Julie is an incredible person and photographer!!! She was amazing to work with for our engagement photos and wedding! She is so easy to talk to and listens to you and what your vision is. She has such great ideas and really knows what’s best with your best interest in mind! Her photos turned out amazing and even got a sneak peak by the time the wedding weekend was over! Julie was an absolutely incredible vendor. We really struggled finding a photographer at first - every big company would market certain photos and then once we were paired with a photographer, the photos were nothing like what we first saw. When we talked to Julie we knew instantly we were in good hands. You get a personalized, detailed experience with Julie. It is going to be extremely difficult for me to articulate my incredible experience with Julie Dietz as our wedding photographer. Especially in such a small forum like this. I'll start by saying if she's available and you are still in need of a photographer, I would sincerely encourage you to book. From our first meeting via Zoom, I knew Julie was going to help tie our entire day together. Her willingness to explore the usage of an old school film camera, paired with her openness to my vision, ideas & inspo was beyond appreciated. If you're someone who may find this process incredibly daunting and stressful, you need Julie's presence through-out this. She brought an immense amount of calmness and organization to my year leading into the big day and that alone was priceless to me. Not only that, she handled two insanely loud families with such grace when taking group shots. Her ability to capture so many different variations in only a 2 hour window is a testament to her experience and ability to remain efficient under annoying circumstances. Those circumstances being families yelling and children running around haha Keep in mind, all of these things I’ve mentioned thus far are really just the cherry on top. I can even begin to describe the pictures we received in our gallery. Every moment was captured so tastefully and fun. I'm not even sure how she did it without a second shooter because we have so many of our guests as well which is incredibly special. In conclusion, if we had to do it again Julie would be the first call I made. Forever indebted to her for capturing our day so beautifully.

I was fortunate enough to have Julie take my engagement and wedding photos. The pictures were absolutely stunning. She has an excellent eye for natural pictures that capture such important moments. I am very camera shy, but Julie’s calm demeanor helped me get out of my head. You’ll definitely feel like you’re working with a longtime friend and not just someone behind a camera. Julie was absolutely FABULOUS to work with. I knew from the second I saw her work I wanted to hire her. In addition to our photos coming out better than I could have hoped, she also supported us through the chaos of the wedding day and worked so well with our day of coordinator. Julie did an excellent job for us at our wedding! Her and the second shooter (Charissa) were both very fun and encouraging on the day of the wedding! They helped make my wife and me feel relaxed and confident during all of the non-candid photos which is great since not everyone is used to getting photographed so much or for so long. The photographs of the day also turned out excellent! The staged photos are all lit and framed well, but where we think Julie really did a magnificent job was the candid photos. If you are leaning towards a style that feels less pre-determined and want a photographer who will capture the feelings and moments of the day, Julie is the pick for you!

Working with Julie leading up to the wedding was such a pleasure, and we LOVE the pictures she took of our wedding! We choose to work with her specifically because the pictures she takes look so natural, candid, and comfortable - not too staged. That's exactly how ours turned out. We hired Julie to be our wedding photographer for our April 2022 wedding and she was wonderful! The pictures are beautiful and she did such a great job capturing both the big and smaller moments throughout the day. We ended up having torrential rain and even tornados in the area on our wedding day, so our time period for pictures had to be expedited to beat the rain, and Julie ensured we got the outdoor pictures we really wanted, and even improvised with some rainy day pictures under an overhang at the venue. She also worked really well with the church rules and restrictions - I was so impressed by how many great shots she got throughout the ceremony! Thank you, Julie! You captured our day so well and we will cherish these photos forever!

