I completely agree with that advice, and for me Kate was the perfect choice. She made the wedding day so fun and relaxing. As we page through the hundreds of photos she took of our special ceremony, we are struck again and again by how perfectly she captured our own feelings about marrying each other in front of our friends and family (feelings we couldn't process fully at the time, that Kate's photography helps us re-live). Everyone who has seen Kate's photos of our wedding has remarked on the artistry of her shots. She experiments with a variety of perspectives, and captures light as a true artist would. She got to know us, she got to know our daughter, and she worked to understand the intention of what we were doing. When our minister failed to show up (yes, that happened), Kate and her assistant helped keep us both calm, they helped us find our marriage certificate at the end of the ceremony, and they kept everyone at ease and laughing. After our wedding, Kate processed our photos and posted some of her favorites on her blog as a hint of what was to come. She masterfully used social media and her website to help everyone remember the day and access the images. When she sent our USB drive with the images, as well as the prints we ordered, she included a beautiful, personal note. The entire time, she took this kind of care of us (when she contracted with her, she sent us a welcome bottle of wine and a journal for us to record ideas for shots). She is absolutely fabulous. I would recommend Kate Marie Photography to ANYONE. She produces beautiful photography, but she also enhances the event with her presence. More, she embraced us as a lesbian couple with an adopted child, affirming that she finds all kinds of love beautiful and equally worthy of documentation. For your wedding, you want someone able to capture all the moments, all the emotions, to give you memories you look back on and smile, instead of pictures you hate, someone you can feel comfortable with. Katie has talent and heart in spades!!! She was more than just an incredible photographer, who gave me such stunning wedding photos that not only can I look back and smile from, but she gave me the first photos in my life that I have ever liked that have myself in them!! She is an amazing person with an incredible heart and her passion for photography and for her clients shines through her photos. I don't just see my memories in my wedding photos, I see my day through her artistic eye, beautiful colors and moments I was too distracted to capture. She was more than just a photographer for me, she was there for me when I needed her the most. We had only met a few times for coffee, but her personality is so fantastic you cant help but love her instantly and on the day of my wedding she helped me calm down when I completely lost myself in tears at the sight of my groom and was overwhelmed by all my emotions. She helped with my bustle when my 5 bridesmaids couldn't, she walked us through the day seemlessly and spent more time taking candid than posed photos(which I loved) and she took great control of crazy situations. She talked with me, laughed with me and I could not have made it through my day without her. She was one of the best parts of my and my husbands day, and that says a lot!! I will not only use her photography skills throughout my life, I have no problem shouting from the rooftops what an incredible photographer she is, the best of the best and picking her for your wedding is the smartest and easiest decision you can make!!

her photographer. Kate had shot a wedding of a friend of a friend. I saw their pictures on facebook and thought they turned out pretty good. So I got in touch with her and told her my situation. She got right on it! I warned her that my mom is a bit of a photography snob and might give her a hard time. She said "no problem." She always shoots with a 2nd photographer which I think is really smart. The day of my wedding was pretty stressful. I had too many people trying to be in charge and about 1 hour before my ceremony I had a bit of a nervous break down and started crying. I had never met Kate in person. I knew she was there somewhere and asked if someone could go find her. I was really nervous we weren't going to have time for pictures. She walked in and took charge. I felt totally reassured! She handled my high pressure family. She told them what to do and they just did it. She was so professional. I haven't seen all of my pictures yet, but she posted about 6 as a teaser on her work facebook profile and they are fantastic! Even my mom had to admit she did a great job! I am so happy with her work, her attitude and style. I would have booked her from the start if I had known how great she was. I had to pay more for her than for my friend, but it was worth every penny!
