We love Jesse!!! He is so great to work with, makes you feel like an old friend is photographing you. He knows how to make you feel comfortable and how to capture the love and joy you’re feeling, without being posed. All of my friends have used him on my recommendation, because they love him and his work so much. He was amazing to work with throughout the postponement of our wedding, and helped make the day perfect when in finally came. You won’t find a better photographer for your big day than Jesse!

Jesse is amazing! Wedding planning during the pandemic was both exhausting and uncertain; however, one thing we were absolutely certain of was having Jesse capture our Big Day. I found Jesse through a close friend and I was instantly obsessed with his work for her wedding. I could go on and on about how wonderful he truly is, but I think it's important to point out some of his best qualities. Aside from his AMAZING work, Jesse is prompt in responding, organized, flexible, and super friendly. He helped in making our day flow effortlessly and captured everything I asked for AND more. Jesse was absolutely wonderful to work with. I was one of the unfortunate brides getting married in the pandemic and our plans changed like 5 times. I've been following Jesse's work for years now, ever since I saw the pictures he photographed for a friend's wedding. When it was time to research photographers for my wedding, my husband and I knew within minutes of meeting with Jesse that he was the only person we'd trust to capture the moments from our day. When I reflect on our wedding day, I don't feel like I spent hours posing for photos. Instead, I feel like I had the opportunity to spend quality time with my loved ones--laughing, talking, and crying together--and I received beautiful photos capturing those memories. We received over 750 photos from our wedding. When my husband and I sat down to look through them together, I was speechless. The raw emotion captured in Jesse and Nick's photos are beautiful--exactly the moments that we want to hang on our walls for the rest of our lives. Finally, I'll note that our wedding plans changed significantly because of the pandemic this year. We ultimately had to change the location of our reception so it could be held outdoors. Although the venue change came with a much longer commute for Jesse, he was so flexible and told us not to worry about it. I can't begin to articulate how much his empathy and flexibility meant to us as plans changed due to circumstances outside of our control. I will forever recommend Jesse Speelman Photography to anyone looking for the best wedding photographer in Michigan. His photos are a work of art and love that you will cherish for a lifetime.

Jesse and Nick were AMAZING. The photography was one of the most important things for our intimate wedding and it turned out to be exactly what we wanted. Jesse’s photos captured our day and all the emotions that went along with the day perfectly. He gave us just the right amount of pictures to not make us feel overwhelmed but plenty to help us relive every aspect of the day. The editing. The natural feel. I've known Jesse as a photographer for years and years and he has never seized to impress me. As soon as my fiance and I were engaged, I had Jesse in mind as our wedding photographer. He was already a good friend, but from day 1 he was so professional and really made the two of us feel so comfortable in taking this next step with each other. With neither of us being married before, we were a little intimidated in choosing a photographer for such an important occasion but Jesse was so helpful in providing detailed information and comfort in helping us discover what we wanted. We sat down with Jesse in the beginning to plan the perfect wedding package that we desired and we could not be happier. Every single photo we have seen from our special day was absolutely amazing and we are so blessed to have these photos for the rest of our lives.

Jesse did just this! I found Jesse on Instagram and fell in love with all of his photos. The emotion and life he captures in his photos is just brilliant and beautiful. It was less staged photos and more fun and engaging photos. He was so much fun to work with and builds great rapport with his couples. He was a great fit for us. His passion and talent truly shows in all of his photos. He quickly posted a sneak peak of our wedding and also got all of our photos back quickly as well! We love looking through them all. I've known Jesse for many years and he's always had great promise as a photographer, but we were blown away by how amazing he photographed our whole wedding. He captured moments that we never expected and he did an amazing job working with us. My grandmother was in an American House and was not healthy enough to come to the wedding, but he was so flexible in meeting us there before the wedding to take family pictures with her. We hadn't seen her that happy in over a year, and Jesse managed to capture all of those moments and make the unconventional backdrops beautiful and warm. We appreciated everything he did and would recommend him to anyone.

Jesse was so wonderful to work with from the moment I met him! It didn’t take me long to decide that I wanted him to be the one to shoot our wedding. He was laid back, hilarious, and captured our day beautifully. He was really unobtrusive which was important to my husband and I. To top it off, I threw him a curveball and had poison ivy all up and down my arms the day of my wedding, and you can’t even tell the photos - he did a great job touching them up. He got everything to me on time which was greatly appreciated. We were so glad to have him with us!

