I can't say enough about the power photographer couple, Joe and Monique Hummel. Both are an absolute pleasure to work with and go above and beyond my expectations of a phenomenal photographer. Not only did they help us pick out our engagement shoot site (we couldn't make up our minds) but they scouted out scenery options on their own time to ensure they knew where the best locations were. The day of the shoot was so much fun. Joe and Monique made us feel so comfortable and Joe's eye for creativity is unmatched. He saw spots that looked ordinary and took extraordinary photos. Joseph Hummel made our wedding magical, and correct, not just our photos, but our wedding was flawless with so much help from him and Monique. My wife and I are from a little place called Austin, TX. When we decided to make the Tahoe wedding happen the obvious set in... "so how do we do it, from Texas?" We read just about every review you can and came across Joe. Joe FaceTimes with us, spending time getting to know us before we even begin talking photos. He sends us updates on the wedding sites, contacts and plans with our crew, and was an absolute pleasure to work with. He even played tour guide and bartender when we visited. The first time we visit Tahoe to finalize plans, he acts as the perfect liaison between us and the resort. He recommends vendors for hair, make up, officiants, Djs and we used every single reccomendation, all incredible at what they do. We leave Tahoe knowing we are in good hands. Week of the wedding comes and Joe is practically family, creating a chemistry with our family and friends that is unsurpassed. He. Captured. Us. Perfectly. Our small group was captured in impeccable pictures, focusing on each moments charisma and significance. The beauty of Tahoe in the pictures was almost second to the natural character/characters of each photo. The engagement photos, the rehersal, the first look, the ceremony, dinner, reception, speeches, cigars and two steps, all masterfully captured in a way that puts us back in Tahoe with each photo we revisit. Seriously Joe, Thank You. Our first print ordered now sits on the wall in our living room, it's a piece that draws conversations and compliments from every guest we have over. My wife and I could not recommend any person more than Joseph Hummel. He is a phenomenal photographer, an incredible person and a true artist. Joseph and his wife were awsome!! They went way beyond just being a photographer at our sons wedding in Lake Tahoe. We cherish the memories and the photos were Fantastic. Absolutely recommend them.

Joe took group pictures of four rambunctious children ages 8, 4, 3 and 1 1/2. He managed to get MANY stunning pictures, some posed and some candid! I was very impressed because the kids were wild to say the least. There are so many great shots to choose from. Narrowing down to a few favorites will be a challenge. Not a bad predicament!

Working with Joe and Monique has been a pleasure. We had engagement pictures done in San Francisco and Tahoe, and our wedding at Winter's Creek Lodge (Mt Rose). They all turned out truly amazing. We got the posed pretty pictures that everyone wants and needs, but also the kind of pictures that you would hang on your wall, even if they didn't have us in them. It's easy to relax and get those genuine pictures with Joe and Monique. The amount of work and thought they put into your wedding is above and beyond. Scouting locations before hand, doing a goofy nerdy photo shop for one of your pictures (I honestly thought we'd get turned down, but Joe was excited to do it), and top notch professionalism. You won't go wrong with this fantastic couple covering your most precious moments.

