Built in 1979, Kateri was the cherished home of Dr. and Mrs. William and Karen Toomy, who found paradise in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. Designed for warmth and hospitality, Kateri offers breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where vibrant greens, blues, and a soft purple haze shift with the seasons.
Kateri’s One-Floor Venue: Elegance and Charm
The venue includes three elegant great rooms and a grand hallway with intricate brickwork. Two rooms feature stained-glass windows salvaged from a historic Baptist church in Waynesboro, VA, adding timeless character. Solid cherry wood floors and accents enrich the modern design, while 100+ windows welcome in natural light.
The Guest Wing includes the "Something Blue Bridal Room," a private prep space for the bridal party. Couples also enjoy a complimentary overnight stay in the Guest Suite, complete with a Sleep Number bed and luxurious Pottery Barn bedding—part of our weekend package for a relaxing end to your special day.

A Magical Night to Remember – The Perfect Venue for the Best Day of Our Lives
We hosted our wedding reception here as a cocktail party under the stars, and it truly was everything...
we dreamed of and more. The setting was stunning, creating a romantic and intimate atmosphere that felt straight out of a fairytale.
Even though it was mid-June, the evening turned out to be a bit chillier than expected. We had originally set up cooling units for the caterer, but with a quick change of plans, the team seamlessly switched to heating units on the back deck. Their flexibility and professionalism meant everything went off without a hitch.
The entire experience—from the ambiance to the attentive service—was flawless. I wouldn’t have wanted to celebrate our wedding anywhere else. It was the best day of our lives, and this venue played a huge part in making it so special.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful, adaptable, and unforgettable place to say “I do.”

We went with a cocktail-style reception that featured multiple food stations, including a pasta bar and a steamship round carving station. The food was great, and our guests appreciated having so many options. Even with a full guest list, the space never felt crowded. Everyone could move around easily and enjoy different parts of the venue without feeling packed in.
The night ended with dancing to a live band on the back deck, which was a highlight for us and many of our guests. The open-air setting gave the evening a relaxed and fun vibe, and it was the perfect way to wrap up the celebration.
From start to finish, everything ran smoothly. The staff was professional, organized, and easy to work with. The venue not only met our expectations—it exceeded them. Our guests had a great time, and so did we. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a well-run venue with a beautiful setting.

Kateri sits on a lovely green hill with views that are peaceful, tranquil, and beautiful. The patio area is perfect for outdoor events, with exceptional views!! The house opens to the patio area creating a large space with easy access to the kitchen and restrooms.
