Fair warning- I write very long &detailed reviews! If that’s your kind of thing, keep on reading! If not, then the TL;DR is basically that you should ABSOLUTELY hire Joel.
In the ...
process of interviewing several wedding planners for our 240-person wedding, we could tell that Joel had the necessary &impressive experience that we needed. I asked him what set him apart from other planners. Joel said that his favorite thing about wedding planning is developing strong bonds with his clients. He is so personally invested into making sure it is the best day of your life!
My husband & I got married in my parents’ backyard at my childhood home & all 4 of us were heavily involved in the planning. While this was overall great, it did lead to some tension when ideas clashed. Joel was an expert at navigating these &making sure we stayed on track. My husband appreciated that he didn’t immediately go along with everything suggested. Instead, he would draw on his own experience &gently push back/give us his honest opinion when it was warranted. His counsel was the saving grace for much of the planning process. He had amazing ideas of his own &was also great at helping us further conceptualize our own ideas. He also introduced us to our amazing DJ (DJ Kim Collins; you should also 100% hire her), who was a perfect fit for us/our wedding.
Joel spent SO much time meeting with us, both virtually & in-person. He was on ALL of our vendor interview calls &asked super important questions we never would’ve thought of. He took the time to intimately get to know my parents’ home so that he would know exactly what he was working with. He was even on crutches for the first few months we worked together &still insisted on touring the backyard every time!
Joel was the absolute MVP of our wedding day (and entire process). During the wedding week, he was there for every 7am delivery, making sure that everything was perfect. When the tent from the rental company had a white entrance instead of clear like we’d ordered, Joel immediately got on the phone &the entrance was replaced within a couple hours (which is honestly nothing short of a miracle). He also made it a point to meet with all the vendors, including the catering &event staff, beforehand to develop rapport &that made the big day go by that much more smoothly.
I’m not exaggerating when I say Joel is the reason I felt no stress on my wedding day (or during the whole process really). Even when we were running behind by 45 minutes, he figured out how we could make up for lost time without losing any important moments. He made sure that my husband &I got as much food as we needed &that we had a special moment to ourselves after the ceremony. He also made sure that we always had a beer/cocktail &water with us at all times (he is the only reason I did not have a hangover the morning after). He would somehow appear at the perfect time &then go make sure everything was running seamlessly. I don’t know exactly what he did during that day - precisely how it should be.
Joel’s priority is always to make sure that you enjoy your wedding day & don’t worry about anything. All in all - if you want someone who will:
- listen & be honest with you
- develop a bond with you
- put his whole heart & soul into the process as if he were the one getting married
- make sure you have zero stress on your wedding day (& no hangover the next morning)
…then hiring Joel will be the best decision you ever make. Thank you so much, Joel!
Joel is fantastic! I hired him as a bride planning her wedding from out of state, and thank god I did. He understood my vision and helped me work with the other vendors to get ever...
yone on board, taking control of some of the tougher conversations like with my caterer. Day of the wedding, he was amazing! My mom still talks about how awesome he handled everything, and she is tough to impress! I felt like Joel really cared, and I definitely think the cost was well worth it. He has a whole portfolio that you work on together to make sure he knows exactly what you want, and that was essential since I planned from a distance. I am so glad we worked Joel, you will be too!
Joel was absolutely fantastic! My (now) husband and I hired Just Planned Events for our big day, and we’re so glad that we did. He proved to be invaluable for making our big day a ...
success! We went with month-of coordination, and we definitely recommend that other couples upgrade to this over just day-of coordination, if you’re undecided. We had several conversations about our planning progress when we were a few months out, and having Joel step in during the final month allowed us to make the last few hectic days of the wedding planning process much less stressful than it would have been otherwise. Going with the month-of option also made us feel like he understood our vision for the day much more than a planner would otherwise.
On and leading up to the big day, Joel expertly handled a number of surprise issues that would have completely overwhelmed us, including the need to source a few tables that were overlooked by the original vendor when we were a few days out. He also dealt with major issues that would have otherwise soured the wedding, such as dealing with a vendor forgetting to deliver our tablecloths until 20 minutes into cocktail hour (!!!). Joel was able to keep us on schedule, shield us from potential stressors, and made it possible for us to fully enjoy the moment, knowing that things were safe in his hands. The whole night, he noticed little details that we needed, like bringing my husband a napkin within seconds when he saw that his fingers had a bit of frosting on them after the cake cutting. Our families and guests were so impressed with him that some said they want to hire him too for their events! Joel is the real deal, and we recommend him wholeheartedly!
Joel is the best. He made us feel seen and heard, and was just an absolute pleasure to have regular conversations with as we led up to the big day. He made us feel at ease and in c...
apable hands, and also provided us with good resources, advice and support. Hands down would recommend Joel to any of my friends with weddings on the horizon!

