very happy with our engagement and wedding photos. Joanna and Johnny did a good job of capturing candid moments and also making sure we planned for the pictures we knew we wanted. We also like how they captured great shots of the bride and the groom – it seems that other photographers sometimes forget about the groom. On the business side, Joanna responded quickly to all of my emails, answered all my questions, and had our wedding photos finished and available to us in only a few weeks. I was surprised at how often Joanna went above and beyond what was expected. She even sent me a new engagement album when I made a mistake and had guests sign the album with a sharpie marker. Joanna and Johnny are quite talented, helpful, friendly, and not “in the way” during the wedding. My husband and I recommend them highly.

Along the way, Joanna becomes like a good friend that you can't live without at your wedding. Always checking in on you, letting you know that she has the picture part covered, and sends the sweetest surprises throughout and after the process. The biggest thing to me was that she helped me organize the wedding timeline and kept us moving! And she and Johnny even traveled to Iowa for us! They quietly and perfectly captured the most precious parts of our day. One of the highlights for us was the time that Joanna took with the groom and I after the ceremony for some very sweet, loving alone-time pictures. We went to the lake (admittedly a pit) where I used to fish growing up...which Joanna had suggested after doing some scouting on her own! Those pictures are breathtaking and the groom wants to go back to the lake just to remember those moments. I cannot say enough for Joanna and Johnny. Stop looking around or thinking you should not spend your money on pictures. That one-time-use dress will just get trashed celebrating, and (hopefully) come off at the end of the night. The invitations and all those flowers get thrown away. The cake barely gets eaten. You will have those pictures and capture those memories of the amazing time you had marrying the love of your life. Just book her now. You will not regret it.

The process was simple and stress free, they set up an online web page where you can make your payments online, they also have an online questionnaire asking detailed questions of specific pictures you want and information on people that might be hard to photograph. The day of the wedding they have a list of "must" pictures and they make sure they get all the pictures you want. It takes about 4 weeks before getting all your pictures, in my case a little longer because of a death in the family, but she made sure to communicate this with me. She delivered a very cute flash drive with some printed pictures. In addition, she gifted us with meaningful gifts along the way. If your truly looking for a photographer that's patient and listens to what you want and really takes her work to heart, then Joanna Day is the way to go. Highly recommend.
