After checking out her work and picking up on her ability to document the complex and emotional nature of a wedding day with such ease and clarity, I knew I had to contact her to secure our date and plan an engagement shoot. Once we chatted over Zoom and got to know each other a little better, I knew it was a match made in heaven. Also, as a New Haven, CT couple choosing to plan our day at Reading Farms Estate near Woodstock, VT, Julia was also the perfect photographer for our unique situation since she is well connected to both states. This allowed us to book an engagement shoot with her at Harkness Memorial State Park, closer to home, while also looking forward to our big day up in VT. And the engagement shoot was the perfect way to get to know Julia even more. She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, guided us when we needed it and helped us have fun throughout the whole process. The experience showed us that we could just be ourselves and Julia would be able to pull out the beauty within our moments in front of the camera in a non-invasive and authentic nature. It made Krystian and I feel 1000% confident that we chose the perfect person to document our wedding day. Around this time, we also began the process of planning our timeline for the big day. Julia's help in planning was crucial and her guidance made understanding the flow of our day a breeze. After our call with her about timeline details, Krystian and I let out a big sigh of relief, feeling like things came into focus and we had a handle on it all. With divorces and second marriages on both sides it could have been an awkward dynamic, but Julia seamlessly brought everyone together for the formal family shots and understood exactly how to control the vibe and keep things moving. She also planned a perfect timeline so that there was no rush or stress, and she made me feel so cared for on the day of the wedding- she even made me tea and attached Andrew’s boutonnière! Our whole wedding party loved being photographed by her. She made everything fun and comfortable and made us feel beautiful. This is someone you want with you on your wedding day. And that’s before even mentioning the GORGEOUS photos !! We got our previews within just a few days and holy cow are they incredible. Everyone I’ve shown says it looks like a brides magazine shoot. And on top of being unbelievably beautiful, you can see the love in the pictures. The emotion of the day just shines through. Nothing looks stiff or posed or fake at all. Each memorable moment was captured, and many more that we didn’t recall. Reliving the day through these special images has been my favorite activity since the wedding. Aesthetics and small details were my number one priority for the wedding and she captured it all. Julia approaches her work incredibly intentionally, tells your story as you'd want it told, and is a steady presence throughout the process. Not only are her images breathtaking, but she brings a wealth of experience and perspective to your whole wedding planning process - not just the photos. Once you meet her, you'll know. We started working with Julia in early 2020, with a wedding planned for October 2020. We pushed our original 2020 wedding out a year due to the pandemic, but decided to secretly elope. We would not have wanted to do our elopement without Julia. She guided us, supported us, and was the ultimate confidant. Our elopement was truly just the two of us, an officiant, an event manager from the venue, and Julia. Our comfort with each other and her is a testament to the relationship-building Julia does with her clients. We felt taken care of and like we had clear direction throughout our day. The photos she took captured exactly how our day felt, and we revisit them frequently because they feel like actual memories. Additionally, we asked her to keep our secret for an entire year! She was incredibly respectful of this, and was just as excited as we were to reveal to our guests in 2021. In 2021, we worked with Julia again, of course! Our wedding was small and intimate, with about 23 people. Julia is able to capture the energy of a small wedding and make it feel larger than life. When Julia showed up to start her work with us on the day of our wedding, I immediately felt calmer and more confident. Julia isn't just good energy - she is a thorough planner, has structured check-in points leading up to your day, and shows up ready to go. She also has a strong network of other vendors she can suggest for you based on your wedding goals. This was invaluable. As if we needed further affirmation, many of our guests during and after our wedding have complimented us on the photos Julia took, as well as their experience engaging with her during our wedding. For my spouse and I, we knew photography was one of our main priorities, so working with the right person was paramount. We would recommend Julia for any couple looking to have their wedding photos tell a story, as well as actually enjoy the process. Julia reminded us many times that the process of getting married should be joyful, and we can't thank her enough for all the ways she supported us. We had an almost 2-year vendor relationship with Julia, and it couldn't have gone smoother. We love Julia!

