Jen was absolutely amazing, and her second shooter for our wedding, Kelly, was stellar too. Having phenomenal photographs from the wedding came about 3rd on the list of things we wanted for the whole event, right behind 1) getting married, and 2) actually enjoying the thing. Jen and Kelly nailed it and totally helped us achieve all three of those things! Three big highlights on why we would hire Jen a thousand times over: 1.My husband and I do not enjoy being the center of attention, and we’re kind of shy when it comes to PDA, so you can imagine that we were nervous that we’d be just plain old uncomfortable during our whole wedding, and especially for the photos. (We were also planning the wedding from afar, and didn’t have an opportunity to do an engagement shoot, so we didn’t have any practice before the big day!) Jen and Kelly were fun, relaxed, and light-hearted the whole night. They are best friends, so they have an awesome dynamic between them. We wanted to be best friends with them too by the end of the night! They completely put us at ease the whole time. 2.We are also not huge planners, and I really didn’t have any big ‘vision’ for the wedding or the photos. So we didn’t really give Jen a lot to work on besides “we love the desert, and we want great photos with cacti and our dog.” Jen took that tiny amount of direction and completely delivered with the photos. We ended up with the one rainy day in spring in the desert, for our outdoor wedding, with no indoor backup plan… Our mental image of having stunning sunset photos was out the window! But our photos were everything we wanted and more. We have stunning portraits next to gigantic golden barrel cacti, close-ups of intricate succulents, a funny first-look with our dog hiding around the corner, and sweet shots of our parents dancing under strung lights in the mesquite tree. The photos are so perfect. 3.I can’t stress enough how savvy Jen and Kelly were about dealing with the potential for family members to interject during the wedding photos. Everyone has a grandparent, uncle, somebody who will try to get the photos they want regardless of whatever plan or angle you are going for in your pictures. Jen and Kelly were totally cool about this, being firm when necessary but still completely positive/casual/light-hearted, and making sure they were getting the photos they needed to get without other guests in the way. On top of everything else, Jen took the time to meet with us when we were in town for the holidays (months after we had already booked the date) so that we could meet in person and chat. And she delivered the completed photos to us in half the time that was in the contract (we got the full set of photos in a month, and saw some teasers on Instagram before that). Jen Bee Photography was the first vendor we booked after nailing down a wedding date with our venue. I’m SO GLAD that Jen and Kelly were our photographers.
