I have always loved looking at photo albums. Whether they were mine or not, I loved the ability to visit a time I forgot, a time I wasn't old enough to remember, or one that existed before me. The photograph is a powerful piece of history and our way to experience the world. It gives proof that we were here, and we had wonderful life experiences together. The fact that I have a career that allows me to do this for others is not something that is lost on me. I believe very strongly in the power and impact these images we create together have, not only for us, but for all those people we hold close to our hearts. These images will far outlast us, and allow our families to go back and relive everything that you have created together.

What made me stop with Kate was a true sense of feeling, that she wasn’t just pressing the shutter on a happy couple, but you could actually feel the energy of that couple lifting from the photo, and that her images weren’t just a shot, but each one was individually a work of art. I thought it must be amazing to have not only an emotional photo of your wedding but also a truly artful one, with personality and romantic style.
Kate can capture something like that because she is a photography genius, and she is constantly pushing herself to do new techniques and shoots film! The film she shot for our engagement session was evocative and beautiful, and after seeing that we were completely relaxed for our wedding day. The engagement session was just 1 hour but it instilled confidence that she knew exactly what she was doing, and she made the absolute most of that 1 hour. Her personality is extremely warm and out-going. With all the craziness of your wedding day, it was nice to be able to completely trust her and Andy to direct the day. I was in a complete daze from the morning up until our vows were completed (that’s after 6 hours of photography). For me, having complete trust beforehand was not just calming but necessary.
What I like so much about Kate is that she understands the gravity of how important your wedding is to you, and even though she has done so many weddings, each one is treated individually. Wedding photos become family heirlooms, part of your own family’s mythology, and Kate feels genuinely excited and honored to be a part of that.
My family loved having Kate and Andy on our wedding day, and are still talking about how friendly and seamless they were on our special day. Although we have not seen the wedding photos yet, we are not worried. I wanted to put this review in as soon as I could so that any couples looking for a truly amazing photographer book Kate ASAP. Kate took both our engagement pictures and our wedding pictures. The engagement pictures were fun because we had time with just us and Kate. What I liked about Kate is that she gave us enough direction to look good in the photos, but not so much direction that we looked unnatural.
The wedding is a different story, because its a big day full of lots of people! Kate is amazing because she very nicely and politely takes charge of situations and tells people where they need to go. Also--for any potential brides--on your wedding day, you spend most of your day with the wedding photographer, so its important to choose someone you want to spend a lot of time with, and obviously we loved spending our day with Kate. Also, for whatever it is worth, on the day of my wedding I had rain in my mostly-outdoors venue and Kate totally made it work until the sun came out. She took beautiful pictures inside and under shelter until the sun came out.

She does a complimentary engagement shoot to get to know you and your significant other better and work on posing together. It felt awkward at the beginning of our engagement session since we had never done formals, but Kate quickly made the dynamic feel like we were old friends and we became really comfortable with her. Kate wears many hats and is much more than a photographer. just say her photos are great would be short changing her. Because lets be honest if her customer service skills were lacking, regardless of how well the pictures turn out, you wouldn't have any fun having them taken. And that's really the whole point right? to have fun? From a technical standpoint she is a mix between a directed and a candid photographer. She will tell direct you how to stand or position yourself, but all the facial expressions that she captures are candid true feelings/reactions. Which is exactly what we wanted. We wanted some help (because we have no idea how to be photogenic!)but we also didn't want to be bossed around and have fake smiles or expressions captured. Again, her outgoing personality is just so easy to get along with! She makes getting your pictures taken on a 100 degree July day (our wedding) a breeze, pun intended! And looking at the pictures you could tell if it was 100, or a cool 70 degrees. She is simply a Photography Magician! Not to mention she was willing to hang with us for 9 hours on that HOT (but extremely beautiful) day!

