This was the worst experience I’ve had. Karen forgot various parts of what I wanted in my dress, she made promises that she couldn’t keep. And, after struggling with an eating disorder for many years Karen told me I was fat and, “didn’t want to make my dress tighter because she didn’t want me to have back rolls. I was only supposed to have 3-4 alterations appointment and I had seven. My dress did not require seven appointments. There were various appointments where nothing had been done to the dress in between sessions leaving me burnt out and distressed about my dress. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here. All other staff here are excellent and so so kind.

Karen saved my engagement photos dress, and was an absolute pleasure to work with! I was very nervous when my *custom* dress came in too tight, but Karen was able to fix the dress in record time before our photos! I’m grateful for her diligence and patience in getting my dress ready for our photos and would highly recommend!

Karen Hendrix came highly recommended to me and she did not disappoint! I had 4 fittings over the course of 5 months and my dress fit perfectly! Karen and her staff are so kind, welcoming and professional. Karen made me feel so special and lovely each time I saw her. She is absolutely delightful and so talented. Karen and team did an absolutely fabulous job with my wedding gown, rehearsal dinner dress, and after party dress. Their attention to detail, kindness, and expertise were so appreciated. My gown had a lace layer over crepe, and because it needed to be hemmed, Karen and team worked to hand remove each lace detail and thoughtfully reattach it above the hemline. Karen was a joy to work with, and I cannot recommend her more highly!

Where to start, working with Karen and her team has been amazing. Their communication was awesome and the work impeccable. I started with a mermaid style bridal gown with a long train. My vision was to cut off the train and add an overskirt to have two different styles and they made my vision come to life. The main gown looks incredible with the long line of buttons ending perfectly at the hem and you never would’ve know we changed up the style-the structure of the bottom looks so gorgeous and the overskirt was hemmed perfectly to fit me. It also allows me to not have to bustle my primary gown because it’s detachable for dinner/reception. Working with Karen and her team was so lovely. Karen’s pinning is just incredible, she takes such pride in her work and it shows in the final product. I felt so welcomed and had an amazing experience, I went in uncertain what I was envisioning would work, but left feeling so confident and beautiful in my gown!

I had an incredible experience working with Karen, Savannah, and Shetara. Even though I had such minor alterations for my wedding dress, they still gave me their full attention and treated me with respect and professionalism. They were so helpful in teaching my sister and I how to bustle. And one of the best parts was that they didn’t even blink and eye when I asked for a pocket to hold my insulin pump, which—I’ll add—hid my pump perfectly!

Karen and her whole team really are the absolute best. They are so professional and so sweet and seriously the BEST at what they do, such perfectionists. They went above and beyond for me and stayed late to finish my dress and would not let me leave til it was perfect and I appreciate their hard work so much. I traveled from out of state to come get my wedding dress worked on by them and it was worth all the time and money. They made the experience so fun and perfect. Shout out to Dana also, the sweetest funniest seamstress who will cry at you in your dress more than you! Love them!

We took my daughters bridal dress to Karen Hendrix based on the reviews and recommendation from where we bought the dress thinking she would be the best person to work on a very expensive designer bridal dress for alterations. Karen was always very pleasant and we were so happy with our first appointment but it went downhill from there. Karen takes the measurements and does the pinning and then dictates directions into her phone to be done by her staff. That is where the disconnect comes in. Karen is not doing the majority of the work and you may have someone working on it who she is training. She is also not following up checking the work done. It is fair to say the work looked shoddy. Basically, almost everything that was done was done incorrectly. We brought the dress in 4 months early because we made it clear we wanted the dress at least 2 weeks before the wedding. Fittings were incorrect, appointments canceled and delayed. She took the joy out of having a dream wedding dress experience. Truly was a nightmare. They basically had to redo all the shoddy work the last appointment which was less than 48 hours to the wedding. To name a few of the errors: waist taken in too tight, zipper and hook in the back put back so it was sticking out exposed for all to see where before it was seamless, random threads everywhere, scrunched up siding that should be smooth, the bustle was 100% wrong and not what we discussed and straps were not adjusting correctly as we discussed. Meanwhile we missed dinner with out of town family guests because we had to wait for this dress for 4 hours and retry it on again with more corrections! The had 4 months to work on the dress and practically had to redo everything in the last 48 hours and acted as if they were doing us a favor by working late to finish it. The bustle did not stay up for the wedding. The buttons were sewn on loose and the snaps for the under layers did not stay snapped. My daughter had to go into the bathroom 3 times to literally sew the dress together. Disappointment is an understatement and I would NEVER recommend taking any dress there for alterations. I also feel we should get a refund for the almost $900 she charged but I am certain that won’t happen since it was already paid in full.

