We received so many compliments on how beautiful the property was, from the ceremony site to the barn for the reception, and the house to stay in! were SOLD immediately. The ceremony spot overlooks the Jordan Valley and is simply gorgeous, and the barn is covered in lights/decor and feels elegant and intimate. We actually had a guest (who got married a year ago) tell us he had to apologize to his wife because she wanted a barn venue and he thought they were tacky, until he came to our wedding and was overwhelmed by how cool the venue was! I am so so happy we chose this venue for so many reasons.
--The venue comes pretty much completely decorated (with so many options for centerpieces/add ons) which was such a relief to me because I didn’t have the time or vision to decorate it myself; my florist took care of the centerpieces and we just added a few touches here and there to make it “ours”
--Missy (the Day-Of-Coordinator) was there to answer any questions and help me organize the final details two weeks before the wedding, and was there for anything I needed on the wedding day (also in a minor dress emergency my bridesmaids asked her for safety pins and she was back in 10 SECONDS with them, which was such a relief as I wanted to get back to my guests), she just brought a calming presence whenever she was around.
--It rained the day of our rehearsal and looked like it might rain during the ceremony time (30% chance), but the coordinator Missy had the foresight to suggest rehearsing in the (light) rain because we’d probably be outside for the wedding—she was right and I’m so happy we got to rehearse outside!
--The Guesthouse is so cool and unique; my family checked it out and we are talking about renting it in the future for our family’s Thanksgiving. We only used it to get ready but it was so nice to have a spot for food/drinks/getting ready with tons of space!
--The venue/barn is available to check out anytime mid-week. Cheri is very relaxed about us popping in (which is so nice because sometimes I’d email her the day before and she’d encourage me to come over).
--I had multiple guests tell me how impressed they were with the bartenders (no surprise there, Angel is amazing!). They were professional and FUN; everyone was upbeat and simply happy to be there!
--Their liquor/bar prices are so fairly priced, it’s honestly shocking. Simply put, you are not charged for bottles you don’t open, even if they buy them for your event. The price they charge you per bottle is the exact same as if you would buy it in a store. They also have backups of everything if you’re not sure about how much you’ll use.
We originally pictured getting married at a resort, and after touring Boyne Mountain, Crystal Mountain, Otsego Club, we couldn’t visualize having the reception in a banquet room—it just didn’t feel intimate. If you haven’t toured a barn venue, DO IT and start with Jordan Valley Barn!!

as unfortunately a rainy one, but we were prepared to move our ceremony inside the barn as a backup plan. 3 hours before our ceremony, the power went out in the guesthouse and barn. I tried contacting Cheri multiple times with no response, so my wedding party started calling around to the local power companies to report the outage and get an estimate of when it would be restored. The best man made calls to try to get a generator delivered b/c the property doesn’t have any backup plan for a power outage. The day-of coordinator for the venue ended up getting ahold of Cheri, but she didn’t offer much help. Fortunately, power was restored 45 minutes before our ceremony.. no thanks to Cheri. Although a couple of hours without power may not sound like a big deal, it impacted a number of things that day and was disappointing given the financial investment. I personally never heard from Cheri until I emailed her a couple days after our wedding to express my disappointment in her lack of response to the situation. Her response back to me was unprofessional, disrespectful, contained false information, and alluded to me being a liar. I cannot, in good faith, recommend this venue due to my experience with Cheri.

50. The farm house is such an added pleasure to be able to stay there all weekend made the experience so much more homey and enjoyable. My girls stayed with me the first night and were able to get ready in the living room with my salon stylist coming to us! Being able to wake up and see the beautiful view of the ceremony was breath taking. The weather held out for us even though it was a little chilly but we made it work with the heaters in the barn and such. Cheri was an amazing coordinator and made the day of so easy for me. I didn’t have to worry about a thing! She has made really good connections with vendors and accommodated everyone’s needs! Highly recommend this venue for the full package wedding weekend!

Mason jars, signs, centerpiece inspiration, candles they’ve got it all so you don’t end up having to buy 20 of something to have forever. If you feel you need a day of coordinator I recommend hiring someone outside and not using their option. I felt like we ended up spending $400 hiring the person at the barn as a day of coordination and she didn’t really do much in terms of the timeline or organizing guests. My groom said he felt he was doing a lot of the directing people and getting people where they needed to go when (such as to the ceremony so we could start on time and inside for dinner). There also wasn’t a ton of communication about specifics until a few weeks before. I’m not sure if maybe that’s normal, but I was trying to get things done much in advance. That being said Cheri is very responsive to emails and assisting with the planning leading up to the day of you just may have to message her a few times. The venue is beautiful and I highly recommend it as a venue spot if you want beautiful outdoor ceremony and rustic barn feel.

Cheri was great to work with- talked me down during several phone calls. I did make 2 trips up north but was unable to ‘meet up’ with Cheri until wedding day. My concern was changing the barn from ceremony to reception. But with staff help and lots of family help we did it. I cannot say enough about the gorgeous farm house- it was perfect. We also rented Cedar Creek guesthouse and that worked out great, so close to our venue.
It was a little cold in the barn but end of October in northern Michigan - that can’t be helped. We were very happy and felt all prices were reasonable.

