I feel so disappointed in leaving a less than pleased review of Katy’s work, but I wanted to be honest about how I felt everything turned out. While Katy was extremely kind and friendly to meet with prior to the wedding, it just seemed as if she was overwhelmed on the day of my wedding. I had explained prior to my wedding that my venue was complicated (but gave an open invitation to our rehearsal dinner the night before to survey the venue), that she would have to control the situation (as far as groups for photos and posing, and warned her that our families were a loud bunch), and gave a clear expectation of the photos we wanted. The day of, everything started out well: Katy was attentive and on her game. Once we got into getting dressed and the actual ceremony, the shots seemed to decline in focus and quality. After the ceremony, Katy asked if it was okay to go grab batteries. I assumed she meant from her vehicle or something and said yes. She’d been missing for 10 minutes or so when I called looking for her, and she had went to buy some. The rest of the day seemed to go the same way, ending with Katy offering us a small refund in return for leaving early. Overall, our photos were disappointing and underwhelming, aside from a handful of beautiful shots that seemed doable by any professional. All of the photos of my side of our family were taken with a fish eye lens, most photos of all of our family had odd shadows that really couldn’t be completely removed (Katy did attempt to though), and we never even took some of the photos I had requested. After I received my photos, I had to request photos I didn’t receive at all. Overall, it was one of the most expensive and lavish days of my life, and the photos don’t convey any of that. I’m not saying don’t hire Katy. She’s very nice and she does have a good eye. I’m just saying, if you’re having a larger wedding or you have a large venue, Katy might not be the right fit. If you’re having something small and intimate, very simple, I think that’s where she shines. That’s why I’m leaving 2 stars instead of 1.
