Joanna was the perfect photographer for our wedding! During the vetting process, she was communicative and informative. Joanna took wonderful photos during our engagement shoot and immediately made us feel comfortable without being overly corny. She gave us materials ahead of the photoshoot about some different poses to try out which helped us. We just got back our wedding photos and besides just being aesthetically pleasing, they capture the energy of the day so well. Joanna is detailed, creative, and very comforting if you are uncomfortable in front of the camera. We had a familial issue arise the day of our wedding that required some schedule shifting and she just ran with the punches and still got all of the shots we wanted! Joanna was incredible to work with for both our engagement photos and wedding day photos. She was able to manage a large wedding party with kiddos in a very laid back but efficient way. We were able to take a walk in the nearby area of the venue for some candids as well, and it was refreshing to have some photos outside of the venue. She was able to capture a ton of great moments during the reception as well. Her prompts for engagement photos were so fun too! I cannot recommend her more highly!! We will definitely be back for more sessions in the future.

Joanna is the BEST! She did our engagement session and our wedding and we are blown away by how well the photos turned out. She takes the time to sit down for an initial consultation to go over all of the details. I love her photography style as well. Joanna was amazing! She was very easy to work with and talk to. We had a small & intimate wedding during the COVID-19 pandemic, and demanded more of her than we otherwise would have. We needed her to make everyone feel safe while taking pictures, since we wanted some without masks on, and she did just that. She was able to get everyone to pose together efficiently (holding our breaths), while being unnoticed for other more candid (socially-distanced) shots. It sounds weird, but we forgot she was there most of the time; I think that’s due to her special ninja skills. You should check out her gallery for pictures, they speak for themselves. We both loved working with Joanna and her work, despite the fact that she still gets my husband’s name wrong =P

In my search for the perfect wedding photographer, I became slightly overwhelmed. We live in North Carolina, but were getting married in Rhode Island so I was meeting with photographers all over the east coast. My friend had recently gotten married and recommended I take a look at Joanna's photography. I immediately fell in love with the natural effortless look of her photos. I reached out to her and we met the next day. As soon as I met her, I knew she'd be a great fit. In our first meeting, she had already come up with ideas of places we could shoot on our wedding day. Joanna shot our wedding in Durham, NC last October and we absolutely loved working with her. A few of our favorite things about her: 1) She made us feel super comfortable in front of the camera (we had never done professional photos before and were nervous about looking awkward/stiff), starting with our engagement photos. They came out looking natural, fun and loving. 2) She has a great eye - she sees potential in spaces / shots to make the photos magazine-worthy. 3) I was especially impressed with how she captured light and detail in our photos. A lot of wedding photographers overly wash out their photos, but not Joanna. We have so many gorgeous bride and groom portraits in multiple locations. She captured so many little moments that I missed with her candid pictures, and she even organized our send-off at the end of the day. On top of all that, she’s the kind of person you would want as your friend. I’d highly recommend her to anyone, and we’ll definitely use her for any future photography needs.

Joanna was the easiest and most stress free part of my wedding. She helped me feel beautiful in all the photographs when I normally hate every picture of me. Joanna met with us before the wedding to make sure she understood exactly what we wanted. The day of she showed up early and did everything perfectly. I would recommend her to anyone who wants an incredible photographer to capture his or her day. She also edited our photos quicker than I expected and all of them were incredible.
