l you exactly what's happening and exactly what you're paying for. For me, I needed someone to guide me through recommendations. She could have made me buy the most expensive options for everything but did everything possible to keep my neurotic self knowledgeable. 2. She can shoot editorial style AND natural/candid. My mother and I had very different perspectives when it came to photography. Thankfully, Kate was able to comply to both styles. 3. She can make the most awkward human presentable. I am incredibly uncomfortable with photos. Double so if I'm dressed up and made up. Kate was patient and helped position my face/body/hair/arms so that it isn't protruding in awkward angles. Most importantly, Kate is one of the few folks in the wedding industry I know that makes the bride feel beautiful and empowered. It's easy to nitpick on your own photos. For myself, I was super subconscious that my arms were too muscular. Her telling me that it looked awesome helped ease the insecurity because she's right, why would I want to look like I have thin arms when I've put all this work to making them look buff? Wedding stereotypes and what we define as beauty can be hard to break but I know 40 years from now when I look back at my photos I can proudly claim that not only was I was beautiful but strong as well. equally as excited about the shower as I was about the fact that my time to work with Kate had finally come... maternity photos! From day one, Kate made our maternity shoot experience fun, comfortable, and SO exciting! She showed a genuine interest in ensuring that our vision for our shoot was met, and worked hand-in-hand with me to stylize every detail. Her presence is incredibly warm, confident, and compassionate (which is welcome when having to spend a little time in front of the camera!). Not to mention, Kate is ONE HELL OF A PHOTOGRAPHER! Her keen eye for perfect lighting is so impressive. In some of my favorite photos taken during our session, both my husband and I have a natural golden light beaming off of us in all of the right places; we look like fruitful, glowing GODS... honestly, what more could you want from a maternity photo? She was timely, communicative, and extremely professional. Her attention to detail was spectacular. She made us feel comfortable, and made the entire experience so much fun! Our maternity photos will be treasured not just by my husband and I, but by the sweet twins we have brewing up as well. escribed it as having the chance to talk to an old friend and her and Kate got along so well that I knew I'd have to take the practical approach to deciding who would be capturing our wedding memories. Since we're local, we decided we would meet with Kate for a drink after work to see how the chemistry would be with the person who we would probably see the most during our wedding. Picking out your photographer is really important, and we didn't take it lightly. The photographer needs to be able to blend in, yet stand out and get things done. Frankly, I think the photographer is more important than any other person to make sure everything is staying on track! You can guess the meeting with Kate went so well that we immediately booked her for our wedding. Well, fast forward to the wedding and Kate more than outdid herself. Her extra shooter and her arrived on time, made us all immediately feel comfortable, and took a ton of shots that we knew we would be admiring for a lifetime. We had a list of key shots that we knew we wanted during the wedding and Kate not only made those a priority, but got them done fast and efficiently so we could enjoy our whole day! Fast forward a couple weeks after the wedding and we received some sneak peak photos and to say we were excited would be an understatement. Oh My God, these photos were out of this world. Every single person we showed a few of these sneak peak photos to couldn't believe the beauty of the moment she had captured. We married in Squaw Valley so we had many different sceneries that needed to be captured from huge nature shots to village shots and each one of these were done beautifully. Then, without too much time to pass so our excitement is still high, we get the digital prints to our photos. Every single photo, and that is not an exaggeration, was perfect. All of the requirements we needed were more than fulfilled by Kate - she showed up on time, took the shots we needed, and provided the photos to us after the event. If that's all your looking for in a photographer you're missing the personal aspect of the photographer truly being part of the wedding/family. Your photographer needs to be able to get your nephews to laugh and look at the camera, your parents to actually pay attention and be where they need to be, put you and your bride (or groom) at ease, keep in constant contact with you after the event so you know what and when to expect...and if you and your photographer get along as well as we did...you invite her to dance with you and your closest friends and family because you know you found someone special. That is Kate. Kate, thanks for everything - you truly are a master at what you do and I am so glad my wife found you!
