She is able to coach you through portraits and is also great at blending into the background and catching great candids. Kearston helped us feel relaxed in our engagement session, giving us posing tips that felt natural to us, and hyping us up in ways that felt like hanging out with an old friend. She also was flexible rescheduling our engagement session when a severe thunderstorm rolled in and ruined any chance we had of taking photos at the outdoor location we had booked. Her calm and professional demeanor helped keep me cool on the wedding day. It's hard to describe the emotions on a wedding day as it differs for everyone, but having Kearsten has a constant calm presence helped put me at ease. She was able to direct everyone, something I was struggling with, so it was great to have her help take control. Everyone felt comfortable with Kearsten and this shows in the photos. Again, it was like hanging out with an old friend. She was one of us, but with a camera and an incredible eye. Our wedding photos came our better than we ever expected. You can see the raw emotions on everyone in the candid’s. The happy tears, the laughs, the relief that came when it was time to party. Looking at them is really like reliving our wedding day, and getting the chance to see all the moments we missed. When I found Kearsten's page on The Knot, I knew that her style of wedding photography was different than most wedding photographers, and it was exactly what I was looking for. Not only can she capture the emotions in her photos, but she edits them so beautifully. Our videographer told me that when he saw her page, he could almost "smell the oak" in her photos. The composition, lighting and coloring of each one is just perfect! Aside from her skill, Kearsten is just a wonderful old soul, down to earth, person. After our first meeting, it was clear that she really wanted to get to know us -- not only so that she could capture what we were looking for -- but so that she could capture who we are. She spent time studying the Pinterest page I sent her, and remembered each shot that we requested beforehand on the day of our wedding. She was sensitive to family drama, and handled corralling our large, hectic families beautifully. When taking photos of just me and my husband, she knew exactly what direction to give us (two very awkward/camera shy individuals), and she laughed and joked with us the entire time. It didn't feel like we were with a stranger, but instead an old time friend. We received our photos way faster than we expected too! I cried when we looked through the album. We got to relive the joy of our day - seeing not only the expressions on our faces and love for each other, but those of our guests as well. Further, if you're someone like me who unfortunately struggles with low self esteem and typically hates being in photos, look no further. Kearsten's work will make you feel more confident and more beautiful than ever. I couldn't recommend anyone more highly than Kearsten to help you with your wedding. The thoughtfulness that she puts into every interaction is above and beyond what I expected from a wedding photographer! She even made the USB with our album on it beautiful (it's gold/glass in a beautiful linen boxed case)! I hope this review helps you make your decision!
