Jonathan Hare Photography is a wedding photography studio based in St. Pete Beach, FL, willing to travel internationally for destination events. So far, lead photographer Jonathan has photographed weddings in countries like Ireland, South Africa, and New Zealand. Jonathan’s easy-going attitude and careful attention to detail are an appealing mixture to many couples searching for the right photographer for their big day.
Jonathan began his wedding photography career after fulfilling a lifelong passion for travel and exploration. Growing into himself while on the road is perhaps the most significant thing he could have done for his talents and personal development. Jonathan’s experiences taught him the beauty of emotional and authentic imagery and continue to inspire him to this day. Couples can find his enthusiasm for life and joyful memories infectious.
Jonathan’s biggest motivation comes from the blessings he receives daily from his wife and children. He aims to achieve artful photographs that stand the test of time. Precious moments between couples on a special day are a joy to witness, and Jonathan pours every effort into collecting them. Beginning with eight hours of coverage, Jonathan Hare Photography also offers couples the opportunity to extend time. More than a decade in the wedding industry has made Jonathan a skilled hand at finding the best angles and moments. Providing every photo as a digital file allows couples to print and share their special day as they wish. As soon as everything is uploaded and touched up, couples can access their online gallery. Photo albums and professional prints are also available; however, Jonathan desires for couples to have total freedom to use their photos as they like. He also coordinated with our wedding planner and videographer on an appropriate timeline for the day to make sure that all of the special moments we wanted were captured. Jonathan even put together an initial slideshow for my husband and I to watch during dinner at our reception so that we could get a sneak peek of all the magical photos he had taken - Because he’s literally just that awesome. Jonathan also did our engagement photos as a part of our wedding package. We all traveled to Saint Augustine and took amazing photos around the fort and in the lighthouse. They’re simply stunning. And honestly, we just vibed so well with him from the start. It felt more like we were working with a good friend than anything else. What’s more - Jonathan’s talent was so apparent that all of my wedding guests who are having weddings in the coming years are also planning to hire him! He’s simply the best.

Jonathan truly loves his job and is so natural in bringing the best out of people he’s around. It’s a remarkable quality he has that is perfect for the important role he plays in your big day. On top of all that, he’s so creative and has such an amazing eye to capture unique moments you’ll remember forever through his photos. We absolutely LOVE the photos he took.
His commitment to his clients is another thing that is just mind blowing. Our wedding was in Boston in February. With a foot of snow falling on Friday, cancelled flights and chaos ensued from Thursday evening to Saturday morning. Jonathan scrambled so hard, I believe had 6 flights booked and cancelled on Thursday evening until he finally got on one to Philadelphia late on Thursday night. He then drove FIVE HOURS in the middle of the night with a snowstorm brewing from Philly to Boston arriving at 3 AM. We had guests that couldn’t make it, but he made sure he was there no matter what.
If I could give a million stars for this review I would, by the time our wedding weekend was over, Jonathan felt like family to us. He was so impressive and it was so evident how good he was at his job that even wedding guests were getting his info to hire for other weddings/events, and many couples commented on how they wish they had someone like him at their wedding. ased on reviews you don’t know are real of fake. But when I saw Jonathan’s gorgeous photos - especially his use of light and playfulness with water, I knew I had found our photographer. But we also wanted to make sure we felt comfortable with him, since he would be spending so many hours with us on our big day. He was so open and chill - we chatted on FaceTime and then were able to meet up in person when we were in town looking at venues. He was so understanding when we postponed due to COVID and we finally got to have our celebration last month. From the moment he got there he was part of our crew - as if it was a good friend taking photos of our wedding. For someone who is uncomfortable and awkward in photos this was so amazing. You can tell he has a passion for taking photos and a real excitement when he sees a setup for a cool shot - and we were game for whatever! (although we drew the line at the blow up beach carnival slide when we saw there was water haha). During the ceremony he already put together a small slideshow of some of the shots, which was a fun surprise, and within days he sent previews. When my sister saw some of the photos she was amazed and was like “I was there! How did your photographer create this gorgeous photo?!” If you’re reading this, don’t wait another minute and book before the date gets snatched up! Thank you for capturing our big day!

With COVID, we did have to postpone our April wedding to October, and Jonathan was nothing but flexible with the switch in date and made it easy on us! Rather than snap a bunch of boring and generic photos of us at our venue like most photogs do, Jonathan drove us around town in his car in the hours before our wedding day to get photos of us at various cool spots in St Pete, including in front of some fun street art. Jonathan really loves his job and enjoys shooting weddings; even though he's probably done hundreds or thousands of weddings, he didn't seem the least bit jaded. He totally made us feel at ease on our wedding day, as he is a calm guy who is a pleasure to be around. Many good photogs are a pain to deal with and have that artsy pretentiousness / arrogance / obnoxiousness / snobbery, but Jonathan manages to do great work will being a nice and pleasant guy. All the great reviews he has on this site are indicative of his skill as an amazing wedding photog.

hate taking pictures because I feel like the process often takes away from the moments. Jonathan had a way of not only capturing moments but creating them. I'm not talking about awkwardly posed fake moments (there was NONE of that); but rather, he created authentic fun loving moments that you remember even without a picture. It is amazing to me that he was able to capture everyone in this perfect light. All of his photos are just beautiful and everyone in them is beautiful. He was so happy and excited for us that he alone made our wedding day feel special. At dinner, he put his laptop on our sweetheart table so we could get a preview and later on the piano for the guests to see. It was magnificent. We loved him. Our guests loved him. There cannot be a more perfect photographer. When I read a review that said, the person would fly Jonathan across the world to photograph their wedding... all I can say is YES! I agree! I feel beyond blessed to have had Jonathan photograph our wedding!

It ended up raining on my wedding day but he was by my side giving me constant updates and words of encouragement. He was so flexible with photo locations changing due to the rain.
