We had originally planned to go with another caterer, but Gina (at Walk Down the Aisle) recommended that we do a tasting with Chef KK to see what we thought before we signed a contract with the other party. We were simply astonished at the subt...lety and nuance of what she was able to create, and quickly switched our allegiances.
We had a very small wedding, were able to put quite a bit of the cost into the food, and Chef KK pulled off a culinary masterpiece. We had a 13-piece tasting menu, including each of our favorite foods, which were reinterpreted and refined for more mainstream palates. Everything from Filet Mignon to Mac & Cheese, with faultless presentation.
Even now, months later, our guests still talk about the dinner; many of them had never been to a tasting menu and had something of a peak gustatory experience at our wedding.
For our honeymoon, we went to tasting menus at two of the triple-Michelin starred restaurants in the US, within the week after experiencing Chef KK. Sitting back in our seats at the French Laundry, we both remarked that KK's wedding dinner was clearly at this level (and without the impossible-to-get reservations). I'm not kidding. It was that good. If you are having a small wedding in the Palm Springs area and are willing to put some money into the dinner, you will have an amazing experience. Even the hardened foodies who somehow work their trip to El Bulli in every conversation will come up to you, dazed, and say "I wasn't expecting that."
I saw another review that complained about the service. Our own service was faultless; everything was brought out quickly, cheerfully, and silently (unless guests asked for more details). Gina and KK had made sure that all the servers were wearing inconspicuous colors, had their hair tied back, minimal makeup, etc. Our guests didn't complain about, or praise, the service; they just didn't notice it, and focused on the meal, which is exactly how you want it.
Chef KK is a really, really shy person. I still don't know what her voice sounds like. We brought her out at the end to take a round of applause from our guests, and she was blushing the whole time; I hope she understands how appreciated she was.