We loved working with Jesse! Jesse did both our engagement and wedding photos, and the pictures were absolutely stunning. Jesse will impress you from your first meeting, to the day you excitedly get to look at the beautiful pictures he crafts for you. Having been a part of other friends weddings with him as their photographer, my wife and I agreed that he was our first priority in regards to vendors. He is very helpful with laying out a detailed game plan for an already busy day. We got many compliments from our guests how attentive he was in helping our family while trying to arrange for our specified pictures. When the day came that we got our album from him, it was so much fun viewing them together to relive our day over again. I cannot say enough positive things about Jesse. I found his photography profile on the Knot and instantly fell in love with his natural photography style. During our first phone call Jesse answered all of our questions honestly and professionally. Upon hiring Jesse he never left any of our questions unanswered and was always prompt to respond to our emails. He has an extremely calming presence and is one of those people who can make you feel as if you have known each other your whole life even after one meeting. On the day of our wedding he was there early and began capturing us getting ready right away. He was able to capture so many beautiful and natural photos and none of them look over-posed at all. We had way too much fun with him all day and he honestly is just so chill while also being extremely professional. He was willing to capture any photo that we wanted but he really came up with most of the ideas for our photos. I had multiple people approach me at the wedding to compliment on his personality and our wedding party and family absolutely adored him. His second shooter is also a great guy and my Husband and his groomsmen loved working with him as well. They both work great together and not one moment of our day was missed. I truly loved having them both so we could get multiple views of our ceremony and other events throughout the night. I cannot say enough good things about jesse! I was lucky enough to have worked with Jesse twice prior to my own engagement. Those experiences were so great that I knew I wanted him for my own wedding. Not only are his pictures amazing but he makes sure to capture every aspect of the day and makes you feel at ease and worry free. He took my engagement photos at an apple orchard my fiancé and I suggested. He made the hour long drive and we had such a fun time. He also met with us prior to that to go over his packages and prices. He made us feel Comfortable with our decision and we knew that we would be getting the best photographer possible. The day comes and Jesse plus his other photographer were punctual and ready to start. I think the one thing that makes Jesse better than the rest is his ability to capture candid photographs. I love all my photos but there is something so natural and effortless about the pictures when they weren’t posed. We picked out a lot of pictures to frame but my 2 favorites were candid and I truly think this is why Jesse is so amazing. I wouldn’t have trusted anyone else and these pictures will let me relive the magic of the day whenever I want! If you are trying to choose a photographer for your wedding or special event, you won’t find anyone better!

Jesse was such an amazing photographer for our wedding! Early on in the wedding planning process, I struggled because I really wanted to invest in a good photographer, but was also overwhelmed by how expensive photography can be! Jesse was highly recommended by a couple people and he was phenomenal. Anytime we needed to communicate with him in the months leading up to the wedding he always patiently and immediately got back to us. On the day of the wedding we were impressed by how friendly, personal, and professional he was. I didn't realize until the wedding how much time you actually spend with your photographer-someone you don't even know! Jesse's kind personality made us feel much more at ease and made our day that much more enjoyable. We received numerous compliments from our wedding party, parents, and guests on positive interactions they had with him. We only got back some teaser photos so far, but they were incredible and I can't wait to see the rest! I was also impressed that he already sent us a sneak peek of photos the day after the wedding! 10/10 recommendation.

Jesse was by far the best choice we made for our wedding! Jesse went above and beyond. My husband stumbled upon Jesse after we had trouble deciding on a photographer and I couldn’t of been happier he did! Jesse made the whole process so easy and smooth from the time we booked him to our wedding day. He had all of our photos ready for us to see within a month. We have had so many people reach out to us after our wedding to ask who our photographer was because they loved his photos. His style was so unique and beautiful. Choosing Jesse as our photographer was by far the best decision I made for my wedding. I chose him after seeing beautiful photos from a couple of friends weddings and engagement photos. Jesse from the start was very easy to communicate with and made sure he had everything he needed from us ahead of time. We got a sneak peak of about 40 photos the day after our wedding and then all nearly 700 photos about 5 weeks after out wedding. They turned out wonderfully! They even took the time to do any photos our guests asked for (various family photos) while we were busy. Many of our favorite photos were action shots that are priceless. Overall Jesse and his assistant were phenomenal and we highly recommend him!

