Hi! I'm Kate, and I'm originally from the Philadelphia/Delaware area. I made Charleston my home in 2014, drawn to its warm weather and captivating charm.
There are many favorite spots to walk downtown. Among those, I highly recommend Philadelphia Alley, historically a prime spot for duels to take place, and Chalmers St, adorned with cobblestones and quaint homes in the French Quarter.
Regarding dining, FIG is my top choice to celebrate big life celebrations, while Xiao Bao Biscuit is perfect for casual gatherings with loved ones. The multitude of amazing food our city offers can't be beat!
Traveling ignites my soul. One cherished memory is wandering a well-worn path from Fira to Oia in Santorini, Greece, capturing the beauty of quaint doorways and windows along the way, truly spiritual.
Through music and art, I find so much inspiration for my work. I often stop into the Robert Lange Studios downtown to see the newest additions of contemporary art. You can also find me treasure-hunting for vinyl gems at Monster Music to add to my constantly evolving record collection.

We absolutely loved working with Kate! She made us feel at ease in front of the camera, but also knew how to keep things moving with family portraits after the ceremony. We felt so comfortable around her. She had my bridal portrait photos done so quickly and mailed the framed portrait we picked out for the wedding as well! We just received a sneak peek of wedding photos and we are already in love with them! You need Kate on your vendor list - you will not regret it!

Kate was absolutely incredible! From our initial conversation I knew she was who we were going to hire, she's so bubbly and personable and made us feel so comfortable leading up to and during our wedding day. I would describe us as awkward when it comes to taking photos but Kate helped us pose, told us where to put our hands and actually made us laugh in candid photos instead of fake laughing. Kate was a brides dream! Not only was she supper helpful and responsive during the planning stages but she was so FUN to work with on the day of. The wedding party and family were so excited to take pictures and Kate made sure everyone had fun while doing it. The pictures speak for themselves, we got them back quickly and they are amazing. Kate did such an AMAZING job photographing our wedding and engagement photos! She was very easy to get along with and it felt like having a photoshoot with a long time friend. We had a wonderful time and Kate was with us every step of the way. We were so incredibly happy with our pictures and the final product. Kate seemed to capture a wide variety of poses as well as backgrounds in the park. We are so thankful we found Kate and would recommend her to anyone looking get their engagement photos done!
My husband and I decided to elope to South Carolina once our original wedding in Pittsburgh, PA had to be canceled due to Covid. With this change of plans, came stress and the need to find a new photographer within a couple of months. Not being from the area at all, I started to research photographers online. Almost every photographer had a fantastic portfolio and similar prices, so I did not know how I was going to pick. Until I came across Kate Timbers. What stood out for me with Kate, was not only the phenomenal photos but the love and magic she was able to capture in candid moments as well. I love candid photos because they show the true emotion and love in between the professionally posed pictures as well. When the day came, Kate arrived with the biggest smile and seemed just as excited for the day as I was. The day was full of laughter and fun as if we had been friends forever. She paired with my videographer so seamlessly that you would have thought they worked together numerous times before, however, it was the first time they had worked together! I am forever grateful that Kate was able to capture the most stunning pictures I am ever seen and will cherish all of my life. We loved our experience with Kate! We decided to elope during COVID and take wedding pictures at the venue we were going to get married at for our announcements to family & friends. She made this process so special even though it was just my husband and i ,and we love every photo! She even went out of her way to send thoughtful cards & messages after the event which truly meant so much to us!
Kate was such a pleasure to work with. We hired Kate for our engagement photos & wedding day. My husband and I were a little worried how awkward we were going to be in these photos but Kate made us feel so comfortable. She not only became our photographer but our friend.♥️ We wanted pictures that really captured our emotion and wanted them as candid as possible and she did exactly that. We also had a monsoon on our wedding day and the pictures she took made it look like that didn’t even happen. She is awesome!! Anna (her side kick for the wedding day) was absolutely amazing too!

