JOE NOWAK PHOTOGRAPHY

e’s so friendly, hilarious, and incredibly personable—we felt comfortable with him right away. We trusted him to choose all the photo locations, and he absolutely nailed it. We ended up with over 1,800 photos and truly love every single one.

rything out ourselves. Planning was stressful, but Joe completely took over and made everything feel easy and seamless. He built a custom photography timeline for us, which we desperately needed with all the locations we wanted to include, and he kept everything running smoothly the entire day. The results were nothing short of spectacular. We never thought we could look this good in photos—we’re both pretty shy and don’t consider ourselves very photogenic—but Joe made us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. His direction was incredible. He knew exactly how to position us and capture moments without ever making it feel awkward and captured real moments in such an artful way. He has a true gift for keeping things natural while still directing the day perfectly. He kept us on schedule, kept everything flowing, and somehow managed to capture every important moment without missing a beat. The photos bring us right back to the day in the best way possible. Every emotion, every detail—it’s all there. Book him. Give yourself the gift of working with a true professional and walk away with photos you’ll cherish forever.

e whole day run smoothly so we could actually enjoy it. We had over 200 guests at The Langham in downtown Chicago, and Joe handled everything with ease. He really took the time to understand our style and delivered exactly what we were hoping for. The photos are absolutely outstanding—we still get compliments on them all the time. Most importantly, Joe was just a great person to have around on the wedding day. Easygoing, calm, and organized—he made everything feel simple and stress-free.

eally stood out — he just knows exactly what he’s doing without ever making things feel forced or stressful. Our wedding at Cantigny Park in Winfield was everything we hoped for. We wanted the day to feel like us, not a production, and Joe made that happen effortlessly. We’ve both been to weddings where the photographer completely disrupts the flow of the day, but Joe is the complete opposite — he blends in, keeps things moving, and somehow manages to capture everything without ever being in the way. Since our wedding, we’ve actually seen him at a few other weddings we’ve attended, and it just reinforced how consistent he is. He’s the kind of photographer you feel lucky to have, because you know you’re in good hands from start to finish. The photos turned out incredible — natural, emotional, and exactly how we remember the day. We couldn’t recommend Joe more.

a friend’s wedding, and the second we saw their photos, we knew he was different. Our wedding at the University Club of Chicago was everything we hoped for, and Joe played a huge part in that. He didn’t just show up with a camera—he literally planned everything out ahead of time so the day flowed perfectly without us having to think about it. When the wedding day came, he executed it all flawlessly. What stood out most was how he balanced being insanely professional while also being so fun to be around. He had everyone laughing all day (which helped a lot because we’re not naturals in front of the camera), and somehow made the whole experience feel easy and natural. He really took the time to make everything feel like us—nothing felt forced or staged. Every photo feels unique and intentional, and honestly, we haven’t found a single image we don’t love. Joe went way above and beyond what we expected, and hiring him was easily one of the best decisions we made.

g feel effortless. He captured every moment perfectly and brought such positive energy that we felt completely at ease. We loved his work at my brother’s wedding three years ago and knew we had to have him—and he exceeded every expectation!

exactly what we wanted, planned the day perfectly, and captured our wedding without it ever feeling like a posed photo shoot. Going through our gallery is like reliving the day over and over—it’s truly spectacular. We left it all in Joe’s hands, and he totally nailed it!

