About this vendor
Journeyman Distillery is a spirits distillery and wedding venue in Valparaiso, IN. This stylish space, known as The American Factory, has been artfully reimagined from its former role as a leading manufacturing center into a modern, well-appointed venue with just the right amount of industrial, rustic charm. The dedicated event teams here invite you to host an unforgettable wedding celebration in a setting as iconic as your love story.
The American Factory space dates back to the 1800s, with many original historic features still on display, such as industrial beams and handcrafted large windows. The art of creating high-quality products has never entirely left the building as today, Journeyman's artisan whiskey, gin, vodka, and rum are all distilled there. With a massive 140,000 square feet of open event space and a guest capacity of 25-1200, whether you are planning an intimate get-together or a lavish reception, The American Factory can accommodate it. The Tower Garden, nestled beside the main factory building, is a serene outdoor area surrounded by blooming wildflowers, ideal for an al fresco ceremony or cocktail hour. Afterward, The West and East Rooms await you for a glamorous reception that fuses classic and modern with plenty of panoramic views to admire.
The West and East Rooms are both expansive, minimally-decorated spaces that can effortlessly complement any wedding theme or color scheme. Journeyman Distillery's culinary team would be honored to design a customized food and drinks menu full of local flavors and fine ingredients for your event. If you are looking for a wedding venue with accommodation options, The American Factory's twin venue, The Featherstone Factory in Three Oaks, MI, might just be your perfect match. Wherever you decide to say 'I do,' you can be assured of an outstanding experience at Journeyman Distillery's venues. The team invites you to contact them today to plan your perfect day.

We had Xavier and Kaley for our wedding at Journeyman in November, and they were absolutely incredible to work with. From start to finish, they made the entire experience feel effo...
rtless. Their communication was clear, their energy was warm and positive, and they truly went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Everyone loved the food—it was delicious and beautifully presented! The servers were so nice too!! At one point, we realized we needed to add an extra table, and Xavier and Kaley were so accommodating. They made it completely seamless and just made it happen, which took such a weight off our shoulders.
You can tell they genuinely care about the couples they work with. They anticipated needs before we even said them out loud, kept everything organized behind the scenes, and made us feel supported and relaxed the entire day. Our guests even commented on how kind and professional they were.
Xavier and Kaley played such a big part in making our day unforgettable, and we couldn’t be more grateful. If you’re getting married at Journeyman, ask for them—you will be in the absolute best hands.
The night of our wedding was absolutely wonderful, but leading up to it was a bit unorganized. The tasting was a group tasting with other couples, and it had started earlier than o...
ur invitation said; this resulted in them running out of some food options and us not being able to taste all that was offered. We heard this happened to another couple that arrived on time, as well. The day of the wedding, we realized the venue forgot one of our guest tables! Due to this, we had to wait for them to check their documents and find our missing table. This made our set-up time take longer and more stressful than we had hoped. We were also upset that our parents' table (table 1) received their dinners much later than other tables with no explanation.
However, the wedding itself was great. We were in the larger room and it was lovely having the sweetheart table in front of the patio doors so we could have a nice breeze. Our guests were also raving about the food! We had the salmon, chicken, and filet mignon; all were delicious. The filet mignon was worth the up-charge in our opinion. We were upset that tequila was only offered at the downstairs bar, but all the drinks and bartenders were great and very kind. Our guests also enjoyed the firepits outside! They were perfect for an October night.
We absolutely loved having our wedding at Journeyman! We’ve always enjoyed visiting over the years, and every staff member we met during planning and on our wedding day was kind, w...
elcoming, and professional.
We rented both the East & West Rooms, the rooftop, and the East bridal suite, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Our rooftop ceremony flowed beautifully into the cocktail hour in the West Room, followed by our reception in the East Room — having our full day in one location made everything seamless.
The staff handled everything so well, from venue coordination to bartenders to servers, and our guests kept complimenting the venue. Journeyman was truly the foundation of our day and helped make it incredible. We would choose them a million times over!
My husband and I held our wedding reception at Journeyman Distillery on September 6, 2025, and while we truly enjoyed our wedding there were several major issues with the service t...
hat fell below our expectations.
Cocktail Hour Issues: Our cocktail hour was in the Distillery Room floor which we booked in addition to our Rehearsal space for an added cost. Upon arrival, the room was almost 90 degrees. We were supposed to have two bars - one that was a full service bar set-up and another bar serving beer. Only one bar was set-up offering only signature cocktails - not the beer, wine or spirits that were part of our full package. Unfortunately the lines were so long our guests went into the restaurant to purchase drinks. Also guests told us that garbage was left overflowing on the barrels we purchased for guests to use as tables.
Dinner service errors: Many guests did not receive their salads, requiring them to search for staff. Water glasses remained empty, and dirty salad plates were not cleared for 20+ minutes. Our wedding coordinator eventually started busing tables herself to clear plates due to the slow service. She noted that while she was working hard to clear tables, she observed staff hanging out in the kitchen, commenting on how hard she was working during dinner while they remained in the back.
Bathroom & Bar Service: Our guests told us the bathrooms were incredibly dirty and seemed to not be cleaned all night. We had guests tell us they told staff about this and even when we returned the next day to get our wedding cake the bathrooms were gross. Unfortunately bar service remained slow and inconsistent after dinner with our coordinator helping to open wine and serve and more of our guests going downstairs to purchase drinks because of the line.
Overall, The Journeyman space was beautiful and we had such an amazing time with our family and friends. Kaley at Journeyman was a pleasure to work with. The food was also very good during our cocktail hair and dinner.
After we booked our wedding it was determined this was the same day as Popcorn Fest in Valparaiso. We consistently communicated our concerns about Popcorn Fest as we knew it could impact our event based on parking lots being rented out by the city and the amount of people traffic Journeyman would be receiving. We were disappointed to learn less than two weeks before our wedding that Journeyman was also hosting a concert and bourbon tasting in the courtyard, right outside our cocktail hour space. We are unsure if the addition of this event and Popcorn Fest contributed to the staffing and service issues we experienced however we thought it was important to note the issues we experienced for those who have booked or plan to book with Journeyman on their special day.
Before my now husband and I were even engaged we scoped out journeyman as a potential wedding venue at their Valparaiso location. My husband and I are Valparaiso University alumni ...
and it was where our love story began and from the moment we went to dinner at Journeyman I knew it HAD to be the spot for our reception. The process could not have been easier thanks to our coordinator at journeyman, Kaley! We cannot thank her and the Journeyman team for making our wedding PERFECT. we are HUGE foodies and have been to plenty of weddings where the food disappoints, but here it was FANTASTIC. so many of our guests also said it was the best wedding food they have ever had! The bar, of course, was incredible. The venue itself was perfect. We were able to utilize the rooftop patio and everyone loved it. If you are having a Valparaiso wedding there’s no doubt this is the spot you want!
The team at journeyman was phenomenal to work with & truly were attentive at making our wedding day flow so smoothly! Couldn’t have chosen a better venue - great food, drinks, uniq...

We had a wonderful wedding at Journeyman in Valparaiso, IN. The East room space was beautifully decorated and was exactly what we wanted for our big day! Lenore and the team were e...
xtremely helpful throughout the process, ensuring our vision was brought to life. We received many compliments on the food, drinks and overall space.
As a newer property Journeyman is growing into a popular spot and creating a brand for themselves similar to their Michigan location. Patience, communication and flexibility went both ways and at the end of the night - we couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day. Thank you!
