If you're thinking about getting married at Kalmar Village, I strongly suggest that you reconsider.
The venue requires a property buyout, which was totally fine and is something ...
that initially drew us to the venue. Nina and David both told us the minimum night stay was 2 nights for all cottages besides 10 cottages that would be 3 nights. Based on this, we put a deposit down to secure our date. A full 3 weeks later (after booking a photographer and a coordinator for that date), they finally sent us the contract that was completely different from what we discussed. Cottages we were told were 2 night minimum stays were now 4 and 5 night minimums. Which is absolutely crazy for end of September. The cottages are VERY old and not somewhere I personally wanted to stay for 5 nights, so I wasn't going to force my family to do the same. If we had known about a 5 night minimum, we never would've put down a deposit.
When I brought this up to Nina, she said these have always been the terms even though they didn't match what we had been told. I offered a compromise of a 3 night minimum for more rooms than we had discussed, but she refused. She was so rude and even tried to blame my parents for "misunderstanding".
Ultimately we decided not to sign the contract because if they were this difficult to deal with in the beginning, it would have only gotten worse. They refused to give us our deposit back even though they did absolutely nothing for us.
The whole thing felt very misleading and disorganized. Definitely get EVERYTHING in writing before giving them any money.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL wedding venue. We had the most breathtaking wedding at Kalmar, with our tent on the sand. There were a lot of logistics to keep in line, so I definitely recomm...
end a planner/coordinator to help (Olivia from Brent Events is INCREDIBLE). David and the staff were very nice, and quite helpful during the wedding weekend. It was a little bit of a pain for guests to book cottages (and they are a little rustic) but overall it was the absolute best weekend!
Perfect! Kalmar Village was the perfect venue for our post pandemic wedding celebration. We were able to plan our wedding within a month when David had another cancellation for Jun...
12, 2021. Working with David was a breeze! He is incredibly kind and answered all of our questions. He even gave us a great suggestion for the rehearsal dinner as well. We brought in a tent, catering, DJ and rentals to host the wedding and reception directly on the beach. All of our guests raved about how beautiful everything was. The cabins were the perfect quintessential Cape Cod experience with knotty pine walls and views of the ocean. I would highly recommend Kalmar Village for your wedding! We can't wait to make a return visit for years to come. It is an incredibly beautiful location.
This venue is nothing short of magical if you are looking for a place to have your wedding right on the beach. The raw Cape Cod beauty and amazing sunsets here added such a perfect...
feel to our day. The cabins are cozy and clean as well. If you are the type of person looking for a place that is essentially a blank slate with gorgeous views where you can make your wedding exactly the way you want it, this is the place. We heard from guests all night long that this was the best wedding they’d ever been to. It really is a hidden gem and we would highly recommend Kalmar Village. ❤️
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect location for our beach wedding. This venue definitely isn’t for everyone - you’re pretty much building a venue from the ground up (tent, c...
hairs, ceremony set up, etc.). It was worth every extra minute of planning we had to do, though. The beach is absolutely breathtaking and it was so nice to have all of our guests staying in one place. We also didn’t want a typical venue where we were one of two or three weddings in one day. We were able to put our personal touch on our wedding and that was one of the best parts. Given that this is a seasonal venue, there were times where it was hard to get in touch with management - they also responded eventually though. The staff was also more than helpful on the weekend of our wedding, and they were extremely accommodating to both us and all of our guests. If you’re looking for a beautiful, unique beach wedding this is definitely the spot!!
