautiful, but they emote – they make you FEEL. JD really takes his time to get to know you and your wedding party and even your guest list, all in the pursuit of “hunting” down the most special moments on your day. By understanding the special relationships that make up your wedding day, JD is able to prioritize which moments to look out for and capture. So BE HONEST with JD and really think about who are the important guests at your wedding – he will genuinely take it to heart in constructing the story of your day! Keep in mind that JD is masterful at photojournalism and absolutely favors this style. I am thoroughly pleased with all of the portrait photos from our wedding, but there isn’t a lot of variety because we breezed through the formal portraits. If I’m being completely honest, I think I would’ve liked a little more time to try different poses during this session BUT this is NOT JD’s fault! JD stuck to the schedule we discussed and agreed upon. Again, JD is flexible, accessible, and exceptionally talented, so be honest, communicate, and embrace his approach - I promise you’ll end up with the most beautiful visual retelling of your wedding day.

JD was incredible. I've looked at our wedding photos about a thousand times since we received them, and I love every one of them. Before the wedding day, JD scheduled a talk with me and my husband to talk about what mattered to us, and I thought that was so thoughtful and helpful to really articulate what we wanted to see in the photos. He also scheduled phone calls with our parents to see what they valued as well. My husband and I were drawn to JD because of his photojournalism style. We did not want uncomfortable, awkward, posed shots - we wanted someone who would follow us around the day and capture real moments. JD's attention to detail was incredible, and the way he frames photos is unique and just exquisite. He and Tom (the second photographer for the day) were so great on the day of. JD was organized and clear with the few directions he gave for the family portraits. Beyond that, he was a fly on the wall and completely unobtrusive. We also never felt insecure because his camera has no shutter sound, so you can't hear the camera clicking away. We loved that he captured all the transitions of the day, so you could really relive the entire experience while looking at the photos. It was also so fun going to JD's studio to drink champagne and laugh and cry while watching his slideshow and then going through each photo. We ended up buying one of his albums - it was too irresistible to pass on, and I liked that some of the proceeds go to environmental causes. 10/10 would recommend - can't say enough good things about JD.

JD was an absolute pleasure to work with from the very first time we contacted him through receiving our wedding album. When we met JD during our engagement shoot, we knew then and there that he was the perfect photographer for us. My husband and I are not pose-y people and in scrolling through the insane amount of options for photographers I kept getting frustrated because I couldn't imagine posing like that and having it actually look like a real or good picture. JD's magic is that he captures the DAY and all of the emotion and wonderful moments that you actually want to remember. He was amazing to work with, and really took the time to get to know the two of us and what we wanted out of the day. I hardly even realized he was there on our actual wedding day because he was so unobtrusive, too. My now-husband and I fell in love with JD's work when we were looking for a wedding photographer. We wanted photos that were unique, modern and interesting, not the usual boring, cheesy wedding photos. So when we browsed JD's gallery online, we immediately knew he was exactly what we were looking for. He's not just a "wedding photographer" - he's an artist. But it wasn't until we Skyped with him the first time that we realized not only is he incredibly talented, he's also super genuine, sweet, and easygoing. Our wedding was at the Franklin Institute in Philly, and they let you take photos in the exhibits. On his own time, JD went and scouted it out ahead of time to find the best spots for photos. They had a mirror maze, and he had a friend stand in for us in order to test potential shots. That really went above and beyond. So on our wedding day, he already had tons of amazing ideas. (The mirror maze made for an unbelievably cool photo.) He and his second shooter, Jen, were so calm and on top of things on the wedding day that it made everything easy and really fun. We took some formal portraits with the parents, siblings and wedding party - which came out gorgeous - but mostly we wanted quirky, interesting posed shots and documentary-style candids, which is really their specialty. Our ceremony was in a very dark planetarium, which is incredibly difficult to photograph (I've seen it done badly a lot). JD went there ahead of time, too, to check lighting and make sure he had everything set perfectly, and those photos came out *stunning*. I've honestly never seen anything like them - unreal. Throughout cocktails and the reception, JD and Jen were totally inconspicuous, but managed to capture the feel of the entire night. Now my husband and I look at our photos every single day. They are beyond beautiful - perfect memories. When the wedding is over, the photos are all you have left (besides, you know, the marriage), so I think it's so important to choose a great photographer. If you're looking for photos that go beyond the traditional, that really capture your spirit as a couple, and are themselves works of art, JD and Two15 will be the best decision you make!