Jesse was seriously one of the best vendors we worked with for our wedding day. There are a few things that make him stand out as a photographer - 1. The pictures are AMAZING. Seriously we get complimented most on our photos and photographer. 2. He managed to take these amazing photos without disrupting the flow of the day once. At other weddings I've attended I've noticed the photographer pausing the couple to pose for photos. We weren't asked to stop and force a pose once and I'm so glad about it. We were able to really live in the moment on our day. 3. He is super nice and very professional. I felt like he really cared about me and my husband and our families. There were a few moments taking photos that were difficult, and he handled everything with such professionalism. I can't recommend him enough.

If I could give Jesse a hundred stars, I would. To start off, it was nearly 100 degrees the day of our wedding and I have a huge (and very loud) family. Jesse embraced all these challenges as well as making everyone feel at ease. I had so many friends and family members tell me how amazing and friendly he was. My husband was very apprehensive about all the picture taking, and even he felt at ease and extremely comfortable with Jesse. I was looking for a very candid type of photography and Jesse captured everything perfectly. We already ordered prints and received our album and they turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Everyone loved all the photos and we have been recommending him to everyone. In the midst of the chaos of the day, Jesse was truly a calming presence. I can't say enough how much we enjoyed having him as our photographer!

I can't even put into words how amazing Jesse was as our photographer! Jesse did an amazing job shooting our wedding. We hadn't met him before the wedding day and he made everyone feel so comfortable. He knew my bridesmaids names within 10 minutes! Working with Jesse as our wedding photographer was nothing short of an absolute joy! When my husband and I got engaged in January of 2017 the ONE thing I knew I had to do other than marry Aaron was I had to book Jesse, and FAST! I had met him numerous times at weddings I worked as a makeup artist at, and knew he was the only photographer that could capture our special day. I cannot thank Jesse enough for the beautiful photos that he took of one of the best days of my life. The photos that Jesse took truly captured the spirit of our day and the personality of my closest family and friends. Jesse is a photo master! He did our wedding pictures and they turned out very beautiful! Very nice guy and very easy to work with. My husband and I met Jesse when he photographed a wedding for our friends in 2016. He met us on the fourth of July to take our engagement photos, and captured our beautiful wedding day in July of 2017. Jesse captured every public and intimate moment of our wedding, and was the person who I spent the most time with on that day. He coordinated our first look and was my advocate, when I wanted to take a moment alone with my husband. Jesse ensured that all of the important people in my life were photographed with me, even graciously hunting down my dad when I realized I had been too rushed that morning for a picture. My husband and I were so euphoric on that day that when we look back at our wedding, we remember how we were too happy to eat. Honestly, he was my favorite vendor of our wedding. He got to know who we were as a couple and made us feel comfortable. I couldn't be more thrilled that we ended up with him. Please, please please book him!

When we got engaged, we agreed that there were two things we wouldn't skimp on: the photographer and the DJ. We probably put the most time, effort, and thought into picking our photographer. When we met with Jesse, we left that initial meeting knowing that we would go with him. Even better, his prices were very reasonable and the samples of his work he showed us spoke for themselves. When we did our engagement shoot, he made us feel comfortable and we had way more fun than we expected. Both our engagement and wedding pictures came back quickly and GORGEOUS. We could not be more happy with our choice and continue to order prints from his site. You will not be disappointed!!!

We chose Jesse because his work spoke for itself, his pictures are not fake and he takes advantage of the natural setting. We had a very good experience working with him. Months before, he provided lots of helpful tips (for the wedding itself) that you would never think of, which was much appreciated. He also asked us for a list of pictures that we wanted taken and made sure that we had them all done in a timely fashion shortly after the ceremony. He also did a great job of facilitating throughout the day and making sure that we stuck to our schedule. When things got stressful he did a tremendous job of calming us down. His second photographer Nick was also great. As far as the quality of his pictures, we were very pleased. He was able to capture some amazing moments that we will never forget because of his hard work. Finally he also had them back to us in just under 3 weeks. Highly recommended.

