Jolie Events

Both of us work in professions that require us to work with demanding people (my wife is a nurse and I'm a career adviser that moonlights as a tour guide) so the last thing we wanted to be was "those" kind of people to our wedding planners. With that said, let me skip over the small annoyances like the miscommunication, or the inability to provide certain key items (like a trash can to fill with ice to cool a keg). Let me skip right to the biggest issue of them all, the reason why Jolie Events gets the rating we gave it, it's the people. From the moment I stepped foot on my venue with my groomsmen, I was greeted by an annoyed team lead (who I later discovered to be THE OWNER of Jolie Events) and his less than happy staff who looked like they had better places to be. The team lead (OWNER) began by complaining about the cold and uneaten h'orderves that they had placed out an hour before the guests arrived (something we did not ask of the wedding planners, who surprisingly was not present to at least see things off). I tried to reconcile the servers obvious frustrations, but it was plain to see we had already started off on the wrong foot. Throughout the evening, I would check in with him on certain things to be met by an annoyed: "Yes, yes! I know this already." If that's the case, why are you so upset?! Besides the lead server (OWNER of Jolie Events) having his own frustrations, I was constantly met with one of the other three servers Jolie provided, who spent most of his time glaring me down whenever our paths crossed. Seriously, the look on this guy's face was such that I thought he was contemplating ways to kill me (I know that sounds dramatic, but I'm not exaggerating). During the reception (at the same venue) it became apparent to me that of these four servers (one being THE OWNER) may have never actually worked a wedding before. When the food was being served, the staff stood around while guests were taking double helpings of the buffet's main course and only passively informing me via a third party. I had to rush to make an announcement to guide the guests! When the cake was rolled out and everyone gathered around it took them several minutes to produce a knife and I had to all but push the knife in their hand after the first slice to get them to continue cutting for the guests. The slices they cut were THREE times the size of a normal slice, making a cake for 100 only serve 50. The cake maker was in attendance and had to rush over to direct them. When it came time for the servers to leave, they packed up their stuff, threw all of the extra slices of cake on a spare table and bolted for the highway without so much as a "How was the wedding?" or "Is there anything else we can do?" To be honest, I was relieved. Good riddance! It's a wonderful moment knowing that you can relax at your own wedding without feeling like you're an unwelcome guest by the wedding services. In conclusion, I would avoid this planner. On your wedding day, you'll discover that the most important thing is to feel happy and surrounded by people who are happy for you. Jolie can provide tables, chairs, and food...but they can't provide hospitality. It's the simplest thing that makes all the difference.

g beforehand that they were right. They had a large and courteous staff that really helped the day go smoothly. Carrie was responsive to our needs, and I'm so glad we went with Jolie.