I would highly highly recommend going to see Karen and her team! Her and her team treated me as if I was the only bride getting married. They were extremely attentive and flexible. The quality of work was immaculate and the service is top notch. I am trruly going to miss seeing them every other month. I can't thank them more for taking one less item off my plate to worry about. Please give them a call, you will NOT regret it for a second!!! Love you Karen and team!!

I brought a dress to Karen for alterations and could not be more pleased. She is invested in every detail. The fabric and lining of my dress were extremely hard to work with and she pulled out every trick in the book to get it to lay just right. I very much appreciated her perfectionism and willingness to spend the time and extra effort to get it just right. Plus, she and her staff are just delightful. Highly recommend!

Karen is incredible. I've always had a hard time finding dresses that fit me well and was very nervous about my wedding dress looking good on me. My experience with Karen and her team was absolutely incredible. My dress was a big/poofy gal, so I had approximately 5-6 sessions to get everything just right for my big day. One appointment I distinctly recall Karen on the floor picking through each feather detail of my gown to ensure it all was hemmed properly and looked cohesive with the entire dress. Karen is meticulous and works VERY hard to make sure your dress fits you like a glove, as it should for your big day! 5/5 stars!! Bravo!!

Karen Hendrix is absolutely AMAZING!!! I feel compelled to share my story with current and future brides. When I found Karen, I had already spent over five months in a large variety of bridal shops all over Tennessee. I was starting to get a little discouraged due to me not finding the "perfect dress". For all your mothers that are looking for the perfect dress for your children’s weddings… Look no further. I have found the designer for you. I had searched and searched online for a mother of the groom dress for my son’s wedding and could not find the perfect one for me. Karen Hendrix Couture came highly recommended to me and I saw where she created beautiful mothers gowns. In my first consultation appointment with Karen she made a sketch using the ideas that were most important to me. She assured me that we could accentuate the positive attributes of my figure and erase the negative. She took 23 measurements to assure a perfect fit. I chose a beautiful soft gray matte satin fabric with a matching chiffon overlay. The movement was important to me because of my mother- son dance. The next step in this process, she is making a wearable muslin pattern. This will be the first time that I will see my actual dress. In this step she is altering it to me to insure a perfect fit. The next step in this process is the first fabric fitting. This is where we set the details for the final design. The Final fitting will be the finished gown. The wedding is in July and I will be sending my second review along with the pictures of my beautiful gown. Thank you Karen for being the answer to my prayers.

Karen Hendrix Couture was the best experience I have ever had with a couture designer and seamstress. Karen and her staff did the alterations on my daughter’s Italian lace princess style wedding gown(that had 12 layers of toule underneath the skirting) She also did my MOB gown as well as my MOG gown(for my son’s wedding). From the moment I met Karen;I knew I was in good hands. Her knowledge, time and care she spent on our dresses as we discussed what needed to be done was so thorough. She was so creative with design ideas on my dresses. I trusted her because she as such impeccable taste and has so much knowledge with couture dress design. I also knew my daughter’s wedding gown would be altered properly and with tender loving care. She was so pleasant and kind with a very calming and sweet personality. There is no one on earth that I would want touching my wedding dress other than Karen Hendrix!!! I have known Karen for over 20 years so I don't just know about her superb and elegant work with bridal gowns, I know what a lovely, warm, and kind person she is personally. I was in her wedding when I was a young woman and she made my bridesmaid dress for her wedding. It was one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever worn. When it was my turn to get married, she altered my dress and made me feel like a princess because it fit like a glove on my wedding day. Unfortunately, I went through a divorce in 2018 but I found the most amazing man I've ever met in 2020 and will be marrying him in June of 2023!!! I was so excited to call Karen and get on her schedule to not only do my alterations but help me create two looks with my dress, one for the ceremony and one for the reception. We have been talking about adding sleeves or a large overlay skirt to my dress that can be removed for the reception and I am SO EXCITED! Karen made sure that my dress fit me like a glove. Her schedule is very booked with brides, but she knew that I needed a few more fittings to make my dress perfect. And that's just what she did! There is no one else I would trust with such an important part of my day. She was also able to design me a custom veil that was perfect with my dress!

