We looked up photographers in the Poconos area, as we were getting married in Hawley, PA. He was one of the first results we came across, and we immediately fell in love with his style of photography. Beautiful natural colors and nice contrasts, and not overly saturated. So that fit our preference perfectly. But what set him apart, even just based on his photos, was how creative he was with positioning and framing. The majority of his photo's weren't the usual head-on portraits, or group shots, but beautifully framed photos, playing with everything in the environment. One photo that immediately struck me was of the bride climbing stairs, photographed from above her. We immediately contacted him, and he was friendly and professional, explaining his entire process, and giving us plenty of options for how the big day could be organized. Contact was easily established by email and Whatsapp in this case, and we met in person when we were visiting the location, meeting the coordinator there. Besides talking about work, we enjoyed talking with him about travels and photography in general as well. On to the big wedding day: He first visited me and my groomsmen, and we took photo's in the bnb we had in the neighborhood. He was clear with instructions, but also open to suggestions. We had an hour together, and then he visited the bride. She was equally happy with his ideas, but also him going along with one of her ideas. During the ceremony, we didn't even know he was there. He took pictures from all angles, but never did we notice him in the corner of our eye. And after the ceremony, he kept busy, photographing people during cocktail hour and dinner, but also scouting out nice places for shots of me and the bride (especially keeping an eye out for dry moments, as unfortunately it rained most of the day). We got the photo's quite soon, even with the autumn being a very popular (and thus busy) season for weddings in the area. But we were stoked with the results. There were hundreds of pictures, and the vast majority was amazing. We're currently still in the process of designing an album, but there as well, he is very professional and everything is well explained and clearly communicated. We were very happy with Jose. A super friendly guy, with a fantastic eye for lights, colors and framing. We were very comfortable with him around, and we never felt pushed or annoyed. 6/5 stars!

My wife and I cannot say enough fantastic things about Jose. From start to finish, he actively listened to what we wanted for our wedding and captured the day beyond documenting the events. Jose's professionalism and eye for natural aesthetics puts him in a league of his own above the rest. On top of all of this, he made us feel comfortable and we were able to be ourselves. Jose was such a joy to work with. He is kind, easy going, communicative, accommodating, and seriously gifted! He gave incredible direction with every photo he took and hopped on any opportunity for unforgettable, stylistic photos. For example, there was a gorgeous sunset and he made sure to grab my husband and I for photos before that opportunity was missed. We just returned from our wedding weekend and had to leave our review for Jose! He was so easy to work with and made us feel so comfortable. We were able to really be ourselves around him. He was so flexible with us and made it possible to have our welcome BBQ photographed as well. It is such a nice feeling to have a vendor that you can trust which set our minds at ease on our big day! Jose is an amazing photographer! He was very professional and easy to work with. We had him do our engagement photos and our actual wedding. We’re both fairly shy, and he was very good at keeping us relaxed and comfortable. At the wedding Jose brought Carlo in as a second photographer and the two of them worked very well as a team. For both sets of pictures, he got the digital pictures to us very quickly and it goes without saying that they were all great. Jose and Carlo were able to capture all of the excitement and love at our wedding and we’ll cherish the pictures forever. We can’t recommend Jose and Carlo enough!

Jose was great to talk and get to know prior to our big day. Receptive, kind, and helpful. It's nice to have a vendor you know you won't have to worry about. He stayed all day long and captured every photo we wanted and so many more. His angles and lighting make each picture unique. You can also tell that he enjoys what he does and loves being around the bride and groom having fun. there are truly no words to describe just how amazing jose is! choosing him to be our photographer was easily one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day. i’m probably the least photogenic person in the world and yet jose was still able to capture such BEAUTIFUL images. our wedding day went by so INCREDIBLY fast and i was afraid i was gonna miss seeing all the little details of the day..well thank god jose and his partner michelle were there to capture EVERY SINGLE LITTLE DETAIL..i can’t thank them both enough for making our day so special and so perfect. i have absolutely not one single complaint about either of them! i most definitely will be recommending them to everyone i talk to! engagement shoot ✔️ wedding✔️ next up will be a maternity shoot with them hopefully sometime soon! 🤞👶

Jose has a unique and artistic eye that I found to be much different than modern-day, mainstream wedding photos. His pieces are purely magical and each one tells an in-depth story; they are not just simply captured moments. My now husband and I are both literary professionals, so we were seeking a photographer with a more sensual and profound way of telling a couple's story and Jose exceeded our expectations! In addition to his incredible talent, he is patient, kind, and SO MUCH FUN to work with! We began our journey with him in 2019 pre-pandemic, and throughout all the trials and tribulations, he was with us every step of the way. I warned him that I greatly dislike getting my picture taken because I tend to be either overly animated or I try too hard to smile/pose, but he knows exactly how to make you comfortable for natural shots. His assistant, Carlo, was an absolute angel and commits 110% to get the shot (he is not afraid to hide in bushes for perfection!). After working with Jose, we will not only recommend him to all friends and family, but we only plan to work with him on any future celebrations!

