Meet Judge Morris Estate, a new wedding venue coming to White Clay Creek State Park in Spring 2027. Blending the romance of a historic countryside estate with thoughtful contemporary design, Judge Morris Estate brings a fresh perspective to its centuries-old setting. A stone house presides over acres of lawn and gardens, with 3,600 acres of parkland extending beyond. Among the grounds, the preserved walls of a former barn are becoming one of the property’s most distinctive spaces.
A glass Solarium will be constructed within the original ruins, creating a reception space for up to 275 guests. The stonework will frame the room, while walls of glass open to sweeping views across the fields and woodland. It’s an old-meets-new approach that gives Judge Morris its own point of view, balancing the romance of what has been here for generations with a celebration space designed for today.
The wedding day unfolds across the property, beginning with two distinct suites inside the house for getting ready. Guests gather on the expansive Chestnut Hill lawn for the ceremony, with Emma’s Pond in the distance and acres of open countryside all around. After the vows, cocktail hour flows through the dining room and parlor and onto the front and back brick patios before everyone gathers in the Solarium for dinner and dancing.
Judge Morris Estate is operated by Jeffrey A. Miller Hospitality Group in partnership with Delaware State Parks, bringing full-service catering and event planning to the property. Through that partnership, a portion of every venue rental goes back to Delaware State Parks, helping preserve the landscapes, historic places and natural spaces that make Judge Morris such a remarkable place to celebrate.

Good trail for walking or bikes. Any time of the year is good to come to this place!

Lovely estate, several acres, 1930s style home that is used for events, nice pond with fishing. Stone foundation of two outbuildings remain. Great walk in the woods or around the house.

Beautiful, hidden gem in Newark. For years, I've passed and admired the estate and had no idea how to enter or that it was part of White Clay Creek. We recently had a photoshoot here, and it's such a lovely area that is pretty private for a “pu...
blic” park. We did have an issue with parking where a State Trooper wrote us a warning citation. When you pay to park, make sure you put your voucher on your dash (not back in your wallet). Thankfully, the State Trooper was kind, and it was just a warning.

Stunning pollinator garden in the summer and gorgeous trails all through the woods! There is a very active invasive removal volunteer group here so you can actually get to see what the natural forest and all its gorgeous ephemerals look like be...
fore these invaders took over. They meet Thursday mornings at 10 AM and Sundays 1-3pm no experience necessary. Just an interest in learning more about stewing our natural lands, and getting rid of invasive species.

The Judge Morris house is beautiful, but the grounds around it are particularly pretty. Everything is fairly well maintained and I saw a lot of wonderful wildlife. The are benches to rest on near the lake so you can enjoy the view.

Peaceful place to take a walking through the woods, going fishing at the pond, get family photos done, or just sit and read under a tree

2-3 mile walking and biking trail that connects to the rest of White Clay. Foraged some wild blackberries in the meadow at the start of the trail.