By the time Karen was done with it, it looked like it had been custom-made for me. Karen and her team were amazing! I had the idea to alter my mother's wedding dress to wear to my rehearsal dinner. It had giant puffy sleeves and was very 80s. Karen listened to my vision, but then made even better recommendations. When I saw the dress when she finished, it was completely transformed! She kept all the special and sentimental details (lace and beading details on the sleeve, satin roses on the skirt, etc.) but updated the look by shortening the dress to make it a high-low style and taking out the puffy satin in the sleeves. When part of the project was going to be over my budget, Karen worked with me and did some of the alterations as a gift, free of charge! I am SO thankful I found her and am so excited about the way my mom's dress turned out that I might even be wearing it to the ceremony instead of the rehearsal dinner!

Karen was so fantastic and amazing to work with! I asked Karen to help with wedding gown alterations and then a special project to sew lace from my mother's wedding gown onto my own. Not only was she able to take a dress that was probably 2-3 sized to big down, but she made the most beautiful custom belt out of my mother's lace that made the whole gown so special to me. I had so much fun at every appointment, and Karen's team was so sweet and flexible when I had to change appointments. Karen also does amazing couture work in addition to alterations- definitely hire her if you have any custom dream you want to make come to life- she's amazing!

Karen and her team made me feel so comfortable and made my wedding dress dreams possible! I loved the dress I chose but was worried about it being see through/with only a body suit underneath. Karen was able to make a nude underskirt for additional coverage but without taking away from the look of the dress. I cannot wait to show off my dress on my wedding day!

Had to reschedule my original wedding due to Covid. With the smaller elopement style wedding, I decided to go with a new dress to fit the theme more. Luckily for me, Karen Hendrix Couture was very reasonably priced AND delivered on being one of the most magical experiences of planning. I will never forget how special Karen and Lisa made me feel the first time I put on my dress there. I remember closing my eyes and feeling like an actual bride for the first time. They really listened to what I wanted while offering gentle suggestions. My dress had stitchings of delicate flowers and beading and I wanted to add the same look to my waist. They spent hours looking and found flowers and beads that matched my dress EXACTLY, which they intricately added to my waist line. They hemmed the dress perfectly with my shoes and the French bustle was stunning. We also had an heirloom veil that they refurbished which will make it last so much longer!!! Trusting them was SO EASY because of their experience and kindness, and my dress turned out better than I could’ve imagined. Thank y’all so much!!! 100/10

Karen & her ladies are absolutely amazing!! My wedding dress alterations were a little complicated to say the least. Long story short, my dress did not fit “my girls” (as Karen would say) at all. The only way to fix it was to get more fabric, we ended up getting a whole new bodice. Karen & her staff spent countless hours sewing beading into blank spaces & making sure everything was perfect & I was 100% comfortable. My dress is now absolutely perfection & it’s all because of Karen Hendrix Couture & their amazing work!!

When I picked my dress, I knew it was going to be a long process to make it perfect for our wedding day, and there is no one I trusted more than Karen and her team. They are miracle workers! I needed the upper part of my dress lined as well as it hemmed and cut to fit my short torso. After a long history with ill-fitting formal dresses, I was nervous but quickly discovered I could trust Karen to make it right. Karen and her team not only cut the most beautiful sweetheart lining for my dress, but were able to adjust the lace overlay to fit correctly on my short torso and back. She didn't give up or settle for second best - she worked to make it right time and time again. I am so thankful to them for making this dress my dream. Cannot recommend them enough!

