Being a bride who planned my own wedding with a newborn, Joe was extremely helpful. He did two site visits prior to the wedding and corresponded with me via e-mail (so our convos wouldn't get cut short due to the baby). Since we had my brother-in-law play and sing our ceremony music, Joe helped research what we would need to hook up the keyboard/mic to his ceremony sound set-up. He really knows the wedding business and even the night of made suggestions to help things flow more smoothly.

Working with Joe was a pleasure! From our initial meeting he was professional and helpful! He had plenty of suggestions and set things up exactly how my fiancé and I wanted. After meeting in person, we communicated via email and we was always prompt and kind. When it came to the day of the wedding, everything went off without a hitch, thanks to Joe! From the ceremony to the reception, it was exactly what I wanted. I submitted a short "Must Play" list prior to the wedding and based on what was on that list he was able to keep the dance going with other songs that he chose and I LOVED. He's been in the business for so long that I trusted his suggestions and knew he was going to do an amazing job. Look no further - he is who you want as your DJ! We had Joe as our DJ at our wedding at the SLO Country Club and he was everything we could have asked for. Since we are from out of town I handled everything over the phone with Joe. He was very quick to return my emails or phone calls with answers to any questions I had, which made it very easy to plan this portion of our wedding from out of town. We spoke about a month before the wedding where he asked about the details of the ceremony/reception and what type of music we wanted and gave some of his expert advice. Joe had many great suggestions that helped make planning the day much easier for us. Joe even went to our venue to meet with our coordinator a week or so before the wedding to make sure he knew where he would set up for the ceremony and reception. On the day of Joe kept everything running smoothly and on time and played great music. Joe is an expert at weddings/events and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a great DJ!

You hear that a DJ can make or break a wedding, and Joe was definitely a huge part of making our wedding so great. He was not only concerned about playing good music, but also the flow and theme of the wedding. My wife and i would highly recommend him to any of our friends and family.

I wanted a stressless and relaxing day. Joe made that happen. We had a couple of ideas of what music we wanted to play and he took care of the rest. He gave us ideas for any of the traditional dances we didn't have a song to already. My Mom wanted me to dance to a song from fiddler on the roof with my Dad for the father/daughter dance. I had never heard and really didn't care. My Mom has somewhat older but good taste. I emailed Joe and told him what we wanted to change. He immediately emailed me back with a clip of the song and said it was an amazing classic but listen to the track he had and see if I still liked it. I didn't! The song, while beautiful, was not my style or my dad's either. Joe knew that about us already. He has a great way of keeping people on the dance floor. I had people that never dance, dancing at my wedding. Thank you so much Joe!

Joe was referred to us by many of our vendors. We meet with Joe and basically booked him on the spot. I was having trouble with the timeline so Joe helped me come up with a timeline that included everything we wanted to do throughout the night. The day of the event went so smoothly. The weather was cold and windy and he helped make the decision on moving cocktail hour into the barn. I thought that was very thoughtful of him to make sure my guest were comfortable. He has a huge heart and it shows! He made sure that Joel and I were taken care of as well. He even gave me his jacket to keep warm! I will use Joe for any events in the future! I HIGHLY recommend him for YOUR wedding! So professional not cheesy and played all the music we love!!!

Joe was wonderful. He not only was a great DJ, but went above and beyond his duties as a DJ. He offered us advice throughout our planning process, such as the schedule for the day and thought on other vendors, as well as provided a mic for our officiant and an extra amp for our ceremony guitarists at no extra charge. He is cheaper than some of the other DJs in the area, but he is also better! I didn't have to hire a day of coordinator because he (along with Judi of Dana Powers, my photographer, Ken Kienow, and my caterer In Good Taste) kept us on schedule, but in a really natural way. His music choices were great - I felt he really picked up on who we were as a couple and he played all of the songs we asked him to. He was very professional. I highly recommend him.