uly the *Joe of all trades*. From the moment we booked him, he stepped in as a seasoned pro and completely elevated our entire experience. He built out a seamless photography timeline for us, kept everything running perfectly on schedule, and delivered a level of white-glove, luxury service that honestly exceeded anything we could have imagined. Throughout the entire day, he was everywhere—in the best way possible. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, gently guiding us when needed, but never forcing anything or making us stiff. He has this incredible ability to step back and let real, emotional moments unfold naturally—then step in at just the right time to refine, adjust, and make everything look effortless and beautiful. And the photos… they are beyond breathtaking. Joe didn’t just show up and shoot—he went above and beyond in every sense. He scouted locations around the city ahead of time, even checking lighting conditions the week of our wedding to make sure everything would be perfect at the exact times we’d be there. He somehow managed to pause traffic so we could get iconic shots in front of the Board of Trade building on LaSalle, and even led us into a tucked-away alley for some of the most unique, cinematic photos we’ve ever seen. The river shots on Michigan Avenue are absolutely unreal—but honestly, every single image in our gallery is. We’re not the most naturally photogenic people, and we were honestly a little nervous going into it—but Joe completely erased that. From our engagement session at Cantigny Park to the wedding day itself, he made us feel confident, comfortable, and genuinely ourselves. By the time our wedding came around, we trusted him completely—and that made all the difference. Looking through our gallery feels like stepping back into our wedding day. Every emotion, every moment, every little detail—we get to relive it all over again. We couldn’t be happier with our photos… but more than that, we’re so grateful for the experience Joe created for us. He didn’t just document our wedding—he made it feel effortless, elevated, intimate, and unforgettable. Thank you Joe! You truly made our wedding magical.

usband and I are both pretty awkward in front of a camera and normally hate having photos taken. Somehow Joe completely changed that. Within minutes he had us laughing and feeling relaxed like we were just hanging out with an old friend. By the time the engagement session ended we were actually having fun and realized our photos were going to turn out amazing. On the wedding day, Joe brought that same energy and positivity from the very beginning. He kept everyone smiling and laughing the entire day and somehow managed to keep everything flowing smoothly without it ever feeling forced or stressful. Several of our family members even commented on how hilarious he was and how comfortable he made everyone feel. What amazed us most was how many genuine moments he captured that we didn’t even realize were happening. Looking through the gallery felt like reliving the day all over again. The reactions, the quiet little moments between us, the big emotional moments with family… he somehow caught everything. Joe truly works magic with a camera. The photos feel timeless and authentic, not overly trendy or filtered in a way that will look dated in a few years. They look like us and they capture the day exactly how it felt. He also went above and beyond by getting next-day edits to us, which was incredible. Being able to wake up the morning after our wedding and immediately relive those moments with friends and family was something we didn’t expect but absolutely loved. There were so many little things throughout the day where Joe went the extra mile—helping keep the timeline moving, jumping in to help when things got hectic, and always making sure we were having a good time. Choosing Joe was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. We will absolutely be recommending him to family and friends whenever someone asks for a photographer. Rebecca & Dan

ut missing soul. That’s when we found Joe. From the very start, he made us feel like he truly understood our story and what mattered to us. Joe wasn’t just a photographer on our wedding day—he was a guide, a calming presence, and somehow everywhere at once capturing every laugh, hug, and quiet moment we didn’t even notice. He took the time to really get to know us, and it shows in every single photo. Our photos aren’t just pictures—they’re moments we can feel. The album Joe helped us create is stunning. It doesn’t just show our day, it tells our story. Looking back at the images, we cry, we laugh, and we remember exactly what it felt like to be there. We highly recommend Joe—our bridesmaids are already scheduling their weddings to make sure he’s available!

e needed someone who could handle organized chaos with confidence and calm. Joe didn’t just assure us he could manage it… he actually made us feel excited about it. On the wedding day, he was everywhere — but never in the way. He somehow captured every emotional moment without ever making it feel staged or forced. The tears during the first look. The way Eric squeezed my hand during the vows. The energy of our bridal party (there were a lot of us!). The way the light hit Cantigny’s gardens during golden hour. He saw things we didn’t even realize were happening — and preserved them. What truly sets Joe apart is how comfortable he made us feel. We are not “natural” in front of the camera, but he guided us in a way that felt effortless. Nothing felt awkward. Nothing felt overly posed. He gave just enough direction to make us look incredible while still letting us be ourselves. Our entire bridal party commented on how easygoing, professional, and fun he was to work with. Joe didn’t just take pictures. He told the full story of our day. When we received our gallery, we were blown away. It wasn’t just portraits — it was the in-between moments, the laughter, the nerves, the quiet glances, the wild dance floor energy. Looking through our photos feels like watching the entire day unfold again from start to finish. We can relive every emotion whenever we want because of how thoughtfully and intentionally he captured everything. We chose Joe because his work felt timeless, refined, and emotional — and because he genuinely cared about getting to know us as people, not just clients. He was incredibly accommodating throughout the planning process, flexible with timeline adjustments, and always responsive. On the wedding day, he ran portraits efficiently (which is saying a lot with a massive bridal party) and kept everything on schedule without ever making us feel rushed. If you want a photographer who makes you feel completely at ease, who can handle a large wedding flawlessly, who captures real emotion instead of stiff poses, and who delivers images that feel like living, breathing memories — not just photographs — Joe is your person. He doesn’t just document your wedding day; he preserves it in a way that allows you to step back into it whenever you want. We would choose him again a thousand times without hesitation. We would choose him again a thousand times. — Jamie & Eric