Jose photographed our wedding on July 9th, 2021. Throughout the day he captured some amazing moments. He gave great direction while photographing me and my husband and we are both so happy with his final product. I would highly recommend him.

OUR BEAUTIFUL ENGAGEMENT SESSION <3 Jose's visit to Portugal was the perfect opportunity for us to book him for an engagement session. He has an amazing eye and was able to capture the fun and playful moments of this day. His ability to find the perfect lighting and angle made this experience even more memorable. At times we would even forget he was there because he would just let us be and do our own thing naturally. Throughout the session he'd give us a few pointers and the day turned out to be very pleasant and relaxing. The shoot took place in the majestic surroundings of the Buçaco Palace in Portugal, followed by Praia de Mira. There just aren't enough words to possibly describe how stunning each photo turned out and the quality that Jose's work provides. I would highly recommend him to family, friends and business associates as we were so please with our session and final photographs. If you are lucky enough to have him be at your special day, don't think twice! Thank you so much for this special day in Portugal.

First off, look no further; you have found a precious gem lost in the depths of the earth. Jose Almeida is genuinely one of a kind. He is not just someone who takes pictures; anyone can do that. Jose is an artist. He knows about angles, lights, and other things the normal eye would not catch. I came across him by chance scoping for a photographer. When I l reviewed hundreds of overpriced and mediocre photography, I stumbled upon him. His pictures impressed my husband, so we took a chance with him. I am glad I did. He is a very kind soul, understanding, and gives you what you ask for and more. I felt extremely comfortable working with him, and he was hilarious and personable. I truly hope we meet again! If you want in-the-moment pictures, he will provide you with that, but if you wish to have a director and someone to tell you what to do, pose, and capture the best sides of you, he is a master at that. He saw pictures in the most random scenarios. Jose also kept a very well and genuinely thought-out schedule that kept us on track. We were never late doing anything with him, and it made our wedding go by so smoothly. He captured so many moments that I didn't even notice, and I am eternally grateful for him. He also gave us our photos in a uniquely timely manner. Please do yourself a favor and look no further. Take a chance with Jose. You will not be disappointed.

As someone who is not photogenic, please take my advice when it comes to a photographer and hire Jose! He made someone who hates photos really look forward to seeing how they turned out. The results extremely lived up to the expectations as every photo he sent to us was wonderful. He made my husband and I look absolutely brilliant not only in our engagement photos but in everything related to our wedding! Not only are the photos breathtaking, but the process he has in place makes the day of and every part of the photography process 10 times easier! We knew everything that was happening at all times as the communication he had with us was stellar. Even when things were out of our control delayed because of a pandemic, Jose was the one to spearhead and improvise to keep us on track! Not only will you love everything about Jose, but all of your friends and family will as well! If you still don't believe me and are still considering someone else, I will leave you with this. Jose is so good that the maid of honor and her now fiance hired Jose to do their proposal shoot and yes those photos look wonderful as well! We are absolutely in love with the photos Jose took for our engagement session and our wedding. We had never taken photos with a professional photographer before our engagement session, and Jose made sure we were comfortable with the process and having fun the whole time. He even took a few photos of us with our crazy dogs :) We are so thankful that Jose was there for our special day. Having Jose as our COVID micro-wedding photographer was an amazing experience. From the first contact, he was responsive, organized, and professional. He made sure to understand exactly what we were looking for, and he was easy to communicate with via text, phone, and email. On the day of our wedding, he and his assistant Nadine arrived in advance to explore our venue, an old stone-façade manor, and to plan out some shots. During the wedding preparations, Jose and Nadine were friendly and flexible, easily switching up their photography schedule when we needed to adjust the day’s timeline. After the ceremony, Jose and Nadine took a variety of group shots of our guests, then some shots of me and my husband during our sunset photo shoot. I loved how Jose and Nadine photographed me and my husband at a variety of different places at our venue, with a good mix of natural-feeling poses and candids, all caught in the evening’s golden glow. We only had to wait a few days to receive a sneak peek of the photos, and Jose absolutely delivered. The photos were creative, romantic, and dramatic – exactly what we were looking for. It took less than two weeks for Jose to provide us (via both mailed USB and online gallery) with the rest of the photos. He really captured the feel of our wedding and gave us some unique and breathtaking images that we get to treasure for the rest of our lives. Jose is a true artist and anybody would be lucky to snatch him up for their own wedding.