We were amazed by how she was able to capture such undisturbed intimacy in the middle of a busy city and we loved the delicate natural lighting of our portraits. As two people who don’t enjoy a lot of focused attention we can say we felt completely comfortable throughout the entire portrait-taking process. Rather than forcing us into awkward poses and directing every motion Julia would instead ask us to look into each other’s eyes and try to be present in the moment. The rest came naturally. Looking through our photos afterward we were in awe of how natural and effortless it all appeared. Julia was also very efficient when the time came to round everyone up for group photos. She was very organized and followed the document she had prepared but was also flexible when necessary. Julia also went above and beyond to make sure other parts of our wedding went smoothly. She helped me figure out how to attach my veil, pinned boutonnières, silently directed the band that came in the middle of the ceremony to where they were meant to set up, made sure my bouquet went into a vase when I wasn’t holding it, and even brought me hors d'oeuvres when I was too focused on touching-up my makeup during cocktail hour. I can’t thank her enough for all her kindness and assistance and will be forever grateful for all the moments she captured on our wedding day.

r your wedding day it is so much more than just someone to take pictures. You want someone who is present for all of the big and small experiences throughout the day but also respectful of the privacy in some moments but able to capture it all through her lens. Julia was amazing and easy to work with and super thorough with every detail that we told her we wanted to capture. She was respectful of our private vow reading BUT also captured such a special moment beautifully Julia was able to tell our love story perfectly and captured all of our small intimate moments so well. These photos will be cherished for life and we cannot thank Julia enough for having such warm and kind energy not just with us but with all our guests and other vendors as well.

I loved that I could bounce ideas off her and ask questions throughout the planning process, and trust that she would give me great advice. With her beautiful photos, we can relive our perfect day over and over again.

we’d get the pictures we needed. Then… COVID happened. One night while perusing Instagram, I came across a photoshoot that Julia did with Eva (Blossoming Boughs, the amazing florist I was already working with). I don’t know how else to explain it, but I suddenly know that cell phone pictures my aunt took just weren’t going to cut it…. if we were going to wait a whole extra year for this event, we needed to have it formally documented, and it needed to be by Julia! Having the extra year to plan, this wedding went from a “casual event” to a full-blown camp weekend! We rented a tent, linens, doubled the initial flower proposal, and I had my first call with Julia where I explained my vision. Adult summer camp – bonfires, games, matching shirts! After only a few minutes of chatting, it was clear she saw the vision too! Finally, the 2021 weekend happened. Julia showed up that morning (this was one of my favorite parts of working with Julia – she didn’t just come an hour before the wedding.. she was there all day!), put on the camp T shirt we had made for all the guests, and immediately jumped right in photographing the “Olympics” events we had planned (potato sack races, paddleboard relay, etc.). The action shots are out of this world – you can truly see how much fun everyone is happening, and I am so happy that I’ll have these pictures forever! My husband (first time typing that!!) and I were really nervous about doing “romantic” pictures because we are complete and total goofballs… but Julia made it so relaxed and fun! The pictures are outstanding and I didn’t feel like I was posing in front of a stranger (besides, by that point Julia was basically my new best friend.. as far from a stranger as you could get). I could go on and on and on… but basically I want to slap some sense into my 2020 planning self. YES, you need a photographer, and YES, it needs to be Julia Luckett!!! I couldn’t be happier.

We had a call about a month in advance of the wedding to walk through the timeline of the wedding day and the pictures we were requesting. She also shared some locations she had in mind for our first look pictures, which I’m so glad we went with her recommendation, as the location was absolutely beautiful! Julia was extremely organized, and her attention to detail is very impressive. She helped us piece together our timeline and everything I shared from the call, she executed on day of, which made it so helpful. It was great to not have to think about what picture formations, groups and details I wanted on the wedding day, as she had it all listed out. She even helped to corral the guests for the big group pictures, as she knew we wanted to be able to enjoy the cocktail hour & reception without being held up with the formal pictures for too long. Once we were done with the formal bridal party and family pictures, she let the pictures happen naturally. I never felt that the pictures were forced or constantly posed, which I really appreciated as we wanted to have memories that captured us being in the moment. She was so engaged and enthusiastic throughout the day too, and our guests were complimenting how sweet she was! We now have such beautiful pictures and moments to reminisce on, all thanks to Julia! We highly recommend her!