and his team made sure my husband and I had nothing to worry about and they kept everything on schedule. Life savers!
Joel Parra makes magic happen. We hired him for Partial Planning, but I think it would have been great if he guided us from the start. Not only is he organized, and attentive, but ...
he also has a keen eye for romantic touches. When we asked for ideas, he provided some options and respected our vision of how we wanted to hold our wedding. Joel is also a peacemaker. When I had it emotionally with planning stress, he and my now husband worked out the remaining meetings with verve and joy. I had no worries on my wedding day. Even my guests felt Joel was professional and had all under control. They tell me Joel Parra and Just Planned was money worth spent, and I agree. Joel even came into NYC (from MA) with our last-minute uplighting ideas. We appreciate him and whole-heartedly recommend him as a Wedding Planner.
We worked with Joel recently to plan a day long event that started with our daughter's 7th birthday party with 15 7 year old girls and then turned into a 10 year anniversary party ...
for my husband and me with family and close friends. Joel was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He really listened to me and my husband to figure out exactly what we wanted the day to look like, asking for our inspirations and how involved we wanted to be in the process. Joel found AMAZING vendors for us, including a magician for my daughter's party that we were so impressed with that we kept him on for the anniversary party, as well as flowers and food that my whole family was asking where they came from. On the day of Joel was with us the whole day making everything run smoothly-- I told him I don't know how I'm going to hold a party without him now! We cannot recommend him enough.
Due to COVID-19 implications we were forced to downsize and then cancel our original wedding. When we found a venue and rebooked our wedding, we had 6 weeks to pull everything toge...
ther. We hired Joel about 3 weeks prior to wedding day. We can easily say that our day would not have been what it was without Joel. While we had figured out a lot of the bigger details, he came in to help bring everything together and coordinate the small details flawlessly. He took the time to get to know us and what was important for us to help make sure our vision came to life. He helped us secure last minute, meaning the day before the wedding, vendors and really made sure our day was how we envisioned it. Joel was always extremely professional and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible. He is extremely personable and was a hit with everyone at the wedding! We cannot recommend Joel enough for your event! - Bethany and Tony

uld have a special day without being completely broke after the fact. He gave so many amazing suggestions & recommendations - we ended up booking on of the venues that he recommended and are SO excited. If it weren’t for Joel, we would probably still have no plans and be leaning more towards eloping than having a ceremony & reception. We are so thankful to our friends Lucinda & Ryan who recommended we call Joel. JOEL- thank you SO much for all that you have done. We appreciate you so much. You are amazing at your job and going to be the most used wedding planner in MA in no time. I plan to refer all of my friends & family to you!
We hired Joel and Stacey about a month before our wedding. Our venue event coordinator had left and we did not feel like the new coordinator was as helpful. Hiring Joel and Stacey ...
was the best decision we made in regards to our wedding! Stacey was our main coordinator and was on every final call we had with our vendors. She also created a complete timeline for the day of and made sure everything went off with out a hitch.
The day of our wedding we were lucky to have both Joel and Stacey on site, and they even went as far to pick up our Chick-fil-a lunch for our wedding party! Our wedding day was stress free and all we had to do was enjoy it, thanks to Stacey and Joel.
I highly recommend Just Planned Events and will recommend them to all family and friends. Even though I hired them just for the day of coordination, they helped with all final details leading up to the wedding. Best money we spent!
We hired Joel and his full planning services for our wedding this past September. It was literally the best decision we made within our wedding process. From the initial call, Jo...
el was personable and truly cared to bring our vision to life. He made sure we stayed within our budget, on schedule, vetted numerous vendors and kept us informed throughout the entire process. At first, we were a little hesitant because Joel is located in Boston and we are in DC, but Joel assured us that would not be an issue at all. He took several trips to DC prior to our wedding to meet with us and walk through our venue as well as meet with multiple vendors to verify that they can deliver all our needs. The day of the wedding could not have gone more smoothly. He decided to bring along two assistants for additional help, and they made sure the guests, and wedding party were taken care of and felt welcomed from beginning to end and managed all the vendors and their needs at the same time. We stayed on schedule and the transition throughout the night was perfect. Like I said, the best decision we made in planning our wedding, was hiring Joel and his team. We HIGHLY recommend Just Planned Events and we would 100% hire him again if we could :)
We hired Joel about 6 months before the wedding. We are pretty organized people but wanted someone who knew more about the wedding planning process and someone to keep us on track ...
and make sure we were getting everything done on time. Joel was amazing, we had monthly calls to check in and he was always available for questions, advice, and recommendations. The month of the wedding is the most stressful time in the planning process (especially for a Type A personality like mine). Joel went with us to the venue on multiple occasions to help finalize plans and so that he could understand exactly what we wanted our day to be. Not only is Joel a great person and easy to work with but he is also very organized! He constructed an in depth time line for the day of, which believe me, is super important. We were impressed with Joel prior to the wedding day but on the day of, he blew me away. He arrived right on time with his team and took care of everything, I mean everything. I didn’t have to do anything but sit in the chair and get my hair and make up done, he and his team organized everything around me. This was a huge help to me as I was able to use that time to relax my nerves. Joel brought two other team members with him, because of this they were able to be everywhere (church, venue, photos, and two different locations where my husband and I were getting ready) which made sure things flowed smoothly. During the reception Joel and his team made my family and I feel like royalty, making sure we didn’t want for anything. Our glasses and our plates were never empty! Joel even called an Uber for a guest who did not have a smart phone. At the end of the night he and his team organized all of our gifts and DIY decorations and brought everything back to our hotel room, we didn’t have to do anything but enjoy the day. I would absolutely recommend Joel and his team to anyone who wants to make the planning process less stressful and to anyone who wants to sit back, relax, and enjoy their wedding day.

