K Bar S Lodge

My wife and I were married at the end of October in 2019.  We live in north-eastern Nebraska and wanted to celebrate the big day in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota.  We hoped for an outdoor wedding with a gorgeous fall backdrop, excellent service/accommodations, that reasonably priced, and a location easy for our guests to travel to.  As a bonus we wanted a venue near multiple Black Hills attractions.  We toured and considered numerous venues (Spearfish Canyon, Custer State Park, Elkhorn Ridge Resort, etc…).  None met our needs better than K-Bar-S. We planned for an outdoor wedding and despite plunging temperatures and the threat of snow during the ceremony, K-Bar-S provided a beautiful location outside near their fire pit with fall foliage in the background.  The scenery on-site provided numerous gorgeous photography opportunities. The K-Bar-S team was easy to work with and were very accommodating of our needs and wishes.  Jordan and Bethany made it a point to get every detail just right and were always available in the event we needed them.  The reception location was perfectly setup for our party and the food was enjoyed by all. If you are planning a wedding in the Black Hills, my wife and I highly recommend K-Bar-S for the reasons mentioned above.  K-Bar-S delivered on all of our needs and more.

Jordan, Kyle, and the rest of the K Bar S crew were so awesome to work with. It is a beautiful venue that is close to so many different attractions in the beautiful Black Hills. I was so happy that a lot of our guests decided to make a vacation out of our wedding weekend by touring Hill City, Keystone, and Mt.Rushmore. I would highly recommend using K Bar S as a wedding venue! Great location, great meals, awesome drinks (and the new coffee bar!), and most important, great people to work with!!

The staff here are amazing, even in the face of crazy circumstances. Look no further for the most beautiful, stress-free, and amazing venue for your Black Hills wedding. A few days before my wedding, Mother Nature decided to flood Keystone, SD. I watched on the news as they showed my wedding venue, K Bar S, and how 8 feet of their driveway had been washed away completely. Jordan (the most amazing wedding coordinator on the planet) called me. They had a construction company coming in the morning, to make a passable road. Even if that failed, he gave me back up plans on how to get our guests in and out, and how much they would bend over backwards to make sure my wedding still happened exactly the way I wanted it. Two days later, my fiancé and I were driving into the Lodge, on the newly-finished patch of road and everything from that moment on went perfectly as planned. The staff here are the best anyone could ask for; Jordan, Kyle, Bethany, Paul are all rock stars that helped us answer any questions, and let us relax and enjoy our time with family and friends before, during, and after. Jordan set the bar so high from the beginning, answering all of my (many, many) questions via email and phone, letting me fly ideas past him, and helping us make decisions. His positive and relaxed attitude had a great calming effect on any anxieties I might have had, and his team of folks are the best I could have asked for. Before we chose this place, we made a trip out to the hills and saw 10 different venues. This was by far the most beautiful grounds and the best location for our guests to get to attractions, sights, and fun. Everyone loved the location and how easy it was to make a family vacation out of our event. The venue rental price was just right, about the middle of all the places we had looked (3500). The food price was very fair, and the food was amazing (3000 minimum). They have their own catering company, and they do a great job. They had great options for appetizers during our cocktail hour, and we got the s'mores bar option for late night food (a big hit; they have a great big fire pit and it was a beautiful night). The staff there helped assuage ours fears and brave an outdoor wedding (that did not get rained on!), because we had options for backup locations and a staff we trusted to make it beautiful no matter what the weather did. When it started to rain after our ceremony, the staff were there with umbrellas and carts, (and beer and wine) to help get us through the weather and still take great pictures. All of the other venues we looked at booked back-to-back (meaning there are separate weddings on Friday, Saturday, and even Sunday). This means scrambling to put up your decorations and take them all down within the same 16 hour day. Ridiculous. At K Bar S your wedding weekend is your WEEKEND. We were able to set up our decorations on Friday evening, relax and enjoy our morning on Saturday, and then take down our decorations on Sunday morning. And, quite frankly, we didn't need many decorations because the reception hall has beautiful windows that lets in the beauty of the valley, and we didn't want to take away from that. We really wanted a place that represented the beauty of the Black Hills, as a natural photogenic backdrop to our happiest days; K Bar S delivered. If you want natural beauty, amazing staff, and a great location for guests to explore the area, stop looking and call K Bar S. Thank you for everything!!