Jose was amazing. I was totally nervous and stressed out for my proposal. Keeping it a secret was priority! Jose was really easy to speak to, listened well, took perfect instructions and made great suggestions. He lent a helping hand in preparation and was undetectable during the shoot! Where do I even begin! When it came time to pick a photographer for our wedding I was extremely overwhelmed! There were so many choices and I honestly did not know where to begin. I started researching online and thanks to many great reviews I reached out to Jose. From the very first phone call my fiancee and I had with Jose we knew he was exactly who we were looking for. He listened to all of our concerns and was very connectable! We hired him right after our first call! We live in Bensalem and our wedding was in the Poconos so we had to meet essentially via phone most of the time. This was never a problem! We had so many amazing phone calls with Jose who continued to reassure us and answer all of our questions. Jose was so quick to reply via text as well with any questions we had. About a month out Jose took time to personally meet us on the weekend at our venue to discuss things in person. To say that he goes above and beyond for his clients is an understatement. There truly are no words to describe him! On the day of the wedding he showed up and the room became even more excited as we knew some of the moments we were sharing getting ready were going to start getting captured! Everyone including my guest praised Jose and Shawn (his partner photographer). It was like he was everywhere at one time but was never in the way. I felt so comfortable with him and so did my entire bridal party. He stayed the entire night and captured the most incredible moments. His artistic eye is truly wonderful. After the wedding the communication did not stop, he continued to answer questions and worked so hard to get us our first look at the pictures quickly which is amazing considering we got married in prime wedding season. HIS WORK IS BEAUTIFUL! My husband and I could not believe the quality and care he took in every little detail including a personal handwritten letter thanking both of us for letting him photograph our day. It is us however that should be saying thank you to Jose for his incredible work and the moments that he captured for us. My husband and I both feel that we made a friend in Jose and he is someone that we will never forget! We already are talking to him about a maternity shoot when we become pregnant. I recommend Jose to anyone and everyone who would ask, I feel so blessed to have had him for my wedding day!

Best decision we ever made. What an awesome experience from start to finish. Jose is such a great guy, and an absolute professional. Jose was THE BEST!! Our friends and family are still talking about how beautiful our photos were almost two months later. We had so many good ones that it's been really tough narrowing it down to a small enough number to share/print. From our engagement photos in a state park to our wedding in a planetarium, his shots were beautiful with a dramatic flair. We got a ton of different fun shots and double exposures, absolutely gorgeous portraits, and the family photos and candids were great. Throughout the whole process, Jose was professional, friendly, and very easygoing. He was on-time, responded quickly, and delivered photos well above my expectations (for a very reasonable price!). The photos were delivered in a nice memento box with a handwritten note - a nice touch. We can't recommend him enough!

I would highly recommend Jose. I was a very shy bride but he made taking so many pictures easy. We had a 200 person wedding, and we have pictures of everyone. I also wanted a lot of candid pictures and we got a lot. We had over 1500 pictures ranging from the candid to the staged photos and all came out amazing! I would recommend him to all my friends and family.

I have to say my now husband was resistant when it came to choosing a photographer as he is NOT a photo person, hates posing. When seeing family and friends photos and the poses they made during their wedding it made him even more skeptical. I came across Jose and I fell in love with his portfolio not only because of the artistic quality of his pictures but that he seemed to capture more moments rather than forcing poses, and that he did! Every aspect of my wedding was captured in his photos as candid shots, which we loved! My husband and I could not have more pleased with our photos and Jose in general. He took time to search around our venue to find the perfect place to take pictures of us allowing us to leave our reception for a short duration to capture individual photos and even the photos he did take of us posing were elegant, classy, and timeless. For my husband to be impressed and love our photos speaks volumes to the work Jose will bring to your wedding. Even the gift box he gave us with all our photos was a symbol of the quality and time he gives to his clients. I would recommend him for all my functions. We are not engagement photo people either and now he is using that portion of our wedding package to take photos of our new addition to our family, our daughter. He is amazing and professional!