Karen and her team are AMAZING! I felt important and special every step of the way. I had a couple appointments with the team to make sure my wedding dress was perfect. Even through COVID, Karen and her team were willing to help every step of the way. My wedding unfortunately had to be pushed back a whole year, but Karen was so helpful and allowed me to complete my fittings so that my dress will be ready for me for my wedding next year. My dress is more beautiful than I could ever imagine now that it is fitted! I had to have the hips brought in a little bit, the straps shortened, and my dress shortened quite a bit because I'm very small. My dress now fits me like a glove! Karen is so personable and so sweet. I wish I could write for days about her because they deserve it. If you bring your dress to her, you can be confident that it will turn out PERFECT!

There are so many amazing things I can say about Karen and her team. They not only did an incredible job on the alterations with my dress, but added special touches and worked with me on making our wedding day extra special. Karen Hendrix and her team did the alterations for my wedding dress this fall and they were great! Karen is a very talented designer and tailor, and all of her team was kind and professional. They did a great job with my dress and their pricing was very reasonable. I needed the top neckline trimmed down, the inner corset taken in, and a bustle added (American). They also added a new comb to my mother’s old veil. They did a really nice job with all of it. The neckline part was a little tricky, and they discussed different options with me made good suggestions up front. We had several fittings to make sure everything went right. Then they steamed my dress and stored it (laid out so it wouldn’t wrinkle!) before my wedding day. Overall they were very caring and competent and I enjoyed working with them!

Karen & her team of seamstresses were unbelievable! They took great care of me & made my dress fit the exact way I wanted it to. The dress' faux button's over the zipper, naturally bent away (instead of covering the zipper up) due to the zipper's structure. I didn't want it to lay this way, because when it was on, it made it appear that the dress was too tight, which wasn't the case at all. Karen made adjustments to the dress & added extra hooks to make this fabric lay flat so that I was not uncomfortable in my dress the day of. Her team works to go above & beyond for her clients.

Working with Karen Hendrix was perfection. She took an oversized couture gown ordered from a exclusive Nashville wedding dress shop and turned it into my daughter’s dream dress. The illusion lace sleeves looked like part of her body and the back was gorgeous. She made every appointment a pleasure. I highly recommend Karen Hendrix Couture. I look forward to working with her again in the future with my second daughter. She makes dreams come true.

My daughter had gone to two local tailors and one wouldn’t touch her dress, the other would just chop off all the detail on the bottom to shorten the dress.....Feeling defeated, my daughter called Karen and knew from the first call that Karen was the right person to make her wedding gown perfect! She always made me feel calm and I somehow I ended up looking forward to my fittings! My dress was exactly what I had wanted but better because of Karen's personal touches and ideas. I feel so lucky to have met her and worked with her during such a special and stressful season of life! She was the best decision I made during the wedding process! :)

I was so disappointed in this experience. I brought my dress here for alterations, because she does custom dresses so I thought she could make the significant alterations I was needing. She was certainly skilled enough to accomplish the changes, but she repeatedly(!!!) forgot what we had discussed. In my first appointment, she offered to create a pocket in my dress, and we agreed that she would fix the sleeves, and remove a layer of the crinoline. When I came to my next fitting, she offered again to create a pocket, had not fixed the sleeves, and had not removed the layer of crinoline. Not only had she not done these things, but she seemed to have forgotten that she said she would. At this fitting, she re-wrote down that she was going to do these things, and pinned the hem but said she wouldn't hem it until the layer of crinoline was removed in case it messed with the skirt. She also found a way to charge me another $75 even though at my first fitting she said I was paid in full. I show up for my next fitting and she says "okay are we ready for pickup?" -- but I was not supposed to pick it up because it was not supposed to be hemmed yet! So I said this, and went to try on my dress, and SHE STILL HAD NOT REMOVED THE CRINOLINE. This time she did it right there in front of me, but I still had to wait several more weeks to see it hemmed, and twice more she forgot to remove the manufacturer's bra cups, until, on the day of pickup, I reminded her. All in all, she forgot MULTIPLE times what she said she was going to do, despite writing it down in her voice-dictated phone message system (which does not seem to be working). I hate my dress, and I'm getting married next week and still never got pockets. So. Disappointed.

