Hey there! I'm Kara Hanes, owner and lead photographer at Kara Hanes Photography, a wedding photography business based in Allendale, MI. I'm born and raised in West Michigan; however, don't let that fool you because I love to travel wherever my client's love stories lead me. I've been photographing weddings for 10+ years, and I get more and more excited with each and every one of them.
I used to be a preschool teacher but quickly experienced the burnout when my children were the same age. I learned so much from that time in my life, and it influences my work as a photographer. As a preschool teacher, I learned how to multitask while the never-ending chaos was happening. I know how to obtain gentle authority when needed but also how to step back and let moments happen as they were intended. These are exactly the skills needed for a good wedding photography experience! I communicate often and when necessary, and I promise to make every moment of your special day fun and enjoyable.

These booklets help you to know what to expect on the day of the wedding regarding: first looks, what to have ready for the detail shots, timelines and so much more.