Joe was amazing! We were looking for a DJ that wouldn't be cheesy and who would be able to keep everyone dancing for every minute of our reception- and boy, did he! Joe played our for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and finally for our amazing reception. He was friendly, helpful, and so easy to plan and work with. I can't recommend him enough- really a gem! Absolutely one of the best purchases I've made for any event. Joe is incredibly flexible and very professional. He lives in California and I live in New York so planning a wedding in California was a bit stressful. Joe, however, was available whenever you needed him. And he is a great responder through email!! You get what you pay for and Joe is worth every penny! The reception had such a nice flow; the dinner music was perfect and he had tricks to get my wallflower family out on that dance floor (with a little help from the bubbly of course!) Joe! Joe was an absolute pleasure to work with! From the beginning he was willing to assist a self proclaimed "OCD" bride to accomplish everything that she was planning for her wedding. When I struggled with getting my timeline finished Joe stepped up and made a troubling task seem effortless. When I questioned when to do "this" and "that" Joe was able to fill in the blanks. My DJ quickly became my go to Wedding Planner!! Even at the event he ran things past my husband & I to make sure we were on the same page. He was a complete professional...oh & the MUSIC can't be forgotten. We had so much fun! The dance floor was packed. I gave Joe the freedom to choose the music based on the mood, but did ask that if the time was right to play a few favorites. I heard my selections as well as music that got the guests on the dance floor. We are still hearing back from guests telling us what a great time they had that night & wished it could have gone on longer!

Having a successful wedding, as we found with ours, is absolutely dependent on the caliber of vendors that you have the opportunity to secure. It makes it so easy to relax when you have people in your corner who not only are professional and capable, but also implicitly understand your sensibilities and style. Joe La Barbera is one of those people! Joe was the very first vendor we booked for our wedding this past August. When looking for a DJ, we were so turned off by all the flashy websites and photos of slimy-looking guys in bad suits and sunglasses. Coming across Joe was a godsend! All of his reviews online absolutely do him justice. He is an old-school surfer from an Italian family who makes you completely welcome in his home as he talks about his love for oldies. He is calm and professional and kind-hearted. He even has a natural sense about the dynamics of parties and was invaluable in helping us decide how to lay out our reception for the easiest and most effective flow of fun from hour to hour. Joe's cheese-factor is zero! It was really important to us that the DJ at our wedding really understand the vision we had for the soundscape at our cocktail hour, wedding, and reception. Joe got it immediately. We wanted a party that would transition nicely from Motown to the Beatles to Cat Stevens in the beginning to Michael Jackson and James Brown and a plethora of carefully chosen dancing tunes towards the end of the evening. Joe understood us immediately and delivered perfectly. Countless people approached us and told us that the music at our wedding was perfect. Even people in the entertainment industry were impressed, and they are hard to please! We were- and continue to be- thrilled with Joe and the friend we gained from hiring him. We would never hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing a DJ and we would work with him again in a heartbeat.

Joe was amazing! His positive energy was a perfect fit to such an important fun event as this. We picked him purely on reviews as we are living out of the area. When we met him we were so pleased with our decision, he is fun and calm and everything you would want as your wedding DJ. He was great at communicating through email which was helpful for us not having to travel. He felt us out and our musical taste to put together a perfect selection for our cocktail hour and dinner reception. He played almost all the music we requested for the dancing prat of the reception. i was so pleased. he really helped make the night so special and flow so nicely. his flexibility was great as things tend to come up last minute during large events such as these. Joe is a true professional and a class act. He was able to take our small list of favorite artists and songs and turn it into a wonderful playlist that kept our family and friends dancing throughout the night. Our favorite part was when he closed out the night by playing "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey -- a perfect end to a beautiful day. Joe was so great at our wedding. I was totally "anti-DJ" until I found Joe LaBarbara. He is the most professional, classy, un-cheesy DJ ever!! For our wedding, we provided most of the music (at our request) for everything but the dancing and he played everything perfectly and exactly how we wanted. During the dancing, Joe chose the perfect songs. Even a month after the wedding, people are still talking about how they couldn't believe that the dance floor was packed the ENTIRE time! Joe's choice of music kept everyone on their feet and having a great time! Seriously though, everyone keeps saying that they've "never been to a wedding with a DJ that good." Joe was amazing. He is so good at what he does, and truly enjoys it. He will help make your day less stressful just by knowing he is there. The funny part is, we were on the fence about having a DJ, and were going to try to attempt the music ourselves. Hiring Joe was one of the best decisions we made! I was immediately drawn to his non-stereotypical DJ "look". The last thing I wanted was a DJ who was going to sound fake, wear an ugly tuxedo, and think playing YMCA was cool. Joe was incredibly helpful and completely open to answering any questions we had. If there is ever an expert in the wedding business, it's the DJs. They see it all, know what works and what doesn't, and how to make your wedding amazing!
