Jes & Jakob

We are Jes Raymond and Jakob Breitbach. (formerly Jes Raymond & The Blackberry Bushes- same band- new name!) We’re an acoustic duo. We have distilled 10 years of full time international touring into a sound that is part festival and part mountain top. We are both multi-instrumentalists; We put together skillful flatpicking, clawhammer banjo, virtuosic fiddle, upright bass, time polished harmonies and award winning songwriting with elements of bluegrass, old-time, jazz and pop. We are troubadours. We are joymakers. Performing as a duet, or backed by a rotating cast of talented believers, we draw from the deep well of American Roots music, and we aim to stir the spirit. We will bring art, soul, warmth, and elegance to your meaningful day. Our aim will be to make your guests feel your love for them, feel close to each other, and feel inspired by the spirit of your celebration. We have a wide spectrum of sounds and moods that we can shape, from delicate and graceful to polished and sophisticated to- well- all out rowdy good time fun. We are a perfect fit for outdoor, barn, rustic chic, bohemian, and festival style weddings. We can provide ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception music. We are not a "cover band" though we will most certainly play some covers that your guests will know, as well as a handful of special requests in our style. We LOVE creating guest participation moments such as square dancing and sing alongs to break the ice and help guests really open up to each other. We perform as a duet, trio, or full string band. We can take guests all the way from arrival to dance party, or fill one specific chapter of the day such as ceremony or cocktail hour. We are easy and compelling in small intimate settings or as part of a large production. In these uncertain times, it is even more important to cultivate joy. We will make sure your event does that in a powerful way for your family, friends and community.
