2 hours before we drive to the venue Julie says that two of the hair and make up stylists will not be coming. This left us no time to gather our makeup/hair tools so we could do it ourselves. The poor MOH who booked the services was so devastated with how they handled the situation. Hair and makeup was not a luxury!! I was one of the girls who wasn’t done until 20 minutes before the ceremony started, we had to take pictures during cocktail hour!! Please learn from our experiences Julie is completely unreliable and not worth the money!!! P.S Also she claimed to be a celebrity stylist but I don’t see any info on her doing any celebrities??? Can anyone confirm because I don’t see any information on that either.

k much of until reading that others had a similar experience. Then, the evening prior to my wedding, I received a text that Julie had a family emergency and an alternative team would be provided. I was assured that I would be compensated for the last minute change. I was stressed, but again, didn't think too much of it because of course, family comes first and I can't blame anyone for having an emergency. The back-up team did an ok job, but clearly weren't as experienced. The make-up artist was nervous to curl my eyelashes and asked me to do it myself. The hair stylist seemed to struggle a bit and many of the up-dos started falling apart a few hours into the wedding. We ended up running an hour behind and my makeup was the one being rushed, which was really a bummer. Hair and makeup was one of the things I was most nervous about and I was really disappointed with how I looked - no bride should have to feel that way on her wedding day. Even after all of that, I wasn't angry. It wasn't until I tried to contact Julie after my event that my opinion of her changed. I sent multiple texts and emails over the course of a few months and have heard absolutely nothing from Julie or her team. Again, this seems to be a pattern for Julie and is completely unprofessional. She clearly has no respect for her clients and I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere for your wedding day beauty services.

It was going around and I had no reason to doubt her. We rescheduled for feb and I booked her for the wedding because she had a great package, they were super fun, nice and my MOH liked my trial. I signed a contract just for my hair and makeup plus travel since my wedding wasn’t until 10.7.23. I booked her for engagement pictures for oct of 2022. We were rained out and they said we thought this would happen and I was able to reschedule with them for a Tuesday in October. About 2 days before I get email that julie had a family emergency. They offered a replacement but I denied it as I wanted Julie to do my makeup again before the wedding. I reschedule the hair and makeup for my bridal shower June 11, 2023. I got an email 8:30pm the night before my shower saying julie had a family emergency they have to cancel. No replacement was offered and to be honest I’m lucky I even saw the email. At this point I was very upset. I had no time to try to find a replacement for my shower the next day. This was becoming a pattern. I asked how can I be certain this won’t happen for my wedding day. The answer was we have never missed a wedding in 14 years. No word of a back up plan. That answer was not good enough for me. I did not use them for my wedding day as I could not trust they wouldn’t have another family emergency.

Also, I want to preface that my dissatisfaction with Julie Occhino does not take away from my immense appreciation for the team that showed up on my wedding day and went above and beyond; shout out to David and Holly for their grace and magic! As a hospital social worker, I am entirely understanding of the ongoing impact that COVID-19 has on the implications and risks not only for planning a wedding, but on the day to day lives and well being for so many. I am not understanding of the apparent lack of communication and follow through of Julie Occhino’s management around a major change to the timeline and services the company was contracted to provide on my wedding day. Because of illness, we ended up being down a few artists on my wedding day. The Julie Occhino team failed to appropriately notify me of this change in staffing. I received an email just 24 hours ahead of my wedding day with no follow up text or phone call. On the morning of my wedding, one of my bridesmaids called me to inform me that hair and makeup had arrived on site at her apartment 2 hours early, due to a “change in schedule.” This threw me for a whirlwind on the morning of my wedding day and the craze of the situation could have been avoided with adequate communication. Again, I’m understanding of COVID - AND still , the responsibility of Julie O as the booking company was to communicate adequately. I’m thankful to David and Holly for their positivity and gracefulness and hope this feedback motivates the booking company to do better. Book the artists independently as they deserve to be credited - Julie Occhino is not worth your investment.