Karen is an absolute gem! My dress needed a ton of work as I bought it off the rack and it was about 6 sizes too big for me. Additionally, it was all lace and had to be shortened. Karen did an amazing job, you would never know the dress was too big for me originally, it fit perfectly and I was so comfortable all day. She spent so much time with me and it never felt rushed, she paid attention to detail and pointed out things even I didn't notice. She always greeted me with the biggest smile and I couldn't be happier with the way my dress turned out. I highly recommend Karen to any bride. You will not regret it!

Karen Hendrix is absolutely AMAZING!!! I feel compelled to share my story with current and future brides. When I found Karen, I had already spent over five months in a large variety of bridal shops all over Tennessee. I was starting to get a little discouraged due to me not finding the “perfect dress”. Yes, I did come across some dress that were absolutely amazing, but these dress were also out of my price range or the alterations I would’ve needed to make would’ve been way too expensive. It had come down to me having to buckle down and get a dress so I would have one in time for my wedding, and so I tried Google. I went to a couple of dress makers, but their work wasn’t up to par or when I describe to them the kind of dress I wanted they would tell me they couldn’t do that due to my bust or it wouldn’t flatter my figure. To be honest, if I am the one getting married and paying for the dress, I should be able to have any dress I want regardless of what my body shape looked like. I tried one more dress place which was called Karen Hendrix Couture. I really had lost all hope in finding a dress at this point, but I decided to contact them anyway. When I first got there Karen was so welcoming and warm. She really made me feel at home. I voiced my concerns to her about me not being able to find a dress that had all the things I wanted and she listened and began to sketch as I talked. Next thing I knew, Karen had drew my dream dress. There was no holding back on my vision of the perfect wedding dress nor did she make me feel like there was nothing I wanted that she couldn’t make work for my figure. Karen gave me back the faith I needed in making sure I would look perfect on my wedding day. At the end of my first dress fitting appointment, it was late in the day, Karen was about to leave out with me and she stopped and said we must pray before we leave. With me being a preacher’s kid, this meant everything to me that she spread not only the love for her brides, but a love for our creator. Every appointment with Karen was fun, exciting to the mind, and filled with love, hard work and care for all I wanted in my dress. My dress turned out amazing. It was more than I expected it to be and I feel like I owe Karen more than what my dress was worth due to all the hard work she put into my dress and the indescribable feeling I felt when I put my dress on the day of my wedding. I enjoyed my experience so much with Karen that I still keep in contact with her months after my wedding. I really feel like my dress should be featured in Premier Bride or Wedding Style magazine. The details and hard work Karen puts into each bride’s dress is not just a show. Karen works on dresses well into the late hours to make sure that everything is perfect. She takes dresses home to work on them and spends endless hours in doing so. On my wedding day, Karen came to make sure that my dress fit perfectly and that it looked good in pictures. My daughter purchased her dress from a local boutique who ordered the wrong size dress and didn't order the specialty lace they said they would to make the off the shoulder sleeves. The boutique treated her horribly when the mistakes were discovered but thankfully they connected us to Karen. She and her team stepped in and gave my daughter confidence that they would make it all right. They worked with her and hand cut lace to piece together and make perfect sleeves with hand sewn eyelash edges. They tried everything to fix the dress, but could not. Karen dealt with the store and got them to have the designer overnight the only other dress they had in that style. So, a week before the wedding Karen received the same dress in a a size three sizes too big. They worked hours and hours to make the deadline of the wedding and added fittings after their normal hours. They delivered a stunning dress in time for the wedding. We are grateful for all of them and would recommend them to anyone who needs an excellent wedding dress seamstress. They went above and beyond in every way.

Where to even start?! Karen is a LITERAL fairy god mother. I looked forward to every appointment- they calmed any nerves I was feeling because she radiates kindness and there’s a peacefulness about her. It was more than just getting my dress to fit PERFECTLY- it was the genuine care she has for her brides and the art work she does on dresses. She’s an artist and an inspiration. I recommend her 1000000/10 ! Put your dress in her hands, you will not be disappointed and the appointments will be refreshing while planning a wedding. She made my dress more perfect than I ever thought it could be! I am so thankful I found her- there is no one better!

My experience was very positive and Karen and her ladies did lovely alterations on my wedding dress. So much attention to detail to make sure you look absolutely stunning in your dress and that it fits like it was made for you. My only gripe was that I requested and mentioned a number of times that I would like the hem to be off the ground so that I wouldn't step on it while walking/dancing and that request was shot down and denied every time. On my wedding day I stepped on it so many times I'm surprised I didn't rip it. All those beautiful ballroom dance lessons just to dance in a basic box pattern so that I wouldn't fall on my face.