Before hiring Joe for our wedding on October 23rd, 2016, I had worked with him at a wedding the previous year. I was lucky in being able to see him work from a wedding coordinator's point of view before I saw him from a bride's point of view. The minute I saw his photos in 2015 (just on his camera's display screen) I knew that I wanted Joe and Monique to photograph my future wedding (and I wasn't even engaged yet!). Flash forward to February 2016, I was finally engaged and my first choice was Joe. The absolute selling point was how amazingly well Joe and Monique got along with my now husband and I. Hiring Joseph Hummel Photography was, by far, one of the EASIEST decisions while planning our wedding. We chose quality over quantity and it worked out in our favor. He is worth every penny, and made both of us feel extremely comfortable and like we were his only clients. Not once did he use the words "I'm too busy at the moment" which I have heard several other photographers say. Joe and Monique went ABOVE and BEYOND all of our expectations of wedding photographers and that didn't change at any point leading up to and during the wedding. We got married at Winter's Creek at Mt. Rose, and Joe took the natural beauty of the lodge and the view into consideration with every photo that he took. These two very special and talented people truly care about you and your day. They care so much, in fact, that they met with us several times before the wedding - once to walk our wedding site at Sugarbowl Ski Resort and meet with the wedding coordinator, once to do a "warm up" photography session in our home town, and once to do a family photo session with my daughters. They truly went the extra mile to make sure we felt really comfortable and knew them well before the wedding. Joe and Monique really "got" us because they took the time to get to know us. They managed to get so many beautiful photos without us even realizing it - so the photography did not feel like a chore. I just received the wedding album and it is perfect! From our first meeting, we knew Joe was the photographer for us. At the end of the meeting it felt like we'd been friends for years and my bride to be felt the same way. That feeling paid off again and again as Joe delivered an extremely high quality product from amazing engagement photos, to a wonderful guestbook, to perfect photos from our wedding day. Joe was able to capture such wonderful candid photos, it never felt like we were being photographed. The engagement photos were OUTSTANDING. We've gotten so many comments from friends and family on how great the photos turned out. Friends that have been a part of many weddings commented on how they thought we got the “best photographer in the biz.” Not only did he get along really well with all the groomsmen and bridesmaids, he made everyone feel comfortable and delivered outstanding photos. He even helped us catch our running away dogs during the engagement photos! His turnaround time was insanely fast and we had our photos as soon as we got back from the honeymoon! He also put together a touching slide show to be played at dinner with photos from getting ready, the ceremony and the cocktail hour! We felt extremely comfortable with him throughout the entire process. I have worked as a wedding photographer assistant with a friend of mine and I know first hand how much work this is. Joe and Monique work very hard to make sure you have the perfect day and have great photos. We could not have asked for more. Even when my mother has contacted him with help ordering photos he was so nice and extremely helpful. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. We got married at Taber Ranch on August 20th, 2016. Joe and Monique are friendly and fun. They become part of the party. Joe took our ideas and put a creative spin on it which showed in our photos. I would highly recommend them.

I relied so much the day of the wedding in the both of them and they were always there. Monique always made sure my hair and make up was ok and that I always had water because it was so hot. Joe was very good and finding awesome shots and reminding me how to stand so that I look great in the photos. These two work so well together it's amazing. I loved every moment of doing our photos and was so excited to see them. I love every single photo that they each took so much! They made my day so memorable, fun and enjoyable. I was so glad that they took photos that I would have never thought of taking. I also loved when I told him an idea that I had not only did he make it happen, he made it better then I had imagined it. I would highly recommend Joseph Hummel to everyone I know. We got the amazing gift of having him do both our engagement photos and our wedding. My favorite photos of my husband and myself are ones that he took. He makes you laugh and feel comfortable. I cannot wait to find reasons to do more photo sessions with him.

Joe did our engagement and wedding pictures, and they came out absolutely beautiful. We had a very traditional Pakistani wedding and Joe showed up with all of his research done and knew about all the traditions! He did such an incredible job at capturing the meaning behind each ritual. Both Joe and his wife were so open to understanding our culture and traditions - we couldn't have asked for more from them! He is very professional and has a way of making even the shyest of people feel at ease. My husband is very uncomfortable in front of a camera, but Joe talked to us and joked with us throughout the entire sessions resulting in very natural pictures. I would hire him again in a heartbeat and have recommended him to all our family and friends.

I searched all over to find a photographer that truly connected with me and my husband and understood that we wanted unique photos that we would love to share with our friends and family. Joe was truly amazing. He caught details of our wedding we had completly forgotten about and were so excited to see had been captured. I still can't believe how he managed to really "get" us and our personalities really shine in the photos. I couldnt be happier with how our photos turned out.