Julie was so easy to work with and coordinate with when it came to scheduling. I really wanted a natural look for my makeup and Julie listened to that. Both Julie and Melanie were so efficient and made everyone feel so comfortable throughout the day. I absolutely loved my hair and makeup and would highly recommend them!

Prior to the events we received a day-of timeline outlining appointment times for each member of our party, as well as touch ups before the pre-ceremony photos and touch ups before the ceremony. The morning of the wedding at 7:40 we received notice from the owner via text that only 2 stylists were available due to illness. She assured us that the entire party could still be accommodated and not to worry. It became evident very quickly that the two stylists were not equipped to handle a group of our size and our wedding timeline quickly fell apart. What was disappointing was that the stylists offered no solutions (quick updo suggestions, set times for each girl) and seemed completely non-concerned as our timeline fell apart. None of the full bridal party or family photos scheduled to take place prior to the ceremony were able to completed as we had hair and make-up run right up until the ceremony started. None of the pre-ceremony or photo touch ups were had been promised were able to occur despite the summer humidity causing curls to fall flat because there were still members of our party waiting for services in the times they were scheduled. The groom also declined to have his hair styled as it was obvious there was no time to squeeze him in. My sister-in-law followed-up via phone call after the event to voice her disappointment in the day and the response she received was unprofessional, full of half-truths and showed no remorse for their failure to provide the services we had agreed to prior. The owner initially tried to deny that we were ever promised four stylists despite having a scheduled created by her that clearly utilized four stylists and her texting the morning of the event to say she would only be sending two stylists instead of four. When confronted she backtracked and then stated that the timeline provided was simply an outline and not something they could be held to. She also declined to reimburse us for the services we did not receive due to lack of staff on her part (grooms hair and touch ups). What has been most disappointing about the entire experience is that they could not even provide a half-hearted apology for what transpired and became callous and dismissive when confronted with how different our experience was from the day we had been told to expect. While I understand illness happens it has honestly been the owners lack of accountability and dismissive behavior that has left us with with a very poor view of this company and their values.

I went with Julie as she called her company luxury and I wanted the smoothest day possible so we could just enjoy the day and not be stressed, boy was I wrong! I got a text less than two hours (7:40am) before the scheduled time to begin services (9:00am) that half of her team would not be showing up. I had been given a timeline with (4) stylists, 2 makeup and 2 hair. She claimed this was due to COVID but being in a post COVID world how is there no backup plan for when this happens? As you can imagine I had no time to try and fix this situation with any of the party. Whether that be bringing hair tools or makeup for people to do themselves. Her attitude on the situation was to pretend nothing was wrong! This destroyed the schedule for the day especially for the photographers! We had to take pictures during cocktail hour to finish. Touch ups were not given obviously as there was no time. The groom also did not receive his hair service because of the schedule being thrown out the window and 3 bridesmaids not being done at the time. The day was perfect other than the Makeup and hair! This added unneeded stress and unhappy people who had not been done until the ceremony was about to begin. There was no time for touch ups, no time for redoes if someone was not happy with a service absolutely nothing! When I called about getting some compensation as it was not the customers fault in this instance that things went wrong I got a completely different woman on the phone. When I brought up that there were two stylists missing "Well in the contract nothing states that you will have four artists". What?! How could you say that when you knew that there was a party of 11 people to do?! When I brought up that the groom did not get his service "Well if he refused there's nothing that we can do about that." Of course he's going to refuse. There were 3 bridesmaids not done and the photographers were trying to get any pictures they could possibly get done, done! When I stated that the timeline was not met whatsoever "Well the timeline we just curate for you this is not actually in the contract." When we tried to implore her for a discount she stated "I can't do that I have to pay the other stylist that came with me I would be in the hole." Absolute lies! I would have been charged the same amount for 4 stylists. How are you in the hole? Lies on top of lies, excuses on top of excuses until finally she stated "I am not going to do this song and dance with you." and we ended the call. Her form of compensation was a free hair and makeup appointment that as of right now has not been given but honestly I'm not going to use this as I am not comfortable with Julie's business. There could be hidden fees or as some of the other reviews have stated she would reschedule 8 times until you give up. Thinking about that now she did reschedule the makeup/hair trial last minute and I had to scramble to try to make other dinner reservations. I should have taken that as a sign for future difficulties. For future brides know this: Julie Occhino has NO backup plan if a stylist calls out and you will not be compensated for this. Julie Occhino will hold YOU the customer to her timeline but NOT herself. If the timeline is completely off because of her decisions you will not be compensated.

