I used the Hyvee in Mission (6655 Martway St) for cake, desserts, and bouquets. Everything turned out great and was affordable! I live out of state, so I was not able to come in to discuss what I wanted for the cake or the bouquets. Even though I only spoke with them via phone and e-mail, both the cake and bouquets turned out just like I had imagined. I would highly recommend working with this Hyvee location.
This HyVee did the florals and desserts for a wedding that I coordinated as a wedding planner, and they did a phenomenal job! The staff was wonderful to work with, the florals were beyond expectation, and there was no cake left by the end of the night (which is ALWAYS a good sign)!
I utilized the Shawnee branch off of Shawnee Mission Parkway and Pflumm for my December wedding. The cake was, eh, okay, but I found it somewhat difficult to communicate with the bakery over the phone and in person. It was also a bit difficult to ensure things were coordinated between the floral department and the cake department. However, if you use all thee departments (floral, bakery, and catering) you do get 10% off your entire purchase.

Hy-Vee customer service and pricing is unmatched. They had only two week notice for our wedding :) (a procrastinating bride). They answered all calls and emails promptly. Their pricing is far more affordable than others and the quality is just as good. We were very pleased with the final product. We only heard positive feedback from guests!
I chose Hy-Vee in Overland Park to do my wedding cake and it looked and tasted amazing!!! I did almond cake with champagne filling and white butter cream frosting. My husband LOVEd the way the almond taste turned out! They delieved the cake promptly the day of the wedding and it looked exactly as I had imagined. If you’re looking for a beautiful, yummy AND affordable cake then definitely go to Hy-Vee!
Linda from the Hy-Vee in Lee's Summit off of SW 3rd street made our wedding cake. We did an almond cake with champagne filling and an ivory buttercream frosting. She was incredible to work with and made our planning easy and stress free. The cake was a three tiered round cake with a light ivory buttercream diagonal textured frosting. She placed beautiful flowers our florist supplied and our cake topper at the venue. We did three sheet cakes for our guests, each piece of sheet cake had a blush pink rosebud made from frosting on top. The Hy-Vee catering team cut and served the cake to our guests. We wanted an elegant wedding and Linda exceeded our cake expectations. I definitely recommend Hy-Vee for all wedding needs!
We had the Hy-Vee on 95th and Antioch do our catering, flowers and cake and i could not have been more pleased. To this day, people still talk to us about how great the food was. The flowers were gorgeous and the cake was super yummy. Cindy and her team did a tremendous job!!
Flowers:
Wow!! I was so pleased with the flowers that Sheryl at HyVee Mission provided for my wedding! I had a few pictures of what I wanted, but meeting with Sheryl really helped me nail down the design and the bouquets that she produced were even prettier than I imagined. As we were standing at the altar during our wedding, I was appreciating how beautiful the altar piece was! I also appreciated Sheryl's follow up - anytime we spoke before the wedding she was on top of all of the details and called me the day before to confirm times, etc. Outstanding!
Cake:
Brenda was extremely helpful - we met live to discuss cake options and talked on the phone a few times leading up to the wedding. We purchased a 3 tier cake and a couple of half sheet cakes in various flavors for our reception and I couldn't have been happier with the way these turned out. We received several compliments on the cake design and it perfectly matched the design ideas Brenda & I discussed. This was a great value & I would gladly recommend them.
Hy-Vee does an outstanding job at creating beautiful wedding cakes. Not only are the cakes delicious, but they are pieces of art as well. I was stunned when I saw what a beautiful job Brenda did making out 3 tiered cake with a flower petal designs in the frosting. It turned out exactly like the picture I showed her from pintrest. The team can decorate your cake however you wish, which was unexpected for a grocery store bakery department. You can even get multiple flavors such as, red velvet or carrot cake! Hy-Vee cakes are beautiful, delicious, and affordable. Whats not to love?
Morgan B and her team did SUCH a wonderful job on our bouquets, wedding party table centerpiece, flowers for groomsmen, and corsages. We gave her some specifics, but she was very creative and helpful when we were indecisive! Very kind, polite, and got things finished and delivered when they said they would. Super affordable as well. Would recommend to anyone!
The people at Hy-Vee were very helpful when I met with them. I don't know anything about flowers and they were able to pick out some beautiful options for me. On the day of, they weren't quite the color I had expected, but they were still very nice and still in our color palette so it worked out. They were a little slow to respond via email. But they also were able to fulfill my order relatively close to the wedding after my original florist fell through, which I really appreciated.
Mark was just a dream to work with! He was so friendly and helpful and made the whole process of choosing our menu easy. People loved the food and they did a great job serving it. We are enjoying our leftovers now.
Our wedding vendor alerted us to the fact that Hy-Vee does wedding cakes. I was concerned at first. How can a grocery store do an appropriate wedding cake? Actually, Hy-Vee does an annual "cake decorating contest" among all their stores and they have some amazing cake decorators!
We were really lucky to work with Brenda, now at the Mission Hy-Vee. She is fun, down-to-earth, and knows what is important for brides and weddings. When you first contact her, you will set up a consultation. At that time, she will ask about all your desires, tell you what is possible (almost anything is), and tell you how much that will cost. Then you will leave (or you can eat them there) with samples (actual standard-sized cupcakes!) of each flavor to try.
I was surprised about how moist and yummy the cake was coming from a grocery store.
Afterward, she will schedule a "touch-base" call to see if you have decided to get your cake with them and finalize all details (flavors, decorations, etc).
For a (very) small fee, they will even deliver your cake!
You really can have cake that is just as yummy and pretty as expensive bakers, much cheaper.
Mark at the Mission Hy-Vee was great to work with! They provided appetizers and the meal for our reception. Everything was delicious and hot!
I work nearby and would stop by to make payments or ask questions and the staff is always so friendly and helpful.
We tasted similar menus at 4 different caterers. Only one other had comparable food quality and it was substantially more expensive. Hy-Vee is a great value!