An absolutely stunning venue with wonderfully kind and accommodating staff. They helped us out when our wedding took place just days after a huge storm which prevented many from making their travel on time. They were gracious in helping everyone at all hours. The food was fantastic!

We chose and reserved K Bar S Lodge for our wedding venue without ever seeing the place or meeting the staff because we planned our wedding from another state. They by far exceeded our expectations. Jordan, the sales manager, was very responsive and courteous with all of our questions leading up to the wedding day. When we got there, they did everything in their power to accommodate us. The dining room manager was very helpful throughout the day leading up to the reception. The food was absolutely delicious and the bar was great! If we could do the day over again, we would 100% do it at K Bar S Lodge.

This was the perfect venue for our indoor wedding and reception. What I loved most was having the ceremony and reception take place in the same building, separate rooms, but the same building. I also loved how our guests were able to stay at the lodges onsite within walking distance. This place really shows off the Black Hills, the scenery is beautiful. The staff is hands down the best as well and communication was spectacular. I emailed the manager many times throughout planning the wedding and he responded promptly every single email. I can't say enough good things about this venue and neither can our guests. We loved it and so did they!

Everyone was wonderful. Very helpful and Jordan was happy to help me with all of my questions no matter how many emails I sent him! Beautiful beautiful beautiful. It was the best day I could ask for!

K Bar S Lodge was everything we could have hoped for and more for our wedding day. It has the truest Black Hills feel of all the venues we visited. It was important to us to have our ceremony, reception, and lodging all in our beautiful Black Hills retreat- and that is KBArS exactly. Our ceremony was outdoors with a background of Black Hills spruce and pine trees, and rocks. We had a deer walk behind us right after our wedding. The reception hall was perfect for our 200 guests that enjoyed the vaulter ceilings, views of the Black Hills from every window, wrap around deck with seating, fire pit, and spacious bar and restroom facilities throughout the venue. Our food was top notch and so delicious. Jordan, our wedding coordinator with KBArS was fantastic. He was always so attentive and helpful through the two crazy years of planning. The entire staff at KBArS is so kind and helpful. The rooms were clean, spacious, and had their own fantastic views of Mount Rushmore which was great for our guests from out of town, and the locals loved it too! Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend! We will be coming back yearly for our anniversary to visit and relive our perfect day.

Amazing venue! The backdrop of all the trees in the meadow makes the ceremony so surreal! The staff is incredible, our wedding day couldn't have been anymore perfect!

This venue was perfect for us. It was so nice to have everything in one place. The staff was great to work with and very accommodating. There was a slight mix up with the food but it was resolved and it was delicious! Our guests couldn't stop raving about how beautiful it was. I would definitely recommend this venue!

K Bar S was the most beautiful venue I had found in the Black Hills! I got so many compliments on it from my guests and people who only saw pictures. The only issue at first was that you are unable to use any other caterers than their's but come wedding day, the food was absolutely AMAZING and I've been craving it ever since!

The location is absolutely beautiful! We were married in the meadow in July, the weather was perfect. The staff was friendly and extremely accommodating. There are multiple choices for where and when to be married. We taste tested the food and had many great options. The meal was perfect and hot! We stayed in the honeymoon sweet and our wedding ran smooth and flawless.

Our wedding here was great! We had both the ceremony and reception on site. We did have a few issues with some staff members, but overall I would recommend this venue!

My now hubby and I loved getting married at this beautiful location! It is located in the black hills by Mount Rushmore. We had an indoor ceremony in their indoor gazebo, which has huge windows all around it. The food was great, the staff was nice, and the outdoor feel inside was exactly what we wanted for both the ceremony and reception. The biggest issues I ran into was that the wedding coordinator allowed another wedding to take place a couple hours before mine. It was a last minute wedding, but it interfered with my pictures, vendors, and wedding party. I was very disappointed, finding out the week of my wedding that they were doing this. Outside of this mishap, everything went great!
