My then-fiance wanted something special for our wedding rings, and he got in touch with Joel McFadden Designs as soon as we got engaged. He gave them a description of me and what I like, and they came up with an amazing ring concept. My engagement ring is my mother-in-law's wedding band, a family heirloom that came from Italy several generations back, and I didn't want to stop wearing it. They created a cradle ring that fit around the wedding band, which has gorgeous detail of branches with tiny sapphires mounted among the leaves. They also made a man's version that mimicked the cradle design for my husband. We had a short engagement (deployment in the family) and they came through for us, finishing the rings in time for the rehearsal dinner! They were terrific to work with, fun and imaginative, and you can go by the shop any time they're open and hang out! There are books of their custom work that are really incredible. Highly recommended!

I worked with Joel and Jen to make my wedding band. Because my engagement ring is differently than what is currently in vogue (marquis center stone, marquis and round non-diamond side stones), I knew I needed a custom-made wedding band. Plus, because the wedding band is the main ring I'll be wearing for the rest of my life, I figured it should be something uniquely "me." I found JMD by doing some online research and gave them a try. As soon as I talked to Joel and Jen in person, I knew they were the right people to make my ring. I had a great time going through the process of making my ring. First of all, I learned a lot, and I admire the work they do. I also enjoyed talking with Joel and Jen. They are interesting people, and they aren't condescending or pushy - like some other jewelers can be. They're genuine. My wedding band is beautiful. It is well-made, and it's the amount of "me" I was hoping for. It looks good with my engagement ring, and it also looks good by itself (unlike a typical shadow band).
