We were looking for a wedding photographer for our beach wedding in Pensacola and ran across Kate's glowing reviews on Wedding Wire and The Knot. I loved her logo, gallery and blog so I contacted her. We hit it off from email number one! She's awesome. My kind of people and the lucky part is this...SHE'S SUPER TALENTED TO BOOT! Having majored in Photography for a while, I was really into making sure that the quality of the photographs she would take on the beach was top notch. I wanted to make sure I wouldn't look too washed out in the brightness and that the photos weren't overexposed or that a photographer wouldn't just throw a dark filter on which would really diminish the magic of the natural light. Kate knows how to shoot on the beach. Just look at her instagram or blog or Facebook. It's a real art and she has mastered it. We found out Kate works nationwide and lives in San Francisco so we booked her for engagement photos in San Francisco (where we got engaged), then our beach wedding in Pensacola (omg the light was amazing) and then our cocktail party at a swanky Sacramento hotel for our local friends. I know you're thinking...travel fee... yes, but Kate's entire fee for our wedding and engagement photos was LESS THAN A LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER. Seriously, I contacted four photographers in Pensacola that were suggested by my coordinator. She was amazing at all three events. She's just something special. You'll know it when you work with her. She put us at ease, ran interference to block annoyances, fit into the crowd like she'd always been a part of our lives, and produced the most beautiful photographs we could have imagined. She remembered our guests names from the wedding to the cocktail party. That made it super easy to arrange people for photos. She remembered everything I told her...like..."please don't made my "divorced" parents be in a photograph together", etc. She's also fun. Like super fun. She went above and beyond for us. On my wedding day, she helped get the guys flowers to them and helpful things like that. At the cocktail party, she chatted up the coordinator and got him to sneak us into a room with a balcony overlooking the city before it's guests checked in for the night. It was awesome and she knew about the balcony because she fully researched the location before she arrived. She's awesome. Her photos are divine. HIRE HER.

For my wedding, we had a phone meeting and she went over my long list of photos I wanted. And would you know she did not skip a beat! She got every one of them even the ones that I forgot about. some amazing suggestions to questions I had. Needless to say we decided to hire Kate! We also had a difficult family situation come up where my fiance's mom was not able to travel. Because of this we planned an earlier small wedding over Christmas in Michigan on Dec 17th 2016. Since we had hired Kate to do our wedding in July 2017 and were having trouble finding anyone on short notice in Michigan, we made the decision to fly Kate out to do our photography for this wedding as well. This was honestly the best decision we could have made! She was WONDERFUL! First off, her price was very reasonable for this option and she was very easy to accommodate. She ended up staying with me and my fiance's family and was a very delightful house guest. Since she was staying with us, she took photos of every event we had planned. She had no time limit and made it easy for us to not worry about completely documenting the weekend. This wedding had some very sensitive family issues arise and she was so understanding and tactful in how she handled everything! Since this event was mostly my fiance's family I didn't have any bridesmaids with me and Kate basically became my pseudo-bridesmaid/ day of coordinator. She made everything go so smoothly and the day went off without a hitch! She even made my now husband comfortable with the photo taking process, which is a miracle! I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about Kate!! I will definitely be adding another review after our wedding this coming July, but I bet it will be spectacular!! If you are thinking of hiring a photographer, go no further! You have found the perfect person here!

My husband and I were lucky to be able to schedule a engagement shoot with Kate and her husband Jeff (who was the second shooter) in New York City several months before our wedding while they were visiting family on the East Coast. My husband and I had NEVER done professional photos together before, and didn't quite know what to expect. Kate and Jeff were so easy going and had such good energy, and within the first few minutes we were already all making jokes and they totally put us at ease! In the months leading up to the wedding, Kate was super helpful at answering any of our questions or concerns. I LOVED that she had a detailed questionnaire for us to answer about the wedding photos before the big event(i.e. any special family/friend dynamics to be aware of, family photo compositions we'd want, etc.), and that she made a timeline for the day of the wedding to make sure everything went smoothly. To give you the sense of the type of people Kate and Jeff are, when I was getting somewhat stressed trying to figure out how to fit in all the photos before the ceremony (detail shots, getting ready photos, first look, and wedding party), Kate and Jeff went above and BEYOND to make sure we could fit everything by offering for Kate to meet the girls early at my parents' house (where the bridal party was getting ready) and Jeff to meet the boys at the venue. This required much more time and coordination of schedules on their part, and my husband and I were so appreciative and thankful that they offered to do this. Even though we had an onsite wedding coordinator at our venue, I give so much credit to Kate and Jeff for keeping us on time and on track throughout the day. I cannot recommend ENOUGH to book Kate with Jeff as the second shooter, not only we get so many great posed and candid photos, but they are also such fun and wonderful people and my guests loved them just as much as we did!!! We didn't hire a videographer to increase our budget for photography, and that is one of the best decisions we made for our wedding--I've absolutely in love with my wedding photos, and I've so many friends and family tell me how impressed they are with the quality of the photos. My husband and I will treasure our photos forever, and we are already planning ahead for booking with Kate for any future important life events! If I could give Kate's Captures 10,000 gold stars I would!

It helped things go so smoothly and quickly on my wedding day. I didn't even have to think on that day- she took control and made sure everything was taken care of. She made sure to get all my important pictures and then had so many creative pictures all ready planned out for us. I'm telling you- she was organized! Not only was she organized, she was fun and kept me calm. It started raining before my outdoor ceremony, and I wasn't sure whether to move the time, wait it out, or move it indoors. She took care of the decision making so that I could get ready. She watched the forecast, talked with the other vendors, and told me to wait it out. (Then she did an anti-rain dance to make me laugh.) She was right- everything turned out perfect and it was sunny during the ceremony! We live on the east coast, but Katie and her husband Jeff were both able to fly out for the wedding. They were so professional and fun during the day, and we had so many compliments from our guests on how great our photographers were. They were also great with our young flower girls and ring bearer (four all together, ranging in age from 1-5 years old). I don't know how they were able to get them to pay attention, but they totally did!
