Great Photographer at a reasonable price. He was very accommodating to our requests and delivered beautiful photos that both my wife and I love. I would definitely recommend him to photograph any wedding!

John's photos captured a lot of emotion, with my husband and I and our family and guests! His portraits and detail shots were very artistic and thoughtful. He took great care to make sure everything was covered and also pulled us aside briefly in the evening for a beautiful night shot. In the end, he was very pleasant to work with and his photos were amazing!

John and his assistant were very professional and experienced. They were well prepared and handled the unexpected rain with ease. They arrived early and stayed late. We received over 1000 amazing photographs and an incredible photobook!

John photographed my sister's wedding this summer. His work was good - the photos are nice and captured a lot of the day, but they aren't particularly beautiful or artistic. We found his working style to be a bit awkward and slow, and then he didn't seem to even take that many shots once he got everything set up for a particular pose. He was very kind and friendly and very present at the reception which we loved, but we didn't get the sense that he listened that carefully to what we were after in the moment.

John is ABSOLUTELY the photographer you want. He made himself very accessible over the phone and email, and he was very prompt with responses. He has so much experience which calmed my wedding planning angst immensely. His calm professionalism and direction during the actual wedding day helped everything run smoothly, and the final product photos left us with stunning memories. HIGHLY recommend.

We went with the "one and done" mentality for choosing all of our wedding vendors, which ended up working out pretty well! John had great communication up to wedding and after, answering emails within hours. We received over 1000 photos from him before the 4 week anticipated waiting period. We got some great shots and he took some videos for us of key moments like toasts, ceremony, and some dances. His price point is very reasonable considering other photography packages I looked at. My only critique is that John seemed a bit shy and did not give us as much guidance on poses as I felt I needed. I wish we would have gotten some more unique shots and variation between groomsmen and bridesmaid photos. Overall he did a great job and met my expectations.

John was absolutely great to work with and we were lucky to get him! We had no idea what we were looking for in photos & styles, but we knew that we liked his, and John was really good about communicating and helping us put together what we wanted. He was very respectful during the wedding Mass (something that was very important to us as Catholics) and had enough experience that he knew to discuss with the priest where he could and couldn't be for photos. Due to some scheduling issues at our church, we didn't have much time for photos (maybe an hour and a half before the wedding and 45 minutes after), but he made it work and had a list of what to do when. We were able to finish pictures outside, but everything that needed to be done in the church was taken care of thoroughly. Speaking of outside, John was phenomenal about scouting out spots that he thought would take good photos; at one point in the evening, he pulled us out of the reception briefly to take some photos under a purple flowering tree - these turned out to be some of our favourite photos from the entire evening. John got many great candids of our guests, and was always just a wave away if we wanted him to grab a photo of us with a specific guest. John was excellent at going a step above & beyond throughout the evening, and we recommend him without reservation.

John and his assistant photographed my best friend's wedding three years ago. They were both genuinely friendly, calm and had a plan for absolutely everything. This year we hired John to photograph our wedding and they knocked it out of the park! Our wedding was vastly different in style and logistics, but and his assistant really took the time to collaborate with my wedding planner, videographer, pastor, and very involved mothers to help the whole day go flawlessly. We ended up with about a thousand incredible photos that really captured our whole wedding day beautifully.

Hire this man! You can't go wrong with him as your photographer. He photographed our engagement session along with our wedding and the photographs turned out so beautiful! There were times I told him certain pictures I knew I wanted and the rest of the day I left up to him to do his thing and he rocked it! He goes with the flow very well at the same time making sure we weren't going over in our blocks of times throughout the day. John was great! His second photographer (Rachel) was also great. They both knew exactly what they were doing and even gave us advice throughout the day! We even got our pictures in the time frame that was given to us. He is also very affordable. I would definitely recommend this photographer to everyone!

John did an amazing job with our wedding photos! He was very prompt and helpful with emails. On the day of the wedding he was very helpful with poses and backdrops, which we were extremely thankful for because we weren’t completely sure of what we wanted. Also, he really took our requests into account and captured everything that we had mentioned we wanted and more! We could not have asked for a better photographer, we would highly recommend him!