As many will attest, the process of planning a wedding can be daunting. So many details to attend to: the venue, the food, the flowers, the decorations, the music, the list goes on and on. However, when it’s all said and done t...
he most important detail (other than your spouse), is your photographer. At the end of the day, you will remember your experience through your photographs. There are a lot photographers who take nice pictures, but we wanted something more, we wanted an artist. And I’m happy to say we found that in Kate.
We had our initial phone appointment and Kate immediately put me at ease. We set-up our engagement session which she had lots of great ideas for. Most of us probably wouldn’t put having our picture taken as something we enjoy doing. However, Kate was a master at making us both feel comfortable, suggesting poses that put us in the best light, and made us forget we were having our picture taken. We spoke several times leading up to the wedding because Kate wanted to make sure she knew what we wanted and that she had the timeline down. As we worked through the details, Kate was so on top of things. We even discussed contingencies for if it rained, which it did. Every detail was explored and covered. I told my spouse if we were ever unsure what was supposed to be happening during the evening, we could just ask Kate because she’d know where or when we were supposed to be.
The bottom-line: Kate’s skill behind the camera, combined with her artistic touch and consummate professionalism ultimately gave us both the peace of mind to enjoy our day!

e from the moment we first met her at her home, our wedding colors were all over her home as well. She got to know us, which other photographers we interviewed could have cared less about. She was genuine in all ways. Our engagement session was downtown STL and she knew some really cool places to go and the shoots were amazing, she made us feel very comfortable and not embarrassed which I thought I would be, I don't like being the center of attention, especially around a lot of people. Then came the wedding, what an amazing day. We had a very small wedding party and we went to Lafayette Square Park and again she had the best ideas for photos. She was very good with my family and Nikki's family and everyone commented on how nice she was. We had our wedding and reception at Moulin and again she did her research and found some awesome shots to take. Our favorite one that we got put on a canvas was on the rooftop at Vin De Set. She was able to capture the love, the fun and even parts of the night at we missed. I am a nut about photos and she was able to photograph the whole night for us and our family. It was also very important to my husband and I that she didn't just say "Hey you" to our Bridal Party and parents. Kate took the time to write down the names of the individuals that were closest to us. This meant the world to them when she knew their name. She also asked for a shot list of things that were different or out of the ordinary that we wanted to capture. I was 100% assured that Kate had it under control and that I didn't have to worry about it - a true true blessing for a bride.
Our house is full of our STUNNING engagement and wedding pictures. We did buy many items but it is because they were so incredible and we truly wanted so many. Kate is by no means pushy in the buying process which also meant a lot to us.

one chance to meet her prior to the wedding (and the engagement session, which we had to cram in a few days before the wedding, but was a good warm up), but it wasn't a problem at all. On the day of the wedding, she and her "second" were unobtrusive in capturing candid shots but Kate was assertive when she needed to be in organizing group shots of the wedding party. She was quick and agile in staging group shots of groomsmen and others who are not used to posing for photographs, offering minor suggestions that improved composition without being cheesy. We took many of our formal shots in Forest Park prior to the ceremony and Kate knows all the good venues in the park, and we were able to hit several of them in the limited time we had that day-- including the grassy meadow where we got some gorgeous images.
Kate is also a skilled designer and did a terrific job with a very handsome album. We had a terrific experience and I would recommend her highly.

From the beginning, we trusted her -- not only because of her body of work, but also because I "clicked" with her when we met for our consult. She provided great ideas, but also listened when we had requests. It was a great balance of guiding us (in order to get the best photos) and collaborating with us (so that the images were not cheesy or impersonal).
Things got a little complicated six months prior to the wedding, when my then fiancé and I moved out of state. From that point on, all of our correspondence with Kate was via email and SKYPE. Although that sounds challenging, Kate was quick to respond to any questions, which put our minds at ease. She was also wonderful in helping us to scout locations for wedding day photos (since we were not able to do it ourselves from a distance).
We also loved the fact that Kate was willing to try to execute on our "vision" for our wedding photos, regardless of how silly some of our requests might have seemed. For example, we really wanted our album to look as "real" as possible, so instead of going to locations that we would never really go, we wanted to take photos with our friends/wedding party in a local lounge. This, of course, posed some issues for capturing beautiful photography (limited space, dim lighting, etc.), but Kate agreed to go to check out the location to see if she could make it work. In the end, she did, and she also recommended a few other spots that were amazing, as well (the alley in front of a speakeasy was a great spot, too)! The result was the most beautiful collection of photos I have ever seen -- Our album is amazing! It's exactly what we wanted.
Today, we have our favorite photo from the wedding hanging on our wall (its a black and white photo, shot from a distance, showcases the architecture of our venue, and has very dramatic lighting). House guests are always shocked to learn that WE are the people in the photo because it is such an amazing shot, just like a piece of art!