Jose was amazing prior to and the day of our wedding. We wanted a first look so that we did not have to miss our cocktail hour. He was accommodating to this with a detailed timeline to make sure that he took every shot we wanted prior to the start of the ceremony. Throughout our wedding he was in the background capturing the night. He was right there for all of the important moments throughout. He was also very accommodating to any requests for pictures throughout the night. We thank Jose for capturing our special moments throughout our wedding.

We asked Jose to just have fun and capture events as they happened without really posing. That's what he did and the results were nothing less than perfect.

Let's start by saying stop searching for a photographer...Jose is the one! We hired Jose for our small, intimate wedding. Before meeting Jose we saw his work on Instagram and on wedding sites. Working with Jose was a wonderful from start to finish. We used Jose for our engagement photos and our wedding photos. His prices are very fair and his turnaround was very fast! He is very down to earth and really made an effort to understand us and what we wanted out of our photos. It takes a lot to trust someone to shoot your big day, but Jose is worth of that trust.

I am not just writing this review because I should. I am writing this review because it is well deserved. Jose, let's face it, is amazing! He is punctual, professional and listens to exactly what your vision is and captures it times 10! Our joke about Jose was you wont see him during your wedding because hes too busy hiding in a bush to capture "the" moment. You wont just have regular posey pictures you will have your moments captured. Jose felt like he was apart of our family and he honestly was the last person I had to worry about on a day that could be so stressful. From our first meeting, Jose made us feel comfortable both with him as a person and his professional abilities. When we met for our engagement photo shoot, Jose went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying ourselves while he captured the essence of our relationship. When we started looking for a photographer for our wedding we looked at a bunch of different websites to check out some of their work. We immediately fell in love with Jose’s style and knew he was the person we wanted to document our wedding day. Our phone conversations leading up to the big day were great. Jose made us feel very comfortable as we discussed all the details. We live in NC and our wedding was in PA so we met with him a few months before the wedding on location to go over timelines, shot locations, etc. He made sure that he knew exactly what pictures we wanted and what we were looking for. The day of the wedding Jose and his second photographer Jerry were everywhere capturing things we would never have even thought of. We even went offsite with our bridal party to take some shots. He kept us on schedule, and got some great shots that we will treasure for the rest of our lives. His photos are magical and we could not be more pleased with our decision to use JCA Photography. Jose has an incredible talent, and did an amazing job at our wedding this past April. We found him online and he was quick to respond, communicated clearly, and was very receptive to our requests and ideas. His photographs are amazing, and my wife and I couldn't be happier for all his help before and during our wedding. He used the landscape to frame beautiful shots, even in the wind and rain of the Poconos, and provided us a very nice mix of light and dark, black & white and color, and serious and funny photos from our big day. He got some great ones of our dog, too. Even when he had a family emergency pop up that potentially conflicted with our wedding date he went out of his way to arrange another local photographer as a stand-in, just in case he wasn't able to make it. He did make it, and we are so grateful for the time and effort he put in. I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

Jose is a very pleasant person and laid back, which was especially important during all the stress of the wedding day. He has the ability to make you feel comfortable, which makes being photographed a lot more natural and fun. When my wife and I first met him, we were impressed with his attention to detail; our wedding ceremony was different than the norm, but Jose took time to look up details about the wedding service and talked with us to have a thorough understanding of how the day would go. Jose provides shot request lists which made it easy for both him and us to be on the same page in terms of what photos we really wanted to get. Jose was quick to respond via text or email and was willing to work around our schedules to do multiple pre-wedding meetings. Jose possesses a strong desire to have everything done right, and he is willing to go the extra mile to make sure you get the photographs you want. As a photographer, we were drawn to several aspects of his style. He isn't intrusive when taking pictures, but also does not hesitate to grab your attention if he sees a good shot to take. Another thing we liked about Jose is that he doesn't shy away from indoor shots. Many of the photographers we met were reluctant to work with some of our indoor requests; considering that most of the wedding service and reception were inside a building, it was very important to us to find a photographer who could take good indoor photos. Jose was up to the challenge and produced many wonderful pictures without the need for natural outdoor light. Our outdoor pictures were fantastic too, but keep in mind that you need a photographer who can shoot any moment...and that's Jose. Another aspect of his style we enjoyed was Jose's eye for catching candid moments. He is good at spotting the beauty of a smile, a laugh, a tear...moments that just can't be posed. To sum up: from a professional standpoint, Jose is easy to work with but also provides good structure if you need direction. Regardless of location, Jose is able to find beauty in many ways, whether you're in a beautiful location outside or very sweaty from dancing all night at the reception. My wife and I highly recommend the services Jose offers.
