I had an absolutely horrible and extremely stressful experience at Jolie Day Spa. My bridesmaids and I booked a day at the spa the afternoon before my wedding, so we could get our nails done, spend some quality time together, and do some relaxing before the rehearsal that evening. For some reason, I was placed with a very inexperienced nail technician who ended up literally taking chunks out of my nails. I had come in with an SNS manicure, which she promptly began sanding off with the dremel tool rather than soaking in acetone. (I researched it later and discovered this can be done prior to soaking in acetone, but ONLY the top clear layer should be removed. NOT the colored layers.) I had never had this done before, but had only had 2 other SNS manicures before, so I figured maybe this was just a different way of doing things at this salon. The experience was quite painful. She even burned off part of my skin on several fingers (including my ring finger!) I was practically in tears. I finally told her she needed to stop and use acetone instead. She struggled to even file my nails properly. They were jagged and uneven, and I ended up having to file them myself! She proceeded with the SNS manicure without properly getting off all the original product, and now that my nails were clearly uneven and scraped to hell, it made it impossible to do an even coating. She then seemed panicked, never asked for assistance, and just said she would put gel on top of it to try to cover it up and even it out. The owner came over at one point and asked her what she was doing, because she clearly had not applied the proper polish to go on top of gel. I will say, the only saving grace about this whole experience was the owner. She said she would fix them, and also did a beautiful job on my pedicure. She also did not charge me for my manicure. What I absolutely cannot believe is how Jolie Day Spa did not consider the fact that a BRIDAL PARTY was coming in (this had been scheduled for MONTHS) and make sure their best nail techs were working that day. You know when you're doing nails for a bride, she is going to have lots of close up photographs. It blows my mind that they would put a bride with someone as inexperienced as they did. She didn't just give me a crappy manicure. That's understandable. It happens. She DAMAGED my nails. I still have tenderness under my nails a week and a half later. They are uneven, scraped up, and discolored. I will never visit this spa again.