John was punctual and friendly. We would not rate him 5 stars because we provided him with a list of photos that we wanted taken and he did not take more than half of them. There isn't even a picture of our entire wedding party. Isn't that a very standard picture a photographer would take? One of our flower girls is in less than 10 pictures, most of which she just happens to be standing in, there are none of her walking down the aisle, and none of them could be framed. With the chaos of the day, and so many pictures being taken, we expected him to take control and guide us. We expected him to make sure he got all the requested shots. He did not pose anyone in group pictures so they look very awkward and unprofessional. We did like many of the pictures we received but were disappointed we received only 750 pictures after paying for a full day. Some of my friends have received thousands for the same amount of time. Overall, we would not recommend him because we are so disappointed at the pictures we don't have and you can't ever fix it now!

I hired him to take our company photos (not a wedding but I wanted to give my review of his performance). He came out 3/22/18 and was very friendly and had us stand in front of a wrinkly white sheet (I asked for a white background). He said he would stretch the sheet to remove the wrinkles. We did individual pictures and group pictures. We didn't all fit in front of the sheet but he said he would fix that in the editing phase. When he sent me the photos via a link in an email, they were not very good. I also didn't receive one of our group photos (we had one with our whole group and then others broken out by dept.). He said "those were the only group photos that turned out". I replied saying I didn't understand and if they didn't turn out won't you need to take them again? I never got a response from him. I emailed him several times after that, called and left him a voicemail, emailed him using his website contact feature and never heard from him again. This is very unprofessional and unacceptable. I do not recommend using him, especially if his photos "don't turn out" and you want to hire him for an event you cannot recreate.

We didn't have much experience being in previous weddings or with researching photos we would want and he was ready for everything. The whole photo time and evening flowed so easily, he was ready for the next step of the day and the photos are better than I could have imagined. If you want stress free beautiful photos John is your man!

We hired John to do our engagement and wedding pictures for our May 2018 wedding. He was enjoyable to work with during our recent engagement shoot and helped us feel comfortable and enjoy the moment. I just can't say enough great things about John. He photographed our wedding last weekend and was wonderful and so easy to work with. It was such a pleasure working with John! He's so nice, accommodating, and talented. We did an engagement session with him in South Haven, and the pictures came out AMAZING! We used them around our venue for the actual wedding and got loads of compliments from our guests on them. On the actual wedding day, John came to scope out the venue early and took many photos. He has a great eye for photo ops, like the perfect sunset photos! Cannot wait for the wedding photos to come back!

John did a wonderful job photographing our wedding at Camp Blodgett in West Olive, MI! The pictures we got back were beautiful and captured special moments of our day. He worked with us beforehand to learn about our style and did a nice job showing our fun side. The only thing I would've changed would be to have John bring a second photographer with him to capture shots from different angles, especially during the ceremony. Overall, I would recommend John to other couples.

Jon was such a pleasure to work with. He made us very comfortable and relaxed during our engagement session and we loved the photos we received so that put us at ease for our wedding day. John did a wonderful job! He was very helpful, responsive, and very easy to work with. There was a huge rainstorm the day of the wedding that completely changed the photography plan. John was very flexible and was still able to take wonderful photos. He does a fantastic job of framing the photo with the surrounding buildings/landscape/etc while still drawing the eye to the couple. He was also willing to send us our photos on a usb flash drive instead of cd. We are very pleased with the variety and beauty of our photos.

I'm a fellow photographer that met John several years ago through the Grand Rapids Camera Club. We chose John to be our wedding photographer without any hesitation. He was always been very personable and very approachable and has always conducted himself in a very professional manner. He has photographed a lot of weddings over the years and his experience was very evident on our wedding day. I very much prefer being the one taking the photos rather than being the model, but John did an excellent job setting us all at ease and actually making having our pictures taken pretty enjoyable. Our photographer did an excellent job. He seemed very experienced and handled everything with ease. He captured our whole wedding day from morning until our special sendoff at the reception. We received almost 1000 photos! One of my groomsmen picked John for his upcoming wedding next summer. I would recommend him to any one. We now have a baby on the way (YEAH!) and we definitely plan on using him for some family photos.

After looking at my friends wedding pictures and seeing if what they wanted was given I feel bad for them. I have been apart of a lot of weddings and sat with my friends while they discuss pricing and things with photographers. When i saw the lack of editing and affects given to my friends wedding photos I asked if that was something she wanted. Her answer was no. Ive seen tons of wedding albums these were pretty fair quality. He didnt seem warm in his personality either and seemed agitated that he was taking photos which I am not sure why because this is his job.