Julie and her second shooter, Stephanie were a dream to work with for our 2022 wedding! The stunning photos speak for themselves, but what you don’t see is Julie and her team’s attention to detail, discreetly snapping photos of priceless moments without even knowing she’s there, jumping into action when busses don’t arrive or family members are causing stress, etc. She was communicative without being overbearing, and knew how to prioritize shots we wanted, and those we didn’t even know we needed! My wife and I hired Julie to photograph our wedding this past month, and we could not have made a better choice! We were so lucky to find Julie and she seriously was one of the best parts of our wedding vendor team. We booked Julie about a year out from our wedding and used her for both our engagement photos and wedding photos. Julie is so easy to work worth and made us feel very comfortable (we felt a little awkward and nervous about taking photos!) and all of our photos have been beautiful. I was so in love with how she captured the more candid moments along with the more posed ones. I especially love how she worked with us to incorporate different settings - we wanted to make sure the unique vintage setting of our venue was highlighted and she captured it perfectly. I could go on and on but I'll wrap with saying Julie is also super responsive and turned around our photos super fast - even faster than we expected. Working with Julie was a dream. We planned everything remotely on a quick timeline, and she was there to guide us through the process and help us navigate not only our photography, but the cadence of our wedding and some of the logistics like our ketubah signing. She was easily our favorite vendor and made everything a breeze. She navigated family dynamics with ease, kept everything moving on time, brainstormed portrait locations, hired a great second photographer, and even brought her own easel for us to use. We were so incredibly lucky to work with Julie and thrilled to have her part of our day. And of course the photos were fantastic. Everything feels better and easier with Julie around, and her laid-back (but in-charge) demeanor was absolutely perfect for us (a neurotic New Yorker and a relaxed Midwesterner). I like the require posed pictures of wedding, but I love candid moments that truly capture the feeling of the day. We hired Julie for a revised ceremony (just the two of us) due to the Covid crisis with short notice. She had short notice and limited direction since we weren't sure about what places we'd want to be photographed in with a whole new ceremony/location planned, and what would even be open/available. Let me start out by saying Julie is absolutely a rock star! We wanted to have a truly local wedding, from the venue, to the flowers, to the food/drink, to the photographer, and she fit in perfectly with the event. My now husband worked with her and her husband previously, and that further helped us feel comfortable during the process. Julie immediately put at ease with her extreme attention to detail. We had several phone calls with her in the months leading up to the wedding, and her experience in logistics really helped us shape the day to make the most out of the time we had with her. She clearly is a master of her craft, understanding how to put people at ease, and make what could be a stressful day an even more perfect day. She was able to capture the perfect moments, and was the most relaxed person to be around. She kept things moving without making people feel rushed. She knew where we needed to be, and made sure everything was happening smoothly. Even at 5 months pregnant at the time, she was climbing on furniture to make sure she got the perfect shot. Her pricing was very reasonable, and we got our photos back more quickly than we could have ever imagined. She clearly knew how to handle taking photos in a public location, in terms of getting us to spots where we could have private moments in a public setting. She knew the right time of day to take the best shots! She was even able to corral our young nephew to ensure that he could be a part of our photos (baby shark may or may not have been sung by Julie!). Even at the ceremony and the reception she was present without ever making you constantly aware of her being there, in the best way possible :) I would highly recommend her to anybody and everybody, she far exceeded our expectations, and made us feel so special throughout the day of. We are now trying to come up with more photo worthy events so that we can use her amazing services again!

I love our wedding pictures, which is the most important thing, but Julie was also a great person to work with! She is calm, organized, and down to earth, and has good taste.

Julie is absolutely amazing! She made our wedding photos effortless. Our consultations and follow up calls were thorough and efficient, and her timeline was so helpful. She arrived right on time the day of our wedding, was completely prepared and got right to work. She even brought a 3M hook to make sure we could hang the dress to get the best pics in the room! I never even once noticed her during the ceremony, and she managed to get so many shots from every angle. We got some great photos of our Greek dancing at the reception and I loved our photoshoot with the bridal party in the West Loop in Chicago. She was so flexible when we had small requests for certain shots, and captured our day perfectly.We got our photos back last night and I haven't stopped looking at them. I also love that we got plenty of pictures, but we didn't get thousands to sift through which is too overwhelming. You would be crazy not to work with her!

Julie was the perfect wedding photographer for our December 2018 wedding! She was the epitome of responsiveness and professional the entire process! Julie is the best, wouldn't want anyone else to photograph our wedding!

My husband and I are awkward with posing but Julie had a relaxed way of working with us that made us look great in our engagement photos. From a content standpoint, Julie had ideas for where to pose to capture different parts of the city and we got a lot accomplished over a few hours (millennium park, the train, overlooking the lake, a bridge). She was also flexible, given that the day started out rainy. Never fear, the pictures were beautiful and we would definitely hire her again and recommend her to any of our friends.

Writing this review I'm realizing that my husband and I already knew we would love Julie's photographs because we had seen her work on her website. Now that our wedding is over I also see the importance of having someone with her professionalism and steady calmness around during the whirlwind of our wedding day. Julie did such a beautiful job with our photographs and capturing the special moments throughout the day! Thankfully she knew the city where we were getting married well, and actually picked out a nice area for our first look pictures. To me this was going the extra mile. We would have never known about it otherwise. The time leading up to the wedding she was always available to discuss anything about the wedding day and the photos to be taken. The day of the wedding she did such a nice job taking care of everything during the photoshoots of the wedding parties and family shots. She was organized and willing to deal with the extreme heat with a smile. She has clearly been doing this for so long that when I was starting to worry and stress about timing its like she would read my mind and simply state, "Just so you know we are totally fine on timing." She completely put me at ease.