Can't say enough great things about Kate! I was a COVID bride and Kate was so accommodating as we rescheduled, rearranged family portraits with fewer people coming, and continued changing our plans. The photos were beautiful and came out quickly after the wedding date. Kate was also so good at making us feel comfortable and relaxed during this happy, but often stressful time. Would definitely recommend her to anyone in the Charleston area!
We asked Kate to take our destination engagement pictures in Charleston, SC and she was more than amazing to work with! She was extremely responsive and helpful while we were coordinating and provided some great suggestions on potential locations. Once we were there, she was extremely patient, gave great direction, and made us both feel at ease. It was our first professional photography experience and we were so lucky to have her!
There aren't enough words to adequately describe how wonderful Kate is! Not only does she take STUNNING photographs, but she also has an uncanny ability to truly capture the entire DAY...not just the moment! She has the best personality and is so incredibly wonderful to work with!! She listens and truly cares and made everything a total joy. Our experience with Kate couldn't have been any better! This is her strength in my opinion, capturing candid moments that aren't scripted or posed. Working with Kate was absolutely great! She was very receptive to our needs and wants; we were a hectic group that was hard to gather everyone together, but she certainly made it work. Upon immediately meeting her, I was at ease with her friendly, bubbly personality; she made it very easy for us to be ourselves as a couple. Another thing I appreciated was her punctuality. I only had 4 hours with her, and she was sure to not waste a minute. I would highly recommend hiring Kate as your photographer! Absolutely wonderful experience.

Kate was an absolute dream to work with. She's so sweet and encouraging, which was so appreciated during the stressful planning stage! She asked lots of questions so that she could capture what was most meaningful to us, and absolutely delivered on that with tons of amazing photos. On our wedding day she managed to capture so many wonderful moments without being at all intrusive. I didn't want the whole day to feel like one big photo shoot and it definitely didn't. Even my camera shy husband said he had a great time because Kate was so sweet and fun! Highly, highly recommend working with Kate.

Kate did our engagement and wedding photos. As someone who is not entirely comfortable in front of the camera, Kate put me at ease right away. She is great to work with and I love her ideas for unique photos!
First off, Kate's infectious laugh will get you through your big day no matter how hectic it gets (for me that included the dog getting into the cake pops at home just a few hours before we walked down the aisle- thank God for Kate and all my bridesmaids for calming me down as the husband cleaned that one up)! Kate is a very organized and punctual businesswoman, on top of being an incredible photographer. She had a party following the guys as they prepared/goofed off and for us ladies, and the full ensemble reconnected at the ceremony and reception. We have some large prints framed in the house, including a panoramic of the bridal party, and all the images are sharp, clear and so colorful! Kate also photographed my sister's wedding before mine so I already knew that decision for me would be easy. Her prices are very competitive, and totally worth it. I'm only sad that Kate isn't up here in the Philly area full time, as the Carolinas are very blessed to have her talent available there now!

We really loved having an upbeat photographer for our wedding. She made the tedious process of going through lots of family photos an efficient and enjoyable process. Also Kate has an uncanny ability to capture the surrounds of great moments. We had a few key items that were of very high importance (the ceremony setting, formals with a classic car, and reception tent at night), which she captured beautifully and really came through for us. I had a bridal shoot about a month before the wedding which helped reduce the amount of photos for the wedding day, so I would highly recommend one. And we also had our engagement session with Kate, which was a lot of fun outdoors on a stormy day, but having worked with her on several occasions, I would recommend Kate highly if your priority is capturing natural surroundings or even the small details that you know you'll want in a photo album as she did an amazing job with both. She also has great flexibility in catering to what you want out of your photos, creating choices to fit your budget, and photo ordering options. We also loved our printed photo cards (from the engagement session) so guests knew when and where to find the photo galleries after the wedding.