Let’s start this review off by saying that when my wife and I first met John at his home, he seems very professional and polite. The photos he showed us were beautiful and he gave us a $200 military discount, all of this swayed our decision to go with him for our wedding photographer. He was on time and did a good a job at the wedding ceremony and throughout the night. Unfortunately that is where it stopped. John took 635 photos total, of that amount 247 of them were unclear and grainy, roughly 180 photos were unedited, people booming the background, random people looking at their phones, family members being cut out of the family photos, etc. With being the photographer you would think asking 1 or 2 people to get out of the way to take a photo wouldn’t be that hard. But then it again it makes you wonder if he did it on purpose since he is asking $35 per photo in addition to the overall cost, to simply edit the photo. I guess editing is now NOT part of the job? The only editing he did was making a few photos black and white, fading the background and calling it a day, so all the basic stuff you can do on a smart phone. The site he added all the photos to for others to purchase only shows a very small thumbnail of the photo, so you don’t even know what you are buying, “you can’t see the clarity and the details of the photos, so why would I purchase any of them?” Lastly we have been trying to ask him to work with us, since the bride at the wedding was asking him if people were going to be in the background and he assured her, that no one would be and everything would be fine. Now we are being told to pay the additional charge to remove the people. He is NOT willing to work with us and is telling us that everything he did was part of the association’s rules. “Well those associations aren’t paying almost $2000 for a few photos.” When it is all said and done we only have roughly 200 photos of the 635 that are usable and willing to be viewed by others. That means we spend an average of $8-10 PER PHOTO= $1600-$2000. What a waste of money, find another phones and save your money.

I was impressed when I saw his photos on this website and his photobooks. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about my wedding photos. He did not pay attention to the background, and therefore I have random people doing odd things behind me. He wants to charge $35 for editing. I should have asked more questions before I hired him.

I would give John 6 stars if I could. John was very easy to work with from the start. He was quick to answer all my emails and was more than willing to travel to Charlevoix for our wedding. On the day of our wedding John came to our hotel to get some shots of us getting ready then went to the venue early so he could find some great locations to take pictures. John also made sure to keeps us on time and was more than willing to take any shots that I wanted. John was seriously so pleasant and made us feel comfortable the whole time. He was always ready to take a spur of the moment photo and caught a lot of candid moments. John had all the pictures up on his website and disc in the mail about 3.5 weeks after my wedding. Not only is he quick but his work is awesome. The photos are seriously stunning and we received so many compliments on them. I would recommend John to everyone.

John was prompt at responding, flexible at customizing a package to fit our wedding needs, and even willing to travel. His pricing is great & the quality of his work is truly priceless! John was professional, polite, and attentive. Our guests loved him, as did the groom and I, which allowed us to receive some truly remarkable photos. There were a few minor details that could have been addressed in the large family photos, but we were also a bit crunched on time. He did a wonderful job for what the time we gave him. We also never got to meet with him before hand, as it was a destination wedding. Overall, he did a wonderful job and is great to work with! I wish we had more time with him!

We had a heck of a time picking a photographer because there are so many options. My husband was very picky because he used to do editing for one and could tell who was doing a great job and who wasn't. We didn't want to spend thousands of dollars and there didn't seem to be a point to that since the really expensive guys results were the same. John offered a great value and was willing to make us a custom package for the same price. He was direct, professional and easy to work with. He took some great candid shots which is what we wanted. His wife, Star, was also quite good. Our only complaint was a few pics we would have edited differently but otherwise we were quite happy. We had our pictures available really fast too. Definitely a good recommendation.

We booked John early on in our engagement -- and it's a good thing we did because his prices went up from being so highly rated year after year! His ratings are accurate, as our pictures are beautiful and the price was something we couldn't beat. He was very quick at answering e-mails with all of my questions and concerns all the way up to the week of the wedding. There were some aspects that we weren't 100% satisfied with, such as awkward lighting in the church (which I'm sure that he couldn't control as it had large windows where light was streaming through creating bright spots) and both photographers completely missing our dog walking down the aisle as our ring bearer. However, I think all of our outdoor pictures made up for it -- his framing and ability to find the best colors for backgrounds is great! I love our pictures, and would definitely recommend John to anyone looking for a great photographer without the outrageous pricing.

Amazing engagement and wedding photos! Truly captured the excited, emotion, and spirit of the entire event. John was also available to answer any questions I had about photography and wedding schedules from day 1 when we booked him through the day of our wedding. Professional, friendly, and very talented.