edding venue. There are so many amazing things, but the highlights are: the barn is GORGEOUS and there are so many great decorations included that are available to use. The lights are already hung for you and tables and chairs set up. The house on the property could not be more convenient or beautiful. Photos do not do it justice. It's massive, clean, has every amenity (including a hot tub) and is right there on the property. Don't worry if you forget something, I am sure the house or barn will have extras for you. Lastly, the owners Cheri and Scott are the most wholesome, sweetest, and organized event planners. Do not hesitate to hire Cheri as your day-of-coordinator. She knows that barn, the staff and vendors, and weddings like no one else in the area. She has a plan B and C in the back of her mind and is completely prepared. Our wedding was one of the best days ever and so many of our guests complimented the venue and Cheri specifically. So many things can go wrong on your wedding day and having good people and a well stocked venue can help to avoid bad things from happening!

o share with me. The staff was wonderful in flipping the barn from a ceremony site to a reception site. All of my guests could not have enough nice things to say about how beautiful the site was. All of the decorations on site were available to use which makes things a lot less stressful. I recommend choosing the full weekend package as being able to be there all day Friday was so helpful in getting things organized and decorated the way I wanted. The house onsite is beautiful and we had so much fun getting ready there. Overall, we were very happy with Jordan Valley Barn!

t a different Cheri. I should have known when she “forgot” about our first tour of the location. Throughout the wedding planning it was often near IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of Cheri, or anyone else with the Scheer name. And when I did finally get a response it was pretty vague. And many questions went left unanswered. We used her son and nephew for bartender and DJ services respectively. And they were hard to communicate with as well.
As we approached the day of the rehersal we weren’t greeted by any staff. The benches at the ceremony location were dirty and CAKED with grass. The alter had multiple wasp nests that my brother kindly sprayed for us. The tables and chairs inside the barn were filthy as well. And for the table linens that I was assured would be correct were either dirty or the wrong color. Months of planning turned into panic mode. And when we tried to call Cheri there was no answer. My mother thankfully took it into her own hands and found some extra linens in the decoration room to use. But then was scolded that those were for a wedding the following weekend.
But what about my wedding??? No congratulations from Cheri or her staff. This day that was supposed to be my best day ever, was perfect because I made it that way. Thankfully my family and bridal party were there to help.
I would NEVER recommend anyone to do business with the Scheer’s.

Their ceremony site is outside with a GORGEOUS Jordan Valley background! On my wedding day, it was raining ALLLL MORNING! Cheri and her crew were with us all day... she was sending me pictures of the doppler and encouraging me to choose whatever made me happy but mostly just waiting to see if I would decide to move our ceremony inside so they could get working on reorganizing the barn! When I finally decided I wanted it outside, no matter what, the crew was out there drying benches, lying down plywood (so my dress and guests attire didn't get muddy), and making sure everything was perfect! At 3 oclock, the sun came out and our outside ceremony was perfect! It was the best weather of the entire day!
The venue came with the farm house, which we stayed at Thursday - Sunday! They have put so much work into that property. And put lots of work into every wedding they host! It is the venue I had dreamed about! You will NOT be disappointed if you decide to throw the biggest event of your life at this amazing venue!

e! The venue was gorgeous. Anything I needed that weekend she immediately got it taken care of. Everyone loved the farmhouse on site! My bridesmaids and I stayed there Friday night and my husband and I stayed there Saturday night after the wedding. I highly recommend this venue! We also rented Sunrise Valley Guest cottage for the guys to stay in Friday night. We also used James as our bartender, he took care of everything! We only paid for what was opened! If there’s one thing I’d change, I’d recommend all brides use their Trolley service as well to shuttle their guests. We went with a different company and had nothing but problems(our guests didn’t arrive to our ceremony until 4:55pm and the wedding started at 5!) so if I could change one thing, I would’ve used the trolley service they offered as well! Thank you Cheri for everything! You made our perfect day even more perfect!

We used all of the decorations they provided and just used greenery to decorate. It's such an incredible benefit that they offer. It was an all encompassing package and I am so pleased with everything. The house we stayed in was such a nice additional, the rustic wood of the barn, all of the lanterns and lights were just amazing and incredible. I could go on forever about how beautiful and amazing it was. There was so much setup already that really, all we did was use their centerpieces. Cheri was amazing and gave advice on a few things that we wanted to change (table runners, specific decorations, flowers, etc.)

Cheri was so fantastic and easy to work with!! She was very timely in her responses, thought of all the details that I didn't (literally saved me here - all of the services they offered that I didn't think of, thins that need to be done on the day of, etc.), she was able to walk me through those.
She helped serve on the day of the wedding and I just didn't have to worry about a thing. It was the most stress free and fun day and I know it's because she was working so hard to make it all so perfect and wonderful behind the scenes.

We rented Cedar Creek and Sunrise Valley for our families as well and it was SO convenient and nice that everyone could be so close! Both families loved having a house to stay in over a hotel.
We also hired Julia (MUST) to help in the day of and I cannot sing her praises. Basically I think I have her 3 minor things to do and somehow she (and Cheri!) just made everything happen. I literally did not worry once.... She knew everything that needed to be done and just took care of it. There was a list of (literally) 20+ things that needed to be done and I had not thought of any. I don't know what I would have done without her taking care of everything!!
I would absolutely recommend the barn to anyone - it's gorgeous and the service that Cheri and Scott provide is ABOVE AND BEYOND. They literally have thought of every detail and make he process easy, simple, and stress free!

ful time on our big day and a big part of that was due to the staff at JVB. There are so many moving parts to a wedding and the staff made sure that all of those things were taken care of. We planned an outdoor wedding but of course our big day was the only rainy day in the forecast but Cheri and her husband ensured us that an inside wedding was going to be beautiful and that everything was going to go very smooth and they were so right. Their reassurance put me and my husband at ease and we were able to just enjoy our day. I still have not stopped hearing how beautiful and fun the wedding was from our family. Thank you Jordan Valley Barn and staff. We could have not asked for a better day!