cess, we decided to book Joel and Just Planned Events. He was very professional and went above and beyond in every way to help us during our planning process and wedding day. Joel was organized, thought of every detail, and consistently kept us on track for the last several months up through our wedding night. Additionally, he took care of gathering all of our things and made sure not a single thing was missing. He worked very well with our many vendors who also spoke very highly of him. The greatest compliment was that our parents were so grateful we had him and they could not have imagined a more beautiful wedding. We never imagined that we would be able to just sit back and enjoy our wedding day. We were able to take in every moment thanks to Joel and his assistant. We highly recommend Joel and Just Planned Events for any wedding. We have even forwarded his information to our close friends and family for future weddings. We look forward to staying connected with Joel. He was just a joy to work with and just a godsend to us and our family. With his help, our wedding was everything we hoped it would be and more. Thank you Joel and Just Planned Events!! Joel you were there for us in so many ways and we will forever be grateful!

Our wedding day was amazing and we couldn't have done it without Joel!
Being a wedding photographer you’d think it would be so easy to plan my own wedding - Wrong! It was almost ...
as if I’d seen too much… so many choices for everything! And with experience in the wedding industry, I knew that having a wedding planner was essential. Right away Joel was organized and on top of everything that needed to be done. Joel was patient and helped me narrow down my vision that perfectly fit me and my husbands personality and budget.
With a family emergency happening the weekend before the wedding, Joel really stepped in and saved me. He was so caring about what my family and I were going through and immediately came to my rescue. My stress was at an all time high and I put all my trust in him to help me figure out last minute details. I’m glad I did because it all turned out beautiful! {Joel, I will be forever grateful for how you helped me during that time.}
Joel is simply wonderful! He’s not only there to make sure your timeline runs smoothly, he is there for YOU. He makes sure you’re enjoying every moment and not the one worrying about the timeline or vendors. The magic of the day wouldn’t have been possible without Joel behind the scenes coordinating it all!
Joel is an extremely hard worker and has a passion for his job. It shines through when speaking with him! His professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail makes him the perfect wedding planner you’ve been looking for. You need to hire Joel and his Just Planned events team!

r stress and sense of being overwhelming.
Joel, came in and handled it all.
He helped organize the last minute details that were crucial to our successful wedding. Joel was hired as a Day of Coordinator, but put in an extraordinary amount of time leading up to that day. On the day of the wedding, all we had to do was enjoy ourselves. I didn’t worry about finding the flowers because Joel delivered them to me. I didn’t worry about setting up the ballroom, because Joel set up the room for me. I didn’t worry about the location of the gifts, because Joel had them secured. Joel ensured that people were where they needed to be, when they needed to be there. We were not the ones ‘herding cats,’ he was. I highly recommend Joel, and his company Just Planned Events. He will work diligently to make sure that you do not have to work on the day of your wedding.

s obvious that Joel was exactly who we needed to make our wedding day vision a reality. His professionalism, attention to detail, problem solving and creativity were invaluable in the planning process. On our wedding day, he was the definition of grace under pressure, acting as a welcoming host to our guests and the point person for our many, many vendors, all while making sure the bride and groom were well taken care of at every turn. At every opportunity, Joel exceeded our expectations, going above and beyond what a typical wedding planner might do. He was generous with his time, and always made us feel like nothing was more important to him than our wedding.
Without question, hiring Joel was the best decision we made. He is worth every penny.

one month prior to the big day was spot on. Joel and his staff made our wedding day stress-free and for that he is worth every penny. The only think my husband and I did the day of our wedding was enjoy the day- Joel did ALL the rest. He and is staff are master coordinators and they think about all the details. He takes pride in his work and works hard to guarantee a worry free event for you and your future spouse. We got married on New Years Eve and the night was nothing less than magical.
