My experience at JLM Boutique was nothing short of magical. Let's start at the beginning. I got engaged last June (2018) and after some initial planning, we decided on a Spring 2019 (April) wedding, so that meant, time to start the dress search... asap! I found a few different wedding dress boutiques, but JLM ended being the only one I visited. I just had a feeling this was going to be the right one for me, based on the designers they carried and the small boutique feel. I made an appointment to visit during one of their trunk shows in July of last year, and before visiting, had perused the images of dresses from various designers that they showed on the website.
I have had a vision of what I felt my wedding dress would be like for some time now, and one of the ones shown online seemed to be exactly it (mind you, I hadn't even visited JLM yet!) but I decided to be open minded for my appointment. They have parking spots right out front, and typically ample street parking. My Mom and I arrived and I was paired with Molly (who is so fabulous and helpful) and I tried on about 8 gowns that I picked from the floor. They were all gorgeous, but I kept thinking about the dress I saw online which was Tara Keely by Lazaro. I inquired about it with Molly and since they didn't have it in stock, she said to let her see what she could do, and she might be able to get it flown in from New York for me to try on. A few weeks later I was notified she was able to secure the dress (YES!!) and we settled on a second time to come back to try it on, knowing if I didn't like it, I could choose something else in the showroom at that point. For this second appointment, in August, I brought my Mom back, along with my Nonna and a few of my bridesmaids, as I just had a gut feeling this would be it. Molly and the whole JLM team once again made us feel so welcome and taken care of, and she ushered me back into the fitting room and there it was hanging there. The moment I put it on, I knew this was it. I couldn't thank Molly enough for making it possible for me to try it on, because it couldn't have been closer to what I had imagined in my head! I ended up purchasing it on the spot, and began the process of getting it created in my size. This was in August, and by early January I was notified it was on the way.
At this point, they move you over to their off-site alteration studio (just down the street) where Gloria (the alteration queen) and Monica took such incredible care of us. I had 3 alteration appointments (an initial consultation, a mid-way fitting and the final pickup appointment). Gloria was so comforting, and made me feel like I was in the best hands possible since my gown was so delicate. Monica was so helpful and we always had such great conversation while I was there. The entire process from start to finish was truly seamless. I appreciated the high level of customer service, but the fact that everyone just felt like a good friend helping you out was what I really loved. It is truly worth every penny of what I paid for both the gown and alterations, as you never get this special day back, and I didn't want to skimp on such an important piece. I will be recommending JLM to all of my friends who get married in coming years, and recommend them to anyone reading this review!
