My husband married in September. We're a sort of off-beat couple, & didn't want just ANY photographer for our wedding. We wanted to hire someone who would capture the real us, in all of our awkward glory. So it was no surprise that I came acro...ss JPG at an off-beat wedding expo - the Lovesick Expo.
JPG was actually the last photography booths I stopped at after drudging through countless other samples from other photographers, unimpressed by what I'd seen & searching for someone who wasn't afraid to take risks to ensure we got what WE wanted out of our photos. What initially grabbed my attention was a video that was playing at their booth. I was adamantly against having a wedding video. There was no way that I, my husband or any of my friends were going to sit through a 5 hour wedding video - EVER. So when I saw what they did with the highlight video, I knew I wanted one. It was the perfect synopsis of our monumental day. We called later that week to book them.
When booking JPG, we initially dealt with the owner Joe, who asked us (what we thought at the time) was a lot of unnecessary information, in the form of a lengthy questionnaire. But we filled it out as requested and during our next conversation, realized that Joe, through this process, had matched us with our ideal photographer - Dave. Dave loves pizza and beer - how could you NOT love Dave back?
From then on, we dealt with Dave. We talked back and forth about the style we wanted, who we were, likes & dislikes.. yadda yadda yadda. When it came time to do our engagement shoot (which I was also very against doing, but it was included in our package so, what the heck!), we knew we wanted to do something different. We chose to take our photos at two locations in Philly: Yards brewery & Paines Skatepark. Dave was ON BOARD from the very start - loved our ideas, was pumped to start shooting. He set everything up.
Dave was just the right level of pushy when it came to getting the shots we wanted at both locations. He persuaded the Manager at Yards to allow us to shoot in the brewery after tours had ended, without a guide. When we arrived at Paines, he persuaded several skateboarders to assist in our photos by skating around us and doing various tricks. It was awesome.
When it came to our wedding day - we were equally impressed. The crew showed up three people deep (Dave, Ashley & Laura). Dave stayed with me while I got ready and Laura stayed with my husband, while the videographer Ashley split her time between the two of us.
Everyone was SO comfortable with them around, and they just fit in with us so well it felt as if they were just a part of our crew. They were EVERYWHERE throughout the day - getting every possible angle on every single shot. I had guests tell me how wonderful they were because they were all over the place! They were amazing.
When we got our photos & video back (sooner than expected I might add), we were blown away. They captured every bit of us flawlessly. The video though, was my favorite part. It was beyond anything we had expected. It captured the best parts of our day.
We knew what we wanted when searching for a photographer. We got exactly that with JPG!! Dave, Laura & Ashley - you guys are amazing!!!!