I felt like I could collaborate with the team on how I wanted to work, and even if I was to change a little bit here and there, Julie and her team were able to go with the flow to have us all look exactly how we wanted. They are a dream - I cannot recommend them enough!

We still talk about how much fun we had with them. For future brides, highly recommend getting extensions if you’re on the fence! I really wanted a natural look that enhanced my features and did not want heavy makeup and she listened! I felt confident and beautiful all night. The only thing to consider is makeup took a lot longer than hair to complete, so in the beginning it appeared the girls doing makeup were running really behind. I would probably suggest that the girls doing hair actually work on more girls in the bridal party and the girls doing makeup take on less girls to accommodate for this. However, this is very minor and just something to consider while planning out the timeline for the day. They were able to accommodate my large bridal party without starting as early as we really needed to because the venue didn’t allow us to enter any earlier which I really appreciated. Thanks for the amazing job!

Julie did a fantastic job making sure the makeup matched everyone's skin colors - no weirdly light necks! - and Melanie did an amazing job with straight Asian hair, wavy fine hair, somewhat kinky curls, and hair with a complicated mix of textures. One of the best compliments from a guest was that I still looked like myself, which I was worried about. Julie and Melanie did a wonderful job listening to what we wanted and then creating a look based on that. They are also so kind and positive, which is not always a given in the beauty industry. From our first conversation, I could tell how professional and understanding Julie was. She really “got” me when I was describing the type of makeup look I envisioned for myself. I had two trials (one when I first booked and one a lot closer to the wedding because I wanted to ensure I knew what I wanted), and had the pleasure of having my bridal shower and rehearsal dinner hair and makeup done by Julie and Melanie, in addition to my wedding day. On the wedding day, Julie and Melanie did an incredible job on myself, my mother, and my maid of honor’s hair and makeup. Their team members, Sunny and David, also did a fantastic job on my bridesmaids and mother in law. Everyone was very happy with their hair and makeup. I added on a few hours so Julie and Melanie were with us until the reception started which was 100% some of the best money I’ve ever spent. There is nothing like having the team there for touchups during photos and before the grand entrance at the reception! Aside from their incredible hair and makeup skills, Julie, Melanie, and everyone on their team who I have spoken to or worked with are incredibly kind, understanding, and patient. A few weeks after my wedding, I had another wedding to attend and yet again got my hair and makeup done by Julie and Melanie. They are so fantastic and I can’t wait until the next time I’m lucky enough to get glammed up by them!

Julie & Melanie were amazing from start to finish - starting with my trial and being so understanding & considerate to my requests. She has such attention to detail, and would not quit until I was 100% happy. Melanie created the exact hairstyle I was going for, romantic waves that actually stayed in place. Still no idea how she got those halo extensions in my hair, but she did! I am so grateful to Julie & her team for making my whole bridal party happy, and being such a pleasure to work with!!