When I first became engaged, I started looking around at wedding venues. I kept seeing these amazing photos of this one specific venue and Kate Timbers was that photographer. I loved her artistic style and knew I wanted to work with her. Kate was extremely easy to work with. We met a couple times to discuss pricing and what types of photos I wanted on my day. The day of she was extremely professional, she wasn't a bother to guests and blended into the wedding. I was extremely happy with how my photos and album turned out. I would work with her again in a heartbeat.
I can't recommend Kate enough! She was so excited to work with what we wanted and made great suggestions. My husband was somewhat hesitant to spend money on really nice professional photography, but after he saw our photos, he admitted it was well worth it! Everyone has said what a great job Kate did.
Kate was both our wedding photographer and our engagement session photographer and she was AMAZING. First of all the pictures came out perfect- I got so many compliments on the pictures, I love love LOVE the way they look and the way I look in them, and I will treasure them forever. More importantly to me, however, was Kate's friendly demeanor and her willingness to work with us and our many requests. My husband's family had a lot of particular things they wanted and didn't want for the pictures but she was gracious and accommodating at every turn. The formal pictures felt natural and comfortable, and she even got my super-camera-shy husband laughing and enjoying himself! Having Kate at our reception felt like having just another friend along for the party. She captured every special moment and so many wonderful candids without ever feeling intrusive or out of place. I never had a problem getting a hold of her during planning, and the pictures didn't take long at all after the wedding- I was just so impatient I wanted to see them instantly! Kate perfectly captured the essence of our wedding and reception, and I highly recommend her to any bride (or anyone at all) who is looking for a high-quality photographer with a friendly attitude.

Mary Kate was so easy to work with! As soon as we met her, we clicked and my husband and I knew that we wanted her to be our wedding photographer. I always felt comfortable sending her an e-mail with any question that I had, even if it was small. She was so great about walking through exactly how the day would go and assisting us with the timeline for the day. Mary Kate covered our rehearsal dinner as well as our wedding day and she was on-time for everything. She was open to any suggestions that we had for photos and even offered her own suggestions too. She and her assistant Albert were never in the way (I honestly barely remember seeing them at the reception) but managed to capture all of the special moments. Our pictures are amazing and we cannot wait to get our album. I would highly recommend working with Mary Kate!
Mary Kate was absolutely spectacular to work with! We contacted her about taking post wedding photos and she got back with us right away. After scheduling the appointment for our ideal weekend the date needed to be changed for weather (Hurricane Irene) and she was very flexible. The (earlier) make up date was sunny and hot and she was perfectly fine about it even as we covered some serious ground to get all of the photos we were looking for.
She was happy and genuinely excited about every shot and would show us previews of how the images were coming together. It only took her a minute to set up shots and if needed quickly change lenses to ensure she had the right view point.
We would absolutely recommend her to anyone-annnd recommend taking post wedding photos. It was one of the most enjoyable parts of the wedding process and a very nice way to spend a few peaceful hours together once everything settled down from the actual wedding day.

I would highly recommend Kate's Lens. She photographed our wedding and did an absolutely fantastic job. My husband and I and our families are not super comfortable around the camera, but she has such a great easygoing personality that she made us all feel so comfortable and the photos reflect that. We also did engagement photos with her, which I am so glad that we did. The photos are great and it made us more comfortable with her for the wedding day. Her second shooter Gretchen also was great. We love our wedding photos, especially all of the candids. Her prices were also very reasonable compared to other photographers that I researched. She was also very flexible with travel since our wedding was a couple hours away from where she is located. Overall, a fantastic experience. We are so glad we chose her!
Mary Kate was a joy to work with. From the first time we saw her work we knew we had found our wedding photographer. After our first meeting with Mary Kate my husband and I felt as if we had known her for years.
During the entire planning process I felt that if I ever had a question or concern I could email Mary Kate and have a response soon after. My husband and I wanted to have our formal photos taken at Winterthur Mansion and Gardens, Mary Kate having not been to Winterthur asked if she could visit the gardens prior to our “getting ready” session to scout out locations.
Mary Kate and her assistant Albert captured so many wonderful moments that happened on our wedding day without anyone noticing that they where even present.
Post wedding my husband and I were elated with the stunning photography from our wedding and have been praising Mary Kate to everyone we know. From the ease of viewing the proofs with her online proofing to the beautiful layouts for our album, working with Mary Kate has been wonderful. Mary Kate was the best to work with. We were only available for a couple of dates since we lived out of the state while planning the wedding and she was always flexible to our needs.
She is professional and fun. It was fun to work with her on our engagement photos since we wanted mostly goofy fun shots. It was 100 degress out in center city Philadelphia ans she smiled the whole way through the session!! It made it way more fun. Then she even found a perfect guestbook to use at the wedding and didn't charge and arm and a leg for the extra attention and service.
She has an excellent perspective with a keen eye for lighting and capturing the moment. I am so pleased with her work. We had a short list of formals that we wanted and then we let her dictate the rest of the shots and we are very glad we did. She even had an assistant photographer which was professional and artistic as well.

