Welcome to Kateri: A Timeless Venue in the Shenandoah Valley
Built in 1979, Kateri was the cherished home of Dr. and Mrs. William and Karen Toomy, who found paradise in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. Designed for warmth and hospitality, Kateri offers an unrivaled view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where vibrant greens, blues, and a mesmerizing purple haze transform the scenery with the seasons.
Kateri’s One-Floor Venue: Elegance and Charm
Our venue features three elegant great rooms and a stunning hallway with intricate brickwork. Two rooms boast stained-glass windows salvaged from a historic Baptist church in Waynesboro, VA, adding timeless beauty. Solid cherry wood floors and accents complement modern design, while over 100 windows invite the outdoors in.
The Guest Wing includes the 'Something Blue Bridal Room,' a private space for the bridal party to prepare. Plus, couples enjoy a complimentary overnight stay in the Guest Suite with a Sleep Number bed—part of our weekend package for a relaxing end to your special day.

Outdoor Splendor

The heart of the property is the side lawn, an open space perfect for dancing under the stars, surrounded by stunning vistas at every turn.

A Legacy of Love – Our Story Nestled in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, our homeplace is more than just a house—it is a living memory, a space built from the ground up by the hands and hearts of our beloved parents. Designed with care, intention, and so much love, every corner of this home reflects who they were: warm, welcoming, creative, and full of life. Our parents were the kind of people who made everyone feel at home. They poured their souls into this place—not just in its architecture, but in the way it brought people together. For decades, it was the backdrop for unforgettable holiday gatherings, sparkling cocktail parties under the stars, summer picnics that stretched long into golden evenings, and spontaneous celebrations filled with music, laughter, and love. The walls hold the echoes of joy, the clinking of glasses, and the shared stories of friends and family. We are their seven children, each of us shaped by their example and the magical place they created. After their passing, we knew one thing for certain: we wanted to preserve the spirit of this home. It’s where we grew up, where we learned what it meant to love deeply, celebrate fully, and live intentionally. And so, together, we’ve chosen to turn our family home into a wedding and event venue—not only as a way to honor the beautiful life our parents built, but also to ensure this place stays within our family and continues to be filled with joy. We hope that by opening the doors to others, this home can become the start of many new chapters, full of laughter, dancing, and lasting memories. From our family to yours—welcome.