When my husband and I first got engaged, we both agreed that the most important thing when it came to our wedding was the photographer. A wedding day only happens once and having something tangible to reflect on when we looked back on that day was of the utmost importance when it came to our wedding. I looked and looked at countless photographers online. We searched through friends’ old wedding photos; I went on every site I could find for local wedding photographers, but it wasn’t until we came across Jesse Speelman Photography that we felt a real connection. What stood out to me among the masses of options out there was that his photography truly captured the narrative arc of peoples’ wedding day. He told the story of a couples wedding and his photographs preserved a feeling. Sure, Jesse’s work captured a lot of the same moments that other photographers did –the dress before putting it on, the bride and groom’s reactions to walking down the aisle, etc. Yet, each of his wedding albums we scrolled through felt different and unique when we looked through them. They each told the specific story of those couples and families. That is what we wanted, for someone to tell our story and preserve it beautifully and skillfully. I was a little nervous about being photographed; I was afraid it would feel too posed, awkward, or forced. What would it be like to kiss my fiancé in front of a total stranger? How would that come across on camera? I am so happy that we chose to also do an engagement shoot with Jesse. It gave us a chance to get to know him and his style a little bit better. He also got the opportunity to meet and know us as a couple. He made us feel so at ease (which is something I had always read in reviews and felt was not genuine or cheesy – but hey, here, it was totally true.) He brought out the best in us. He was the perfect balance of professional and personable, kind, and easy going. Our wedding day was no different. Our family members and wedding party continually commented on how natural and genuine our time with Jesse and his assistant was. I couldn’t agree more. I believe in hindsight this is what led to beautiful moments being captured on our big day. I have never written a review before, but felt it was imperative to write one here, as I was once that bride scrolling through endless reviews and completely overwhelmed in the process. I could not recommend Jesse Speelman more. I trusted him to capture our day and I trust him to capture yours in a way that when you look back on those photos for years to come, you feel that your story was preserved. You look at the photos and feel the way you did on that day, in each of those precious moments.

Jesse is a wonderful wedding photographer! You can see for yourself that his pictures are beautiful. But he is also great at the stuff you can't see. He is professional, communicative, prompt in his replies, and very organized. He offered us a lot of advice for how to create the best pictures possible. He's also very flexible - we ended up changing our wedding venue from Michigan to Vermont and he was happy to travel with us, and for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!!

And now having booked him, I can totally see why. In addition to having BEAUTIFUL work, which you can easily see from his portfolio/blog, Jesse was prompt and thorough when it came to discussing our contract, and gave helpful tips throughout the planning process. By the time we met him up for our engagement shoot, my fiance and I had some high expectations -- and he didn't disappoint! Jesse was so easygoing, had a great eye for color and framing, and not once made it feel staged or awkward. It genuinely felt like hanging with a friend who just happens to be super talented and knows a ton about weddings. We got our fully edited photos within just a few days, and the prints from his shop within a week of our shoot. It was definitely a great way to get familiar with his style of work -- we're so excited to work with him on our wedding day! Anyone with a good eye and decent camera can be a photographer...but Jesse combines his incredible talent, professionalism, and a warm personality into an unforgettable vendor!

I (the groom) never like my pictures. I never like sitting in front of photographers. Our wedding was in the winter while most photographers show off their summer shoots. I spent more time then I care to admit looking for a photographer comfortable in a not-very-photogenic setting. We found Jesse and we were blown away by his ideas and professionalism. He made our shoots comfortable and fun. Our engagement photos were so good we were sometimes nervous sharing them with our other soon-to-be-married friends who had already picked their photographers. Our wedding pictures were phenomenal. The albums (engagement, wedding, and sister) were beautifully done and reflect the time and effort he put into his work. Jesse is amazing! His photographs are perfect, his personality makes him fun and easy to work with, he is reasonably priced and he contributed to making our day picture-perfect! Jesse was our absolute favorite vendor to work with. From the very first communication with him he's been nothing but professional while staying very approachable. Our entire bridal party and all of our parents loved him, he was able to direct everyone and make sure the day went absolutely perfect. His pricing is also really affordable for the beautiful work that he does. Our pictures came out absolutely stunning, he really captured the day in it's entirety, I love looking through them and reliving it all. We got an engagement album and wedding album too and they are absolutely gorgeous! His wife makes the album sleeves and it's such a sweet personal touch. Brides, save yourself the hassle and book him before he fills up, it's the best wedding decision you'll make!

Jesse is the best. From your first meeting he feels like your friend. My husband can be an introvert. But Jesse made him feel comfortable from the beginning. I feel in love with his pictures and style. And my husband was looking for budget, and Jesse made us both happy with what I wanted and within our budget. Our engagement shoot was awesome. And of course the wedding day was no different. We had a large bridal party and we have a large family, but that did not matter to him. He kept it professional and on track. Both, my engagement and wedding albums are beautiful and communicating with him is seamless. He replies darn near instantly. Definitely the best. Book him. You won't regret it!!!