On the big day Kate was upbeat, kind, focused, professional and attentive behind the lens. This truly made it a breeze for everyone in my blended family & in the wedding party. Group shots went extremely smooth and efficient, and individual shots were easy. Choosing a wedding photographer became a more daunting task than I was expecting. So many options in Charleston! I can say confidently that Kate was easily the best decision. We wanted a lot of candids and a photojournalistic vibe, and we got exactly what we were hoping for. Kate was pregnant for our wedding, and she still worked her butt off for us! She's got a really positive personality and patiently, yet confidently maneuvered our unconventional family dynamics.

She helped create the day-of timeline and was always responsive to my many, many questions. She and Arielle (her second shooter) were so friendly and professional, and their flexibility really helped me feel at ease throughout the day. Would recommend her without any reservations!
Kate was so much fun to work with! She was on time, professional, smiling the whole time, and she had us laughing and comfortable throughout the whole session. Afterwards my fiance said he didn't expect to have that much fun and was really glad we went with Kate. We were particularly goofy and giggly (which she got great photos of) but Kate also made sure we got a few sweet, romantic shots.<3
Kate was absolutely incredible! She captured all of the elements about our wedding in such a magical way. She did a fantastic job working with the whole crowd, us as the bride & groom, all of our wedding party, and our guests. She traveled from PA to DE to shoot our wedding. She was so easy going, calm, yet helped us keep the day moving and shot all of the photos we were hoping to get (and so many more). She's extremely responsive and very thoughtful, which was incredibly helpful throughout the whole wedding process. We highly recommend Kate's Lens Photography!!
Marykate was very easy to work with and very quick. We were able to enjoy all of the cocktail hour and I didn't even notice the photographers for the rest of the night. I would definitely recommend her.
As a newly engaged girl, I was blown away by the photography on popular wedding blogs - and even more blown away when I requested prices from similarly styled photographers. Having beautiful images of our days was important to me, but we had a budget to stick to! After a ton of searching (and emailing many vendors via this site!), I came across Mary Kate Timbers of Kate's Lens. I almost didn't email her because of how fabulous her pictures were- surely we couldn't afford such fabulous photojournalistic style - but I am SO happy we did! Mary Kate did our engagement session last September, and my husband and I clicked with her immediately! She has a fantastic eye for detail, makes you feel incredibly comfortable in front of the camera (I get nervous!) and was all over the idea of having our yellow lab, Riley Jane, join us in the beginning of the shoot.
After our session - under 1 hour and around 200 usable images! - we couldn't wait to have Mary Kate document our wedding. She and her assistant were photography ninjas! They got everything from gorgeous getting ready shots and bridal magazine quality photos of my dress (you can tell she has a background in fashion photography here!) to candids that capture the emotion of a moment and lovely formals we will cherish forever. After sharing some pictures via the Kate's Lens blog, friends and family alike commented that seeing the pictures was like being at the wedding again - EXACTLY what you want your pictures to evoke!
Without a doubt, we will be using Kate's Lens again for newborn photos (when the time comes!) and any other momentous occasions that come our way. Thank you so much to Mary Kate - we felt like you were another member of our family :)
Kate was amazing. I am typically nervous/shy around the camera but I didn't feel at all like that. She is very creative and offered suggestions when I asked. She is also super easy going and very fun. Very talented and loves what she does. She even traveled to Wisconsin for my wedding!