sparkling chandeliers to the marble corridors and sweeping views of Lake Michigan from the Gold Coast Room, every detail felt steeped in history and charm. Saying “I do” in such an iconic setting made the entire day feel cinematic, and celebrating in that stunning ballroom afterward was something we’ll never forget. We did have one unexpected hiccup—my dress zipper broke right before portraits. Panic definitely started to set in, but Joe stepped in immediately. With total calm and confidence, he fixed it on the spot using safety pins and quick adjustments. What could have been a stressful disaster turned into a small, almost funny memory thanks to him. He handled it so smoothly that we were able to move forward without missing a beat. For portraits, Joe guided us effortlessly through some of Chicago’s most iconic spots. We stopped at the stunning Chicago Board of Trade Building with its dramatic Art Deco architecture, and explored areas along the Magnificent Mile and the riverfront for those classic city views. At one point, getting the perfect shot meant stepping into the street—and Joe made sure we were completely safe while he captured it. We trusted him entirely, and he delivered beyond expectations. From the quiet, emotional getting-ready moments to the energy of the last dance, Joe was present for everything—yet never intrusive. He blended in seamlessly, capturing genuine expressions and reactions without making anyone feel staged. Our wedding party, family, and even staff members at the hotel couldn’t stop commenting on how professional and personable he was. His calm energy set the tone for the entire day. When we received our gallery, we were blown away. The images are cinematic, emotional, and full of life. Every smile, tear, and spontaneous laugh was preserved beautifully. We’ve already framed several favorites, and we find ourselves revisiting the gallery often. Joe didn’t just photograph our wedding—he told our story with care, creativity, and heart. His professionalism, quick thinking, and genuine kindness made all the difference. We’re so grateful for the way he captured this chapter of our lives and wouldn’t hesitate to work with him again in the future.

e Garden ceremony overlooking the Fox River, to dancing under the famous Rainbow Room's legendary lighted floor, the venue itself felt like stepping into a timeless storybook—and Joe's photos made it come alive forever. Joe went above and beyond from the very first meeting. He took real time to get to know us as a couple—our personalities, our love story, our vision for a relaxed yet elegant day—and truly listened to our style preferences. He created a customized, detailed timeline that kept everything flowing smoothly without ever feeling rushed or staged. Thanks to his calm, guiding presence, we stayed on schedule effortlessly, which let us actually be present and enjoy every second instead of stressing about the clock. It felt so natural—we were just ourselves, laughing, tearing up, and soaking in the joy. The images? Unreal. He delivered a stunning sneak-peek gallery the very next day (seriously, next day!), which blew us away and allowed us to share highlights with family and friends immediately—something we'll never forget. The full online gallery arrived soon after with over 2,000 photos, and every single one captured the raw emotions, the intimate glances, the genuine laughter, and the electric vibe of the entire day. No posed awkwardness—just real, heartfelt moments that still make us cry happy tears when we look back. The end results are heirlooms. Our home already features several huge, gallery-quality prints that guests always comment on, and Joe helped us design a custom album that truly feels like a work of art. to anyone. We loved working with him. I have lost the whole collection of our photos over the years, and Joe still had them for me to save again, which I appreciate so so much! He is great, and obviously his work shows that! But he’s truly great and reliable to work with too, so I would say he’s a diamond in the rough