eremony start time- I was told a few weeks leading up to my wedding the time was non negotiable and Julie is no longer doing my bridesmaids makeup (even though this was in my contract) AND she’s leaving right after she does mine. I told her I wasn’t comfortable with that early of a start time via text and she blocked me. My text said not delivered, I tried calling and it went straight to voicemail- I thought maybe her phone was off but there were so many other issues that I was suspicious. I tried from my fiancé’s phone and wallah, it rang multiple times all the way to voicemail. I left a voicemail and pretended to be confused but it was obvious what happened. I panicked and couldn’t believe she blocked me for voicing a legitimate concern. When Julie finally had her assistant contact me I asked if Julie would do a bridesmaids makeup at 8:45am and the second makeup artist can do mine later instead. I was informed “Julie does not provide services to bridesmaids and will not be traveling to do so” … I asked for photos of the other makeup artists work because at this point I was willing to just work with someone else even though I had already paid and completed a $450 trial with Julie. They wouldn’t send me any photos. I tried making the best of the situation and accepted it with no say in the matter. Well, less than 24 hours from my wedding I get a text from her company saying Julie will actually be doing my makeup at 7am, and it’s non-negotiable. At this point I asked again if she can do a bridesmaids makeup because there’s no way I’m getting my makeup done 10 hours before my ceremony and they said no. I sent a strongly worded message and Julie agreed to do a bridesmaids makeup. Working with this company was my ONLY stress about my wedding. I’m hoping this opens Julie’s eyes to her business practice and treats her brides way better moving forward. No part of my relationship or experience with her was “luxurious.”

When they were finished on my wedding day, I cannot believe how beautiful I looked and felt! They did an amazing job! Since I had 10 people getting hair and make up done, Alexis and Dana were also there. Everyone loved the way they looked!

I am a person who really likes to explore all options prior to committing, and I spoke with MANY beauty companies to inquire for my wedding. In comparison to these companies, Julie's process so obviously sets her far above any other company I communicated with. What was most immediately notable was that our first interaction was a phone call that lasted somewhere between 30-45 minutes. Julie had already done her own research and checked out my wedding website and expressed excitement about our love story and our wedding. She was kind and caring and her talent and experience was evident in the questions she asked - she asked about things I wouldn't even think of! She was flexible and creative as we discussed the potential of wearing masks over our makeup and made my choice to book with her VERY easy. Just when I thought I had it all after that first phone call, I received organized and clear communication through email about our contract and services and what to expect moving forward - there are many different package options to suit individual needs, and many of them have perks thrown in! I also received a welcome package that included a beautiful soap, lotion and a white pashmena, which I was desperately searching for for my bridal shower outfit! It was oddly the perfect thing to receive in the mail at the perfect moment. Julie and her team then sent a PDF beauty wedding-prep guide - UM it was like the holy grail of wedding prep tips! Then I met with Julie remotely for a Pinterest pinning session - so fun! I was so happy to see Julie at my trial, as well as the hair genius, Mel. We sat in this super cool studio and chatted for two hours while they made me into a queen! They were so fun to be around. They work beautifully together. They literally finish each other's sentences :) and together make you feel calm and excited at the same time. Their skill is very obvious. I knew I was in good hands. They were also extremely patient and open when I had special requests - they truly want to make you feel your absolute best. On the wedding day, Julie, Mel and their team of artists (I had 12 bridesmaids!!!!) really impressed me. The morning of getting ready was calm, organized, and efficient. Everyone loved their hair and make-up. If anyone had any tweaks or requests for changes, all of the artists were so willing and eager to make any adjustments. Julie and Mel's work on me was everything I could have ever dreamed of!!!! I felt so beautiful and I got so much positive feedback about my hair and make-up, specifically - my husband was really obsessed. :) Best part of all, Julie and Mel provided an additional 3 hours of service for touch ups at the ceremony and then during photos before the reception - BEST MONEY EVER SPENT! They were the perfect hype team as they followed us all around the grounds of our venue for touch ups and helping fluff my long wedding dress train so that our photographer can capture the best look. They were patient, fun, personable, and all of my bridal party and family absolutely adored them. I am so grateful to the full team. Julie and Mel will truly have a special place in my heart forever! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
