edding call, Jeff told us he had double-booked himself on our date and said he would be going to whichever wedding had more guests. We were shocked, as we had booked him well in advance and paid a $500 holding deposit. We immediately called him back and asked him directly if he was coming to our wedding. He told us, “No, I'm not coming to your wedding. I'm going to the other wedding because of the bride and groom canvas.” The canvas was roughly twice the price of what we had booked. This is what was especially upsetting to us. Jeff knew the real reason he was choosing the other wedding, but on the first call he presented it as though the decision was based on guest count. Only after we called back and pressed him did he tell us he was choosing the other wedding because it paid him more. In our opinion, that was deliberately misleading and an incredibly poor way to handle a confirmed booking. He offered to send people who work for him instead, saying they were trained by him and had his art style. However, he would not provide their Instagram pages, give us a meaningful way to review their work, or allow us to speak with them directly. Being asked to trust someone we had never met just seven weeks before our wedding was not something we were comfortable with. To Jeff's credit, he refunded our $500 deposit. We appreciate that, but returning the deposit does not change what happened. The issue isn't whether Jeff's artwork is good—it is. The issue is reliability and how he treats his commitments to clients. We booked him, paid a deposit, and believed our wedding date was secured. He then double-booked himself and chose the other wedding because it was more profitable, leaving us scrambling seven weeks before our wedding. We have since come across other people on social media describing similar experiences, which made us even more concerned that this may not have been an isolated situation. For an important event like a wedding, you need to be able to trust that your vendor will honor the commitment they made. Based on our experience, we would not recommend booking Jeff and hope other couples are aware of this before trusting him with their wedding day.