My best friend is getting married this weekend, and this alterations company has been the most stressful part of the entire thing. First of all, the alterations cost was much more expensive than other companies in town, but she paid the cost because she wanted her dress to be perfect. Karen has had this dress for months, and when it was finally ready ONE WEEK before her big day, we got to the final appointment and it still wasn't done. Karen didn't even call to tell her it wasn't going to be done before she got to the appointment all excited to take it home with her. Also, once she tried it on, another bridesmaid and I found multiple things that needed to be adjusted. The beads on the back didn't cover the zipper and it was crooked, and the bottom of the beads needed to be adjusted as well, as it didn't line up. The lace wasn't sewn on the bottom, there were still pins EVERYWHERE, we couldn't even really practice doing the bustling because even that wasn't done!! So she swears to my best friend that it will be done Tuesday (which means Katie has to make a 3 hour round trip AGAIN during her wedding week into town to get this dress, and then guess what happens? Karen calls this morning to say it still won't be done. My best friend is sobbing, she's so stressed, and Karen blatantly tells her that she's overbooked herself and there's no way it'll be done today. On Friday, we asked if it could be picked up Sunday, and Karen said they're closed that day. In my opinion, I don't give a flip if you're closed, if you promise a bride something, you make it happen, especially this close to her wedding day. I'm so disappointed in this "business." Just a warning to future brides to stay away from this woman who doesn't come through on her promises, does shotty work, and WAY overcharges. SO disappointed!!

Karen was AMAZING!! You have to really trust someone to give them your beautiful gown you just spent so much on and let me tell you I would trust her to do my dress 100 times! My wedding was in September and I first went to meet with her in April. After that I went in once a month and we adjusted accordingly. She turned a dress that I already thought was beautiful into a STUNNING dress that fit me like a glove. I was so impressed with how she altered my dress to fit me. She’s so nice and makes you feel like you’re her only dress she’s working on. I am going to give her my dress to have it preserved as well!

Karen is a miracle worker to say the least!!!!! I was so sad when I got my dress in and it was two small. I just thought I would have to deal with it and that nothing could be done but little did I know Karen can fix pretty much everything!! I was about in tears when I came to her and I left smiling from ear to ear! She is the best seamstress I know and she’s also the sweetest! Her and her team are fabulous!

I highly recommend working with Karen and her team for your alterations! She was thorough and considered all the details of the dress. She wasn't happy until every little detail was perfect! The dress fit great on my wedding day and I didn't have any issues. Especially with a strapless dress, it was important to get it fitted correctly. Her assistant Miriam was easy to communicate with and helped me book appointments with my busy work schedule.

I cannot say enough about Karen! She really is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet and makes the most beautiful dresses you've ever seen. I initially bought my daughters wedding dress at a shop in Nashville. We ordered extra lace and fabric to make alterations to her dress that Karen was gonna do. Well one week before her wedding and wrong lace and no material, and wrong viel, Karen steppped in and saved the day! She started from scratch and made my daughter a beautiful wedding dress within a week! I literally don’t know what we would have done without her! She really is the fairy Godmother to brides!!

3 weeks before my wedding, I found out my wedding dress that I had bought 10 months prior had been compromised by a different alterations lady. Saying I was upset would be an understatement. I was so scared and nervous that I wouldn't have a dress for our wedding that was only 21 days away and I didn't know what to do. That's when we met Karen. The bridal salon we bought the original dress from sent me to her and she became my wedding fairy godmother. In 21 days she worked with us to fix the old dress so we can sell it again and helped alter a completely new dress (different story) last minute. She is such a calming, nurturing spirit that immediately put me at ease because I knew we were in good hands. I will be forever grateful for Karen squeezing me in last minute and helping make our big day so special and memorable. If you need ANY bridal or formal wear alterations, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not going with Karen Hendrix. She is amazing!

Karen is truely magical! I do. It live in TN so I was only in for a short period of time to pick up my dress and get it to alterations before I had to head back to TX.
